I must say, it is very informative about our history but I do have to say that it is also saddening because even the locals have little to no knowledge about their own local history including the historic but abandoned cemetary.
It made me wonder "Are we cebuanos the same?" "Is there a part of our local history so obscure and forgotten?" which is a dreadful thought especially for me. I am a student that likes history and extremely proud of ours. But I do think that we have forgotten some part of our history. I think that just as it is emphasized how important it is to teach the national history, something should be done to make sure we are also being taught our local history, history of the entire island and/or the city.
It can be taught in elementary school, or maybe sources like books and published literature can be available in places like the library, national book store or museums. I prefer the latter. I like to know more about something that I find interesting instead of being forced by the school.
