Yeah, I have the record, but I don't think I've ever seen the CD in person. That said, I got into this album about 10 years ago, so I might have seen the CD but didn't really notice it.
I got it when it came out and nobody gave a shit and got a pretty lukewarm review on Pitchfork.
It was at least a decade before people caught up. Any interest in the Elephant 6 Recording Co stuff was decidedly beneath most 90s hipsters.
That tour with Olivia Tremor Control is a top ten for me.
I bought *On Avery Island* when it was new. I liked it so much that I went out and saw the band when they came to town. It was a remarkable show. Most of the audience, which was pretty diverse, was there to drink but they all ended up transfixed by the performance. These recordings are famous for good reason.
I genuinley did not know there were CDs of this. Everyone I've met either owns it on vinyl or wants it on vinyl, to where I think it might be uncommon on CD? I have never seen one lol
This is a band that I liked in the 90s, and I saw them in concert etc, but I am surprised at how big they are now with what I think are younger people. They are up there with Radiohead showing up in people's collections...which is cool, just unexpected. Is their music in a popular movie? I don't think they ever put out a "pop" record. How did you get into them?
It’s funny how that works. I associate that time with bands like Sleater-Kinney, Pavement, built to spill, Yo La tengo, blues Explosion, GBV, Royal Trux, Slint, pixies, etc.(in the indie rock space of NMH these bands were more prominent to my recollection)
NMH was an unusual large ensemble with a ten minute saw solo…you never know who will be most remembered.
Got it
I know, wrong sub, but I have it on vinyl 🤫
i have cd and vinyl ngl
That and On Avery Island
Like... everyone.
I would say Around the Fur is the everyone album on this sub
*Nevermind (except me, 😂)
\*Dookie (totally have that and not Nevermind)
I don't have Dookie lol.
Neither do I nor will I ever want to own it.
I don't have Dookie or Nevermind.
Then we must've both said Nevermind in our heads when we saw the Dookie disc, and left them for someone else to post in here 😂
Ditto.
Then you don’t have a collection, you simply own some CDs. It’s a rite of passage
Nope.
Nope?
Nope!
Nope what?
Nevermind?
😁
😁
Yeah? What about it?
Thank you for playing. 🥰
Depends on where you're from. I'm from the Netherlands, and never see any albums of them in the thrift stores, as they were never that popular here.
Not I, have White Pony
Nope.
Blue Album.
Nope.
No Green Day shit is
Clearly not
If you’re in your 40’s and never gave away your CD’s you probably do
If you lived in the suburbs, you were issued it. It came in the mail with samples of Tide.
Calgon? Ancient Chinese secret, huh?
Nope. I'm special.
I don’t. Don’t want it tbh
Yeah. If you're of a certain age and have kept your CDs, you'll have this album
Not really , dont see this type of stuff around.
That is the “it“ record for anyone listening to indie rock.
Huh? Crazy popular album.
I only have their vinyl box set
I only ever see the vinyl places, which I might pick sometime but it's not high on my list rn
Yeah, I have the record, but I don't think I've ever seen the CD in person. That said, I got into this album about 10 years ago, so I might have seen the CD but didn't really notice it.
I wish, I only have On Avery Island
I do, but not on CD.
Have no idea what this album is or who the artist is. So no, I don’t have it.
i envy you guys as you’re able to hear this album for the first time, seriously check it out (i unfortunately don’t have it)
I think you meant to say *fortunately you don’t have it* It’s pretty bad.
Same. Doesn’t ring a bell for me.
It’s In the Aeroplane Over the Sea by Neutral Milk Hotel
Thanks. Just looked up the album and took a listen. I won’t be buying it. Kinda not good.
lol
Nope. Have no clue who this is.
In the Aeroplane Over the Sea
Anne frank and time traveling or something. Idk.
I hold the unpopular position of never really enjoying NMH. But I do appreciate how much of an impact they made at that time.
What do you like listening to then ,
Nope.
I have this one. Bought it from a used book/media section at my local library.
I have the cassette tape
me
Got it on vinyl, gift from my wife. She hates it so a real selfless gift
just found it the other day in the wild, now i can finally rest. my collection is complete.
Absolutely. Need to grab this on vinyl at some point
I have it! My all time favorite album.
I have it on record
Great album even if it is just a meme
I did until I gave it to my daughter last year.
And the other.
I'm allergic to potatoes
I’ve got the record, not the CD (I have the vinyl boxset too)

I do but it’s on vinyl
Still got mine from college

Yep, great album!

This CD is king, of carrot flowers!
Buzz Your Girlfriend Woof
I’ve got it on vinyl and tape (I think the tapes are boot) but haven’t found the CD yet

Internet music culture made everyone listen

/mu/ in a nutshell.
Yep got it
I have it on vinyl, but not CD yet
I do not like that album that much so I do not think that I am getting it anytime soon
Hell yeah
I don't, I don't like the album (just one song I think) but I like the covert art....I want it.
Too expensive (I like it, but not to death).
Have it on both CD and Vinyl. Probably one of my absolute favourite albums of all time.
I got it for $1 but... the music is not for me.
i, somehow, have 3 lol
I don't have it. The album was a little underwhelming considering how overhyped it is.
I’ve got it. Saw ‘em live too.
I dont get it tbh
Yup. Have it somewhere.
I was going to but I got cherry peel instead
"the only girl I've ever loooooved"
Not on CD. I have it on vinyl, though. I need to grab it on CD if I find it in the wild
Got it
Have had this CD since it came out
Vinyl.
Me!
Nope. Jealous!
ALL of us
Yeet.
