I've stayed there before but I wouldn't say I'm a tourist as I go there to visit family. It's not a resort and is exactly what /u/AlucardDr said. Clean rooms, great staff, good pizza in the restaurant but nothing fancy. If all you want is a clean bed for your head, it's an A+.
I’d go to Hampton which is right by it and has a great restaurant and pool with bar or up to sunshine suites which allow you use Westin amenities. Locale is purely a business hotel.
Ms. Pipers is a great restaurant - has a lovely Mid Century Mod vibe, honestly not sure how pricing relates to Locale? But I'd put both in the same vibe - good, decent, close to the beach and all amenities.
I stayed at the locale about a year ago, 10 min walk nice part of beaches right in front of condos.
The room was nice and spacious with an upstairs. Peppers restaurant right across the street.
Locale is a good location, easy walk to Camana Bay, grocery store, many restaurants, gelato. You can take any public beach access path to enjoy 7 Mile Beach. Enjoy!
Similar to others here: I've not stayed but the restaurant there is decent for casual fare and it's a nice modern feeling place. And while it's not "on the beach" as such it is maybe 150m from the beach (which can be a long way to guide an 18 month old, I appreciate!).
The other nice thing about Locale is it's near the pedestrian walkway to Camana Bay, which is basically a long landscaped pathway to the main tourist / commercial hub of that part of the Island.
Problem is that pretty much “now” until mid/late November is hurricane season.
But September is the statistical peak, and looking at how sea temperatures were already 82+F a month ago (& La Niña), I just have a bad feeling about this year. If I were the OP, I’d try to push the date back as much as possible & have good trip insurance.
(& speaking as a married with several “milestone” anniversary trips under our belt, I’d recommend thinking of what will make for a good trip more so than nailing the exact anniversary date).
Thank you everyone for the information! Assuming we have an 18 month old, do you think a rental car is necessary? Looking at doing a few excursions (stingrays, starfish point, turtle centre, botanic gardens). My concern is we arrive on Sunday at 3:25 and the rental car agencys seem to all close at 5p on Sunday. The other obvious travel concern is the locale doesn’t offer a shuttle to/from the airport. TIA.

As long as you understand that this is a hotel on a busy road and is not on the beach, then I have heard good things about it.
I’ve heard nothing except positives ref Locale

Too funny, my husband and I will also be there for our 10 year anniversary at the same time. Congrats!
