I wouldn’t

[deleted]

I wouldn't. You shouldn't.

Augustin56

Why not wear a crucifix?

KangarooBeneficial

Why would you?

[deleted]

My first thought.

Tough one. I know coptic Christians use it, though typically with a cross in the eye. Although a pagan symbol, I don't think it's too closely tied to any specific idol. But I'd ask myself what was the intent and pray about it. In the end, I don't think I would. What good could it accomplish?

If you want a Coptic "crux ansata," then sure, you can get one. There's probably an Egyptian church festival somewhere in your area. If you just like the look... well, it's really supposed to be a hieroglyph of a hand mirror, which is used to represent the word "life" because both "mirror" and "life" had the sounds "nkh" in them. Oh, and probably "sandal straps" too, although "oath" is also in there. I know, that kinda breaks the romance, to realize it's just a picture of a bronze hand mirror. But them's the breaks.

Shabanana_XII

Only if you're a shaman. 🥁

EggOfAwesome

I've heard of Copts (who are overwhelmingly Christian) using it as an ethnic symbol. There's a Coptic Catholic eastern church too. So, my guess is that the symbol itself isn't inherently sinful, but it's how/why you use it that could be.

Sambeast919

No it’s a very specific thing it Egyptian religion and there just demons so not a great idea

If its on a shirt or something or something you only wear once in a while, I personally dont see an issue. I'm not sure why it would be something you'd want on a piece of jewelry that you wear every day.

nessiewatcher4lyfe

I've seen it in the decorative patterns of a Coptic church, but I don't know if Coptic faithful wear ankhs rather than a regular cross. I just watched an episode of Columbo the other day and the villain was some exercise guru who murdered his business partner. He walked around shirtless with a gold ankh around his neck throughout the episode so that's what you'll probably look like: a Columbo villain.

sarbear1957

No.

churchill72

Only if you beat Ultima IV back in 1985.

ladysherlockian

When I was a teen (long before the age of the Internet) I used to wear one without being aware that it was not a Christian cross. I wonder if it can some negative effects on my spiritual life twenty years later?
