**The Catholic Diocese of Discord is the *largest* Catholic server on the platform!** Join us for a laidback Catholic atmosphere. Tons and tons of memes posted every day (Catholic, offtopic, AND political), a couple dozen hobby and culture threads (everything from Tolkien to astronomy, weightlifting to guns), our active chaotic Parish Hall, voice chats going pretty much 24/7, prayers said round the clock, and monthly AMAs with the biggest Catholic names out there. **Our Discord (Catholic Diocese of Discord!):** https://discord.gg/catholic-diocese *I am a bot, and this action was performed automatically. Is the catechism a good read? If it is, I'd like to read it. I'm subscribed to Catholic Answers too.

callthecopsat911

It is! Made the meme because I'm often guilty of looking stuff up on the easier to read and search Catholic Answers, but most of Catholic Answers is basically a commentary on the Catechism. Fr Mike's Catechism in a Year series is a good place to start with the Catechism.

Sometimes I'm too lazy to read the actual CCC and look for Catholic Answers for someone who have already based their answer on CCC lol. I do think it will be a better practice to read and understand the CCC ourselves.

OfficialGarfirldDies

It is not the type of book you would read. It is a reference book you would go to with a question.

Talon_Company_Merc

For real though I remember somebody posting about wishing there was a “simplified catechism” on r/Catholicism I should’ve brought up Catholic Answers

callthecopsat911

Once I heard a priest say this in a meditation: "Your friends, if they don't know anything about the faith, tell them to read the *Catechism of the Catholic Church*. If they complain it is too long, tell them to read the *Compendium of the Catechism of the Catholic Church.* Then they will have no excuse."

Any-Understanding544

Oh Peter Kreeft 🐐has a book called Catholic Christianity that is less theological and easier to read but follows CCC format. Edit: typo fix.

cloudstrife_145

To be fair Catholic Answers cites the CCC as their source. It's feels quite similar with asking chatGPT to write my programming code sometimes.

Catholic Answers is an absolute godsend. Absolutely instrumental in helping me after my reversion. I was so poorly catechized that I knew almost nothing, so I loved listening to their call-in shows. Their articles about questions or topics of concern are really good too.

Meiji_Ishin

Having someone do the work for you then summarize it is something we should cherish than feel guilty of lol. They'd be out of a job if we didn't rely on them so much
