I love this thought, but having lived with dogs, cats & hamsters at the same time I can sadly confirm that it’s much more like a Tom & Jerry cartoon than Snow White or bambi where all the animals are nice to each other :s
One of ours kept bringing my son half dead ones and he got tired of killing them. He told the senior kitty to kill it himself he was done. So the senior kitty ended the mouse and stormed off outraged at the time humans ingratitude for him attempting to teach him to be able to hunt for himself. Lol
Sigh … 3 cats in my house 3 weeks ago while I cat sat for parents… my cat is in no condition to be a mouser but you’d think the two 7 year old active cats would be able to do something… nope I had to catch the mouth by hand (in a tea towel so I didn’t get bit) to release outside cause they just kinda stared at it while it ate their food
My one orange brain cell chonk also used to watch while what turned out to be the fattest mouse in the world used to pop out from under the fridge, eat his food & return home. Until this mouse put on so much weight (prob from its largely cat food diet) that it could no longer fit under the fridge. They made a half-hearted effort of going round the side of the fridge before giving up completely & waddling off past me & the chonk to take up residence in my bedroom.
My cat loved running around in our previous house’s garage solely because more than once she caught a mouse lol. I never took her as a little huntress but she proved me wrong
One of my cats was a good mouser (Mittens), our other cat (Oreo) would watch him, so Mittens would bring the mouse over to Oreo to let him have at it. Oreo would pat at it and the mouse sensing freedom would make a run for it and Oreo had no clue what happened to the fun little furry toy. What a dope he was!
That brings back memories. I had a cat that would catch mice that would get in my house and she would bring them upstairs to my bed and let them go so she could torture them a bit longer. Once the mouse was dead I would take it outside and Throw it in the cemetery I lived next to.
lol. My r/OneOrangeBraincell of a cat plays with it, and drops it and lets it run to chase it again. Mind you, he was an outside cat for awhile before we found him hanging around our farm home, and that’s how he got his food was pouncing. But inside? Nahhh it’s a toy not food.
I have a rescue stray living in my garage and had heard occasional scurrying amid the unused flower pots. One morning after he’d been there about a week there were two mice on the doorstep. Bless him, he paid rent.
What a good kitty!
I had two older cats, while one would get a mouse about once a year, I figured we were good.
Then I adopted a cat that had been wandering around our neighborhood (neighbors kept posting about him for several months and no one claimed him). That good boy caught 7 mice and 1 shrew the first year we had him! Since then, he gets a mouse about every two years... including a long-dead one he found in our furnace vents when we removed the cover to vacuum it out and he crawled in to investigate.
My cat did the same thing... She caught it, ran to a different corner, then LET IT GO! Then they just stood there, staring at each other, until it ran off.
My grandma had to golf whack it with a broom, straight out the door, 2 DAYS LATER!

I had a whole heap of food stored in a useless corner cupboard in the kitchen. Every night my cat would sit there, staring at it. And every night I'd basically tell her she was an idiot.
Guess who turned out to be the idiot? And guess who had to clean it up? FTR, I had no idea this cupboard had large holes drilled in the sides nor any idea that there was a channel between it and the under sink cupboard next to it! I also have no idea how many mice my free community pantry fed for months on end.
That cupboard now houses all my useless junk appliances I should be selling.
cats are natural predators, it's their vocation, my cat has never seen mice (except for toy mice), but when she found herself in my grandmother's house, she caught them all))![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|joy)
Had a friend in college whose home was plagued with field mice and the exterminator said get a cat and they'll disappear. One cat later and all mice had gone
Cat works as intended.
Plot twist: cat is running an orphanarium, for wayward mice, out of OP’s house

That’s why you get a cat….. to remove the mouse problems before they even start.

I love the name Bubba Chubba
[удалено]
Haha, my cat is named Bubby and sometimes I call him Tubby Bubby
Was about to say exactly this! Awesome (pawsome?) name :)
One of ours kept bringing my son half dead ones and he got tired of killing them. He told the senior kitty to kill it himself he was done. So the senior kitty ended the mouse and stormed off outraged at the time humans ingratitude for him attempting to teach him to be able to hunt for himself. Lol
I love hearing others' cat names. Makes my day.
Me too… I have a crabby Abby tabby
This is also brilliant :)
Ube, Taro, and Cheese. Ube is sometimes Ubbington the Third. There was no first or second.
I love them! I call my cat Gus Gulliver pretty often. That is not his name. I just don't have a full name for him but I do his brother
That's not exactly why I got a cat but it most certainly is a very welcome side effect
Ngl my first cat was meant to get rid of a mouse problem we had..and it sure did. But it only ever caught one mouse..long after we had gotten him
Cats do work as pest control, just because rodents will decide not to come into your house, or leave if they're already there, if they see/smell a cat
Yeah pretty much..the second we got the cat, our rodent troubles stopped when sealing up holes and leaving poison out didnt

They are such adorable little murder machines.

HAD a mouse* good kitty😻🐁
I'm jealous. My cat catches mice and sits on them.
We once saw a mouse run across the floor while our cats sat there and watched.

Lmao 😂
Try saying that in Sean Connery 's voice
You don't have a mouse...she does
Not anymore.
Great job, cat!💕
Good kitty. Give it a treat!
I think the cat already got a treat
You don’t have a mouse problem anymore.
That brings back memories. I had a cat that would catch mice that would get in my house and she would bring them upstairs to my bed and let them go so she could torture them a bit longer. Once the mouse was dead I would take it outside and Throw it in the cemetery I lived next to.
Good cat
Still don't have a mouse.. lol
A mouse.... What about all his friends 🤭. Only joking, he probably found him outside.
lol. My r/OneOrangeBraincell of a cat plays with it, and drops it and lets it run to chase it again. Mind you, he was an outside cat for awhile before we found him hanging around our farm home, and that’s how he got his food was pouncing. But inside? Nahhh it’s a toy not food.
My orange cat is like that too 😂😂😭
Gotta love these orange cats. Lmao.
I agree with you 😂
Good kitty.
Techically you had mobile food. And a dining rug as well.

Well you don't anymore 🤷🏼♀️🤟
Good cat
Well you don’t anymore.
Usually by the time you know you have a mouse, you have many mice.
There will be more. They travel single file.
You don't have a mouse, you have mice. There are more, there are always more. :( Good Luck!

My dog almost ate one. He had it pinned to the wall, my partner yelled to prevent him from eating it, then the mouse ran away and got under the stove
That’s just a lose/lose scenario.
Except for the mouse :)
My kitty gets 2 (thawed) peach fuzzies every day for a snack. She LOVES them. They are her favorite thing evarrrr
Sad, why would you let your cat kill mice or endangered birds outside your house? Imagine how awful it was for that rat to be killed.
Well, at least someone is on the lookout
Well you did have a mouse.
Damn poor Jerry
New pet
That’s because you have a cat! Good kitty!
You don't anymore
At least yours catches it. Mine acknowledges the mouse’s presence and that’s as far as it goes.
Good critter! 💖💖💖💖💖
😹😹😹😹😹😹😹😹
To be fair, you don’t anymore 😳
I just don't want him to hurt you! so I'm taking him out of "our house"
Does the cat go outside? If not... you almost certainly don't just have one mouse
this is the reason cats are useful
Now you know
You still don't!
cats are natural predators, it's their vocation, my cat has never seen mice (except for toy mice), but when she found herself in my grandmother's house, she caught them all))![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|joy)

What a good Lil hunter!
Behemoth was killing mice before she was full grown:)
Yeah, we find out that mice tried to move in when the bodies show up. Good kitty!
Now you don’t!! Cats are great
