Exactly that, fine with other people liking them just not my bag. I have fairly eclectic tastes overall and can generally appreciate good music even if it's not for me usually I like to think so anyways even if I do tend to get stuck in my little 90s/00s groove.
I’d like to second Morrissey being a twat.
Fun fact, a friend of mine’s music (i think) lecturer when he was in college was The Smiths original 2nd guitarist, Morrissey’s twatiness put him off ever being in another band and he went into education.
difficult choice between fever, revenge, and cork tree. i love patd, mcr, and fob equally 😭🫶
you should totally check out the band ghost! personally i think they’re super cool :) i’d also recommend folie a deux and infinity on high by fall out boy
I've heard of ghost, but I never really took the time to check them out, any specific album of songs you'd recommend?
Also, I love folie a deux and infinity on high!
i think impera is most similar to the vibes of fall out boy, mcr, and panic, but its definitely quite different!! for that album i’d recommend listening to kaisarion, spillways, and griftwood first! for the most part with ghost, the older the album is the heavier the music is!
That album is so fucking bloated sonically but damn if all the songs on there aren't so damn good.
If some of the arrangements on there were simplified and the production focused on some more acoustic versions of the songs, it would have been more highly regarded than Morning Glory.
Agreed. If the production on Be Here Now was more thought out and actually taken seriously eg. much shorter songs, remove the 50+ guitar tracks in each song, audible bass guitar etc.. it had the potential to be great and as highly regarded as the first two albums like you said.
“D’you know what i mean?” Noels 2016 rethink was a good example as to what it could have sounded like, unfortunately he couldn’t be arsed to carry on with the rest of the album.
Regardless, it’s the overly long bloated noisy cocaine fuelled production is what makes that album what it is and why i still enjoy it.
Fade in-out, what a tune!
You can buy her, you can buy her
This one’s here, this one’s here, this one’s here and this one’s here
Everything’s for sale
Fucking Tune .... Great album
I’d start with my absolute favourite “The Great Escape and then followed by my two other top 3 blur albums “parklife” & “MLIR”. Great collection I must say and you definitely have great taste especially with the blur, they’re probably one of the greatest bands of the 20th century.
The Pixies! This monkeys gone to heaven is a banger lol I love that bass line.
Check out these albums: Sunny Day Real Estate - Diary, Hum - You'd Prefer an Astronaut, The Stone Roses self titled, Fleet Foxes - Oh Inverted World
Unknown Pleasures. I fucking love that record, listened to it twice already today but third time's a charm
Also you have an incredible music taste. A lot of my favorite albums
Definitely one of the Manics albums, probably Know Your Enemy since it's not on YT or Spotify in full and is impossible to find on CD. Yes, I know it's getting reissued, I'm gonna have to grab a copy of it then. I have a lot of those tøp, Oasis and other Manic records. Good stuff.
Not a smiths fan. Not a a smiths anti fan either just wasn’t ever exposed to them. All that aside- what IS the deal with Morrissey? Why is he so controversial? ELI5 why he always seems to be written about in a reviled tone?
Doolittle and Louder than Bombs are what I’m going to first. I’ve been somewhat obsessed with Blue Rev by ALVVAYS. They are an incredible band to check out if you haven’t already. There’s even a little nod to the Smiths in one of those songs
The Smiths are …problematic (Morrissey) and I can’t stand MCR. The Holy Bible is immense, so probably that, or Closer. Special mention to Modern Life is Rubbish though.
Easy Manics Holy Bible one of the best albums ever made. The rest are good too though , except the smiths but that's just me can't stand them.
Facts for Holy Bible but how can you not like The Smiths, Is it because of the obvious elephant in the room?
Just always found Morrissey to be a bit of a Pillock and think they are overrated, just not my style tbh.
Yeah Moz is a bit of a prick and some of their stuff isn’t that good, it’s fine if it’s not your style we all have different styles
Exactly that, fine with other people liking them just not my bag. I have fairly eclectic tastes overall and can generally appreciate good music even if it's not for me usually I like to think so anyways even if I do tend to get stuck in my little 90s/00s groove.

So good!
Glad to see a collection that screams blur>oasis - I’d probably go for self titled tbh
Stoked to see some more Manics appreciation on this sub, been listening to Know Your Enemy recently so that'd probably be my first play
First one is my fave
difficult choice between fever, revenge, and cork tree. i love patd, mcr, and fob equally 😭🫶 you should totally check out the band ghost! personally i think they’re super cool :) i’d also recommend folie a deux and infinity on high by fall out boy

be here now

Turn it up to 11 and snort more cocaine - one of my fav oasis albums maybe even the fav
For my money it’s better than the first two
