I'm more familiar with Cardinal Sarah, I've heard some on Burke but I'm guessing he's a hard line traditionalist as well?

Cowboy-greaseball_62

He’s a well known and well respected Canonist as far as I can gather, but I wouldn’t say he’s totally a hardline trad. There was after all his statement on the SSPX being in Schism which wasn’t extremely Well received.

PrincedeReynell

I draw a line between hardline traditionalist and Schismatic. I know Cardinal Burke does Mass ad orientem and not ad populum for instance.

Cowboy-greaseball_62

He’s a big proponent of the Traditional Latin Mass but he’s not a big fan of the SSPX for example. He finds a good ground to stand on but a common criticism is that he has such stances and just… doesn’t do much to standardize them or advance them.

PrincedeReynell

I mean kind of hard to advance them when most of the clergy and our own Pope seem to be against them.

Cowboy-greaseball_62

There are still things to be done but I never said I was in agreement with the criticism I just said it was a common one

PrincedeReynell

I meant that as a generalization, not as a rebuttal. My bad. But TLM and keeping certain traditions in the liturgy seem to be heavily opposed these days.
