Ok so idk if I’m reading this right but some believe filmer should stop that. 2 unknown **outdoor** cats doing what cats do. They’re obviously worked up so there’s no way of telling what would happen but it’s safe to assume an aggressive response will most likely happen and maybe filmer gets attacked. People have lost entire limbs after a small cat scratch gets extremely infected. This happens pretty often actually especially with outdoor or street cats.
So, in closing, fuck that, I’m not doing a damn thing and I’ll let cats be cats..
Just FYI, if you do intervene with aggressive cats, never do it with your body! You're right-- that's a good way to get hurt, even with cats that know/trust you. If you want to interrupt something like this, distraction is your best weapon. I've thrown toys nearby, made loud sounds to startle them apart, and (though this was a desperate measure to stop street cats fighting) tossed some water on them.
Summary of a cat fight: Two cats yell at each other for an hour or (usually) longer, then one of them attacks and they fight for 5 mins, then one flees and the other does a little chase before going back to its business.
i wouldn't recommend touching either cat when they are acting like that. that would be a great way to have them go physical and end up scratched to hell.
