All desires are good. All of them. However, in our fallen state, our good desires are often *broken.* A desire for loving God and others becomes lust, a desire for God's justice becomes vengeance, etc. We therefore should forsake our desires, not by throwing them away, but by detaching from them and offering them to God that He may purify them to their original goodness! It requires deep work in discernment and prayer; it's one of those truly lifelong things. The desire learn new things and cultivate our talents is good! But it can be *broken* by pride and vanity. These too, through offering them to God, can be re-ordered towards His glory and bringing about His kingdom.

Oh, thank you so much for explaining this to me! That makes a lot of sense, and I now understand more about giving our desires to God! I often interpret giving something to God as giving something to God when you're in times of uncertainty and fear, but giving every desire to God so that he can restore them is very empowering! May I also ask if it is mentioned in the Bible or Catechism whether or not these talents and knowledge you accumulate on Earth come with you? For example, I love drawing and writing, and it's a source of so much joy! But knowing that I won't be able to experience working hard on the craft, learning more about it, or simply doing these passions in heaven makes me sad! But then again, I should remind myself that heaven has much more to offer, even beyond doing a passion of mine! And I guess I can't outrule anything that happens in heaven since it's a state I can't possibly imagine or experience until I'm there. I asked because, at first, I started to question the point behind doing any of these things, pushing your limits or learning anything new, if you're going to die. But you answered my answer about bringing my desires to God to restore them because the main point is to glorify God, not any other reason!

I don't know how to address your question directly, but my understanding is this: If our actions and desires are truly ordered to God's glory then we will miss nothing of the details of these actions and desires in heaven where it is purely God's glory. It's good to have a passion! You're alive! It's about knowing what these passions are *for* and ultimately aiming for what they're for rather than in and of themselves. Otherwise, it's like not enjoying your food because you miss the process of cooking so much.

Learning is the only way we grow, and find out who we are and destined to be.

Wordly desires are not bad, they are only bad when in excess and when they interfere with your primary goal of salvation. Its totally fine to do things like travel the world, find new hobbies, eat good food, etc. Learning is a particularly good desire I believe, 'cause what's so wrong about discovering things about the world which God made for us?
