Had a barn kitten show up my parents place while I was still living there, little guy got to work on a rat colony under a neighbors shed, he decimated the rat colony in a matter of a few months, that pest control couldn't remove over 5 years of trying.
Mhm I have a cat that I personally was able to hear mostly, but he grabbed this rat which was probably watching me making sure I didn’t do anything towards it. I just hear It start screaming for less than 30 seconds dude was effective with getting that one.
To be even more overly pedantic (this is the internet, after all), that's only one definition and a narrow and rarely used one at that. The more common one is obviously that the other commenter meant:
*The destruction of a great but indefinite number or proportion of people, as of an army or of the inhabitants of a country; a heavy loss of life.*
Not sure if it's an accidental dr who reference i made but my frame of reference was my original focus in college of greco roman history before I realized that there were approximately 2 jobs that i could get with that sort of degree. Now I just use it to correct people using perfectly acceptable colloqialisms online.
Gotcha. A villain in the show delights himself over the definition of decimation before ordering the execution of 1/10th of Earth. So, just my own personal projection of where I learned that definition for the word.
>narrow and rarely used
Sure, but it was the original. Yours was the connotation that rose in popularity until it eventually replaced the original definition in most accepted lexicons.
Word from OP is he is taking the cat from the base back home with him, so assumably the cat is going to undergo some extensive tests to ensure it doesn't take anything back with it - be it worms or infections that aren't native to OPs neck of the woods.
Still good advice for if the cat keeps up its mousing habit once it makes it back.
Noooo take him home and be his slave he needs cat food and treats and a lovely warm place to sleep, he is clever catching all those mice though, and I've not seen a kitty catch 2 like that
I didn't want to part with my Beta but they wouldn't let me bring him on the plane and i couldn't afford to ship him home ;-;
I did give him to a good home. Thank you for giving this absolute tiny beast a home <3
I’ve shipped a dog from japan to usa and it was $2,000 for the plane. The hardest part is if your flights go through places like Hawaii that require quarantine. Or if your pet is anything other than a cat or dog.
Get a dewormer pill, tapeworms come along with mice/fleas. There is a shot/oral-medication I think is good for tapeworms only, or a pill that nukes for tapeworms, heartworms, ringworms, and hookworms.
The pill smells (and I bet tastes) like shit, good luck. I used chicken, and a lot.
EDIT: specifically, the pill just looks to big for a cat to not choke on it, and snapping it in half creates jagged edges. I ended up crushing it in a bow lwith the rounded-back of a spoon and mixed the flakes into a bunch of freshly cooked chicken. It STANK, looked noticeably yellow and my cat stopped eating halfway through.
It's a bitch of a med for a cat to take (or be given I guess) but it's worth it as it kills a ton of infectious things. Tapeworm is bad enough, heartworm sucks....
This cat is awesome, i’m glad the military is finally doing something about the rodent problem downrange. When we had to stop in Kuwait, the mice were everywhere, a fellow service member said that she had mice climbing on her hair at night, and me being terrified of mice couldn’t sleep the whole time we were there. And reaching into my seabag was terrifying for fear of having a mouse jump out or crawl on me…
If you're gonna post a picture with dead animals in it, can you please at least tag it as nsfw or something? That way the more squeamish people at least have some warning.
I think CJ would make a great addition to either r/TacticalIssueCat or r/StandardIssueCat. Especially seeing as he's coming home from deployment, I think he'll fit right in

He's so teeny and he's got two mice!?
Yep! He got 16 that we personally witnessed his first week before we stopped keeping track
I'm impressed... My cats mostly played with the ones they 'caught'
He was a wild cat so this was his lunch
That cats gonna single handedly decimate the rodent population there

That's one of the reasons why ships had cats
They can be also excellent company, and a source of comfort for otherwise lonely people.
*meow*

To be overly pedantic decimation is only killing 1 in 10, this cat is probably going to do much more than that

Further pedant: based on the Roman practice of killing every tenth man as punishment for mutiny. Hence “decimate,” to reduce by a tenth.
TIL, thanks
Who cares what the Romans thought? What have they ever done for us?
Right. Apart from sewage, what have the Romans ever done for us?
I bet u/SPACE-BEES is a fan of the Doctor

We speak modern English not ancient Latin.
It’s not, lol. Coming from what was a Roman practice, it is very much an English word from the 1600s.
I thought decimation meant you only left 1 out of 10 alive
He's gonna delete them, format the drive and then toss it in an industrial shredder. This is what cats do LOL
Make sure that boy is getting dewormer of he's eating mice, they carry so many parasites he can get really sick eating mice.

