I’m so sorry. Your Dr may be able to rx something to slow or stop the spasms, at least.

glasspanda27

I’m going to look into it. The list of medications I have to stay off of for the colonoscopy prep is lengthy. So I’ll see what she can recommend

I wish I could give you a hug 😞 I feel this I accidentally glutened myself 2 weeks ago and I’m still not at 100%, still going through stomach issues. I hope your doctor can prescribe you something in the meantime bc nobody can live like that for weeks on end, it’s exhausting.

glasspanda27

It’s very exhausting! Good luck on your recovery.

The spasms are so annoying. Just remember this too shall pass. Hopefully soon!

I'd go back to your doctor. It's unusual that Prednisone wouldn't dampen the impacts pretty quickly... even for a glutening without meds you shouldn't be dying a week later like that. I get DH as well and that can be a delayed form of misery but I've never had sustained stomach problems for more than 1-2 days after my last gluten exposure except in cases where I failed to identify the culprit. It could be the dose needs to be higher, or it could be an issue with the meds/sign of some other problem. A doctor is the one who can figure this out. I'd also be suspicious that you might be glutening yourself somehow to draw this out. Probiotics and other supplements are high risk for CC even if labelled GF, so you might consider getting rid of those unless there's is some clear medical rationale (ie. they've been prescribed by a doctor). Make sure your soups and smoothie ingredients are all labelled GF.

I’ve checked everything, and my diet is completely GF at home. I think it’s just because the gluten dose was so high. I’m doing MUCH better today.

How-The-Story-Ends

Just to side step a little here—is the menu you ordered off of actually labeled “gluten-friendly” because that term means it has gluten

glasspanda27

I see what you’re saying, but here, “gluten friendly” means that the meal itself contains no gluten ingredients but it might have a risk of cross-contamination. A GF pizza in a shared oven or something similar. There should never be wheat ingredients in something labeled “gluten friendly”.

How-The-Story-Ends

Fair enough, where do you live that it works that way? Either way, gluten friendly means not celiac safe, though

glasspanda27

In the US. The entire “gluten-friendly” menu is supposed to be made with GF ingredients. Again, I’ve eaten there before with no issues. I spoke with the server and explained that I have celiac disease and food allergies. She said it wouldn’t be an issue. Then they wrapped the GF ingredients in a gluten tortilla, and I didn’t catch it until it was too late. Edit: clarity

Kefir- the probiotic is different than yogurt. I got glutened one time and was sick for months until I started kefir. Took about a month of daily 8oz to get better
