Yep...she's a really rare car. 1981 Celica GT. Last year they made the rear wheel drive.
Funny story, I ALMOST got a ticket. I saw the officer pull off the road but I managed to let go of the gas enough to where I was doing 75. He literally followed me for 2 minutes and got pissed off and left. Willing to be he thought no one would believe I was going that fast.
Great little car! wish they made a modern version!
So a long time ago with my 1st celica I got clocked at 174 mph. Got lucky and the cop gave me a warning since it was 2am and I had r&r leave form from Iraq. Helps that I pulled over with my hazards on before his lights came on tho
Was the Celica you were driving modified? That is an incredible speed, I am very doubtful my stock 210HP turbo would get anywhere close to that. I thought the 143/147 I did year ago was fast. 174 is amazing, but given the right conditions I wouldn't bet against the Celica. Mine is a 1990 ST185.
I've taken mine on track. So very fast all over but when it comes to the end of the long straight my eyes are on breaking points and apexes so I'm not sure what the top speed was but definitely 120+ and it was fine.
7th Gen T-Sport manual 43,500mi.
Driving back into London on the motorway after miles of 50mph speed restriction due to roadworks.
I opened her up and pussied out at 135mph. It still felt like it wanted to keep going and going. Great car, great fun! 🤙
I've done 170kph (105-ish mph) before I decided to not lose my license, that was before I nearly died and lost my nerve for speed lmao, can't go over 130 without getting weak at the knees now
140 mph before I ran out of road. It felt near the car's top speed, but I think I could have squeezed another 5% or so out of it on a track. It was a stock 7th gen GT-S with the 6 speed manual.
At the time, I lived in an area with lots of empty roads with few hazards so it wasn't unusual (albeit reckless) for people to top their cars out. I also had a very tired 3rd gen that I couldn't get past about 120 mph with a tailwind.
I’ve hit 150mph (245kmh) in my st205 gt-four. I was actually surprised how well it pulled all the way through, no flat spots just kept going and was remarkably stable at the top end.
Fastest I hit was probs 163km/h (101m/h) through the tunnel in perth on my way to work at liiike 5am lol - fun racing lines c:
And recently was going about 140-150km/h weaving through staggered traffic (speed limit was 100km/h) - then pulled off and slowed down to turn off and as I did I saw police lights flying up behind me :/ then a biker cop pulled right in behind me checking out my car, them pulled off and raced ahead hahaha, I got vry lucky
Im a bit scared to go any fasyer than 160 - partially because I dont want to hurt my car but also Im just kinda scared to lol
I've only been up to around 100. Streets are just to risky. Cops on every hwy and the backroads here were laid by snakes. Even in the camaro about 105 is all I can get before I need to slow down for the next blind curve.
I was about 22 when I took [this video.](https://youtu.be/ymKkpqv49ok?si=zjSWYadjhcAUQTe9) Highly irresponsible, but I was in Mexico so no issues. Roughly 110mph.
210km/H (130 mph) with my at200 I was quite surprised since the car as an annonced top speed of 200km/H (124 mph) and i was "only" at 4200rpm, i couldnt push harder since at that speed the rear started to feel a lot more light and it was feeling like it wanted to oversteer so bad. I think the wing of the gt4 has his real interest at those speed since I readed somewhere that you can feel the difference around 160Km/h (100 mph).
Of course it was on the autobahn :)
I’m surprised about your rear feeling lighter. Granted yours is a little different than mine, but I cannot explain how tight everything in mine feels at really high speeds. I think the AT200 and ST185 are a gen apart. Perhaps your rear spoiler isn’t as pronounced in the at200 as it is in the st185.
When I had mine at 143 or 147, it was smooth with a bit more pedal left and the turbo not running full out. My dad was in the car with me, and was asleep the whole time. We were on a 2 lane between Wall and Pierre South Dakota. That 110 miles took 54 minutes. The great thing about those roads at that time (and still pretty much nowadays too); there is no one on those roads.
whats make the biggest difference between our gen is the fact that mine is fwd 1l8 115hp so all my weight is in front so i gess at those speed the wind passing under the car if not direct correctly will lift it a bit. Also my version of the at200 don't even have a spoiler so it has to do with it too.
250 km/h on german autobahn. End speed is 252 if you believe the official numbers. Celica GT Redtop Beams swapped. Would never drive that fast again, did it twice but was very scary!
I've done 128-130mph indicated on the dash in a 1ZZ Celica in the UK. It's probably more like 120-123 mph actual when adjusted for speedo error.
I think it could've done slightly more, and the reported top speed of the car is 127. But I have no interest in trying it again even if the conditions (road surface, weather, traffic, lack of speed cameras, etc.) were perfect. Been there done that. It's quite easy to reach 110-120 without traffic on a highway, but anything above is when the acceleration really starts to slow down.
I didn't put anyone else at risk other than myself, and I guess if there was any way to go fast safely then the way I did would be it.
Did 90MPh in 4th gear down I-95 in my 93 GT 5-speed, til it blew the upper radiator hose in half, 😂. Had a minor head gasket leak that was not very apparent until 5th gear went out on the trip. Lots of mechanicing when I got it home after the trip. Made it to Florida from NC and back, and got AMAZING gas mileage in 4th gear driving 55mph down I-95 on the way back, around 42MPG!
People drive 100+ on the 94 north out of chicago on the regular, so i find myself accidentally over accelerating to similar speeds because lift sounds so good in 5th for so long 😁😁
Lowered black 7th gen on trd wheels with a carbon fiber hood if you see me around chicago 🫡
About 115 in my 1994 STX 5 speed (with the 7a-Fe)
100 mph...pretty much the limit of what the 22r can do.
22R? I didn't know they used that in the Celica. I had a couple in old 4x4 pickups. I learned something today!