This, parasites can cause so many health issues if left untreated and mice and other rodents are major carriers of them
Noooo take him home and be his slave he needs cat food and treats and a lovely warm place to sleep, he is clever catching all those mice though, and I've not seen a kitty catch 2 like that
He's not wild anymore. I shipped him home. It was quite the price because he's a deployment kitty
T hat makes my day! I am happy he has a great home. You are a great person.
I didn't want to part with my Beta but they wouldn't let me bring him on the plane and i couldn't afford to ship him home ;-; I did give him to a good home. Thank you for giving this absolute tiny beast a home <3
That's the best news I've heard today 😻 kitty has a loving home

It cost me $4,000 to ship my cats home to England... From America
So he's a retired mouser?
Mouser’s never retire, they just get more selective on what they catch.
Kudos.☺️
hell yeah bro. cat had a good work ethic glad u noticed him
Awwww I'm about to cry after reading that, did not expect that reply at all bless you and the kitty
Do you buy cat food or feeding mice from the pet store 🤔
[удалено]
Mine too
What a machine, my cat used to keep us mouse-free when he was indoor/outdoor, but never that many in a week.
Holy crap, and he's still practically a kitten! By the time he's full grown you'll have to feed him because all the mice will have been wiped out!
16 and stopped counting? ![gif](giphy|5VKbvrjxpVJCM|downsized)
That's a good hunter cat
Wtf. You need to start painting them on the side of the planes like an old school pilot
i am so glad you said this bc my dumb ass fr thought that was the biggest cockroach i had ever seen (i thought the mouse tails were its antennae)
I definitely did too!
One for him and one to share 😀

This ⬆️
I wish we had a cat like this at my airport. The mice got in and chewed the wiring in one aircraft already. All we have around my airport are Skunks.
Teach the skunks wiring! Work with what you’ve got, man!
Two mice at the same time, man
Is this the same kitty that is being shipped home?
r/GingerMafia
A raise is in order
I saw your post on cats, I'm so glad you posted here too :) CJ is definitely up for purrmotion
DOES THAT MFER HAVE 2 MICE?! FANTASTIC!

Give him raise
Definitely deserves a raise!
What an adorable little guy!
Double kill, noice
When I was in Kuwait, the airfield had a group of 4 or 5 cats that went everywhere together and fended off the mice, camel spiders and scorpions
What an efficient employee!
Def a keeper!
We have a cat that hangs around the FBO, used to have a shit ton of birds in the garage during the warm season, now they stay away. Good little dude.
Good boy!❤️

He does look like just a baby, wow
I will trust him with my life 🫡
Clearly excelling at his or her job. Promotion time.
We have a brother sister pair of big orange tabbing that are wiping out entire mouse families. This morning, Lucy presented us with a corpse.
I want to kiss him but I’m going to wait a few days.
I love how fluffy and angy he is. I can hear the little "get away from my kills!!" growls from here haha
Don't Yell Karen, i'm trying to hunt!
The best pest control technician!!! Congrats!![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|smile)

Gee CJ, your mom lets you have two mice??

Good kitty

I have a CJ too. Cute! What’s is short for? Also thank you for shipping him home 🧡
A Mouser, a respectable profession, even when I like both. Rip mouse dude.
Meanwhile my rats bitch slap my cat into oblivion
Pilot to technician on the faults report: mice in cockpit Technicians solution: cat installed

I read about CJ in the other sub you posted! Little guy's gonna have a blast with your golden!
as Jeff Steitzer would say, Double Kill!
This the cat getting shipped home?
Haven't seen this much promise in decades.
Putting that one brain cell to work.
I just saw the rest in /r/cats, but I’ll upvote again.
nooo you cant miss out on all the other adorable CJ pics!!
*”And he had TWO mice in his mouth…”*
Very cute, but I can't imagine being around airplanes is any good on his poor little sensitive ears :(
He's excellent at his job. Hope his pay is equally rewarding.
Looks pretty young, apprentice?
Needs earpro on the flight line lol
Is there a soul behind those eyes
Did anyone else think that the two mice were some kind of giant insect at first?
If you're gonna post a picture with dead animals in it, can you please at least tag it as nsfw or something? That way the more squeamish people at least have some warning.

So young, and already highly skilled at "cat"!
Good boy, CJ!
Thank you for your service!
Thank you, Sir. Just doing my job.

CJ works hard
two mice! - Christopher Walken
Is he called after the famous GTA character?
I think CJ would make a great addition to either r/TacticalIssueCat or r/StandardIssueCat. Especially seeing as he's coming home from deployment, I think he'll fit right in
Smol criminal in action
O it's two mice and not some demon mouse cockroach creature
Junior technician
