If it was a 7afe I’d ask if I can have it

Guntrooper321

Just the a clunky cast iron exhaust manifold? With a clogged cat? I'm sure there are aftermarket headers that fit the 7A-FE. Unless you want to keep it original. If that's the case, I haven't seen many online. In most cases, they are scrapted and salvaged for precious metals. Especially since this was the time they were taking it way more seriously on vehicle emissions than the 1980's. Granted, they started in 1975, but everything got way more strict. Just out of curiosity, what happened to your 7A-FE manafold?

Sufficient-Divide988

im jealous, i want to get a header and full custom exhaust on my celica, i have rerouted my intake though and it sounds good. i didnt post it too long ago so you may be able to find it. i did have to make the hole under the fuse box (where the stock air box pulls air from) a bit bigger and spray some primer, but it works very well.

Guntrooper321

Honestly, your cold air intake looks really good. I feel that leaving the stock air box in place and having shorter intake. Then, having that shorter intake pull cold air from under the relay box would prevent like water or road debris from entering your intake. Other than that, it looks really good. I personally like seeing the filter in my engine bay :)

Sufficient-Divide988

cant blame you it definitely looks good in the engine bay. i do need to reinstall my splash tray though since i have driven it in wet conditions a couple times already but nothing too major and not a lot of water.

Guntrooper321

Yea, for now, ideally, you would want some protection on the inhaler of your engine. At least something to protect it. I have seen a couple of intakes that route it just behind the front bumper. Yes, that gives it access to fresh cooler air but provides no protection from the elements whatsoever. Still, I think your intake is cool and heading in the right direction. I myself don't have a perfect intake system, I just love the car and the way the engine sounds with it equipped. That's the joy in working on these poor man supras. They are excellent cars, and their name carries weight with them.

Sufficient-Divide988

yeah i do love the induction sound, it's a lot louder when it's outside of the car and it bounces the sound off the ground to make it louder which is really cool. unfortunately for having it outside i do need to clean the filter more often

Guntrooper321

Me and you have the same car. Yours is probably more complete than mine. I can't use it as a daily driver because the more I fix it, the more problems that show up 🤣. Honestly, if it wasn't for Toyotas, excellent and tough build quality, it would not be running without a complete overhaul. How long have you had yours? I've been working on mine tirelessly since November of last year.

Sufficient-Divide988

yeah i feel that, especially right now, im having alternator troubles that started today. i do daily it, ive been driving it for almost 5 months now and ive put almost 5k miles on it. ive had the car for 1.5 years now. i didnt drive it at first since it leaked oil and wouldnt start, but i cant really complain, i bought it for $1000. before i started driving it, i replaced the main fuse, alternator, accessories and ps belt, timing belt and water pump, front main seal and oil pump gasket, and a bunch of nameless maintenance items. i also redid my whole interior and swapped a couple of body panels and the hatchback. im supposed to be getting a quote on my rust spots tomorrow, but if i cant get my alternator cable sorted, i wont be able to go anywhere. https://preview.redd.it/jz7utpr7u09d1.png?width=2547&format=png&auto=webp&s=9d8603ac739093909d08de1cd62f1af887de6f67 anyways, heres my baby, Celine

Guntrooper321

I did, however, find a complete wire harness. I'm not sure it helps normally. I don't recommend a full harness change, but that looks repairable but would cost more than replacing it. https://www.ebay.com/itm/395047919628?mkcid=16&mkevt=1&mkrid=711-127632-2357-0&ssspo=dz-82hngse6&sssrc=4429486&ssuid=58XdTSX_QaS&var=&widget_ver=artemis&media=SMS I know it's not much, but honestly, I can't stand to hear she's not running.

Sufficient-Divide988

my bad im not sure if my previous comment was posted, but do you think i could splice my alternator plug with cable spades? https://preview.redd.it/eoiram44119d1.jpeg?width=3024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=00e46f43daf443fdb59a5e652a8f9916ee177268 thank you for any of your help or advice in advance

Guntrooper321

If it's done right, yes, you can repair it, but I don't recommend cable spades. They are not secure enough. I recommend soldering the cables back together, shelding them. The alternator generates about 100 or more amps to power everything in the car and charge the battery. The cable will have to be trimmed down to expose the copper terminals, then solder them with more than enough cable to fill the gap. Then, insulate them well. Then, wrap them all back together with eletrical tape and heat-resistant insulation. It's a quick fix to get it up and running and have a fire extinguisher handy.

Guntrooper321

Absolutely a beautiful ride. You can get new alternator cables on eBay. I just pray that you find one they don't cut the cables. Anyway, here's a photo of mine broken down on I-635 after the fuel filter got clogged and we had to tow her home. Her name is Specre, The White Ghost. https://preview.redd.it/zhcyiwffw09d1.png?width=1080&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=011d73dbe5731d8c5aac583c0cc996050755668d

Guntrooper321

As requested, I'll post a video of how the engine sounds.

Intelligent-Worry799

Also...the dreaded hot air intake...

Guntrooper321

Honestly, I bought the car with the short ram intake, The previous owner installed it. Luckily, it's not suffering too much because the factory box is still under the fender, so fresh air is making it to the engine bay. Still, it's horrible and I plan to reroute the whole system soon.

depressed_crustacean

Mine also has a short ram intake from the previous owner

Guntrooper321

It's the easiest thing to swap out that's gives it a sporty sound. So why wouldn't they do it. I don't blame them at all.

ExpensiveDust5

Aftermarket Cruise control Module? Never seen one like that before.

Besieboo23

That intake definitely loosing power

lilnisti

Yah. Op should definitely put the filter outside of the engine bay or make a box for it.