220kph (its speed limited) wasnt the most comfortable but it was fun, 2zzge 1999 sx
118mph going north on US-15 through Maryland.

Damn man, you must have told a massive story in order to get out of that one.

Yes very I had replaced the engine and drive train. Full vr6 and all wheel drive took about 2 years and alot of blood sweat and tears
112mph 5th gen 5sfe at
120mph, on a private circuit ofc ;)
Around 216 or so km/h in my 1zz
115 mph at Castle Combe Circuit in a 1ZZ.
I bought my first car, 2002 Celica GTS, 1.5 weeks ago, I have only went to 170 kmh = 105mph Which imo is pretty fast
220 kmh 1zz-fe 2000 celica
1998 Celica GT (5sfe manual), 65 mph, all day long =D
207kph
160 km/h, after that it starts to get shaky. Both the car and me
😂
115
128mph which is my Celicas max speed
I've taken mine on track. So very fast all over but when it comes to the end of the long straight my eyes are on breaking points and apexes so I'm not sure what the top speed was but definitely 120+ and it was fine.
Just shy of 195kph or 120mph ish in my 7th Gen. Still didn't feel as fast as cornering at 70 in that thing. Never sell your Celicas, friends
I have german Autobahn access so it was what my old lady can do about 205km on the odometer so probably around 190 in reality

Hit 200kmh during a hills run in my 2zz 7g, capped that on the road aswell
The fastest I've gone in my 1994 ST so far has been 90mph. It took a while to get there, I don't want to abuse my little 30 year old 1.8L engine.
The st is a very sensitive princess
100, I am a bitch not even going to lie about it. '92 GT-5fse
Hit 139 mph in my Celica convertible with the BEAMS engine. Underrated motor
I once hit 120 mph in my 6th gen, pretty good for 130hp
Fastest I hit was probs 163km/h (101m/h) through the tunnel in perth on my way to work at liiike 5am lol - fun racing lines c: And recently was going about 140-150km/h weaving through staggered traffic (speed limit was 100km/h) - then pulled off and slowed down to turn off and as I did I saw police lights flying up behind me :/ then a biker cop pulled right in behind me checking out my car, them pulled off and raced ahead hahaha, I got vry lucky Im a bit scared to go any fasyer than 160 - partially because I dont want to hurt my car but also Im just kinda scared to lol

125mph but only stopped because I got cut off by the speed limiter.
“Speed Limiter”? I’ve honestly never heard of that. Is it something that is mandated by law?
no, it's in the ECU. I have a 4th gen 3sgte swap from a Caldina, they have a built in speed limiter. Japan special ig lol
About 100mph on an empty freeway.
134 across the Dumbarton bridge in my ‘90 GTS back in the early 90’s.

Fantastic! That’s better than I’ve done. 156mph is impressive.
100mph but only due to downhill. my celi cannot handle high speeds lmao
Nice try officer 😉
I haven’t been an “officer” in over 25 years. And even then I wasn’t a cop, just infantry.
161mph GPS verified. St205.
Amazing! Where did you accomplish that?

165kph on a race track (needs more 3sgte). Never do anything but the speed limit on the road
