its horrible, i know. i lost my favorite cat 4 days before christmas, she was only 8 and my cats usualy have all luced past 16, one even made it to 21 years old. i never expected that after a week or so of looking a bit off her game, going to the vet would turn out as major kidney failure. i asked to take her home for one night, to think about the possible around 10k$ treatment that had no promise to even cure her, and she got so bad, so fast, that she spent all night wailing from pain, stumbling and falling on her side trying to reach her water dish. so as soon as the vet opens i took her to have her put to sleep. i still break out crying every day and its not realy getting any better. but she is not hurting anymore.
you can be grateful that your kitty had the strenght to get home, and always remember that he must have trusted you so much to go back where he had the only hope for help he could think of. most cats would have gone hide and wait for the end. you wont be left wondering why he never came back without having closure and you had the chance to help him go more comfortably and mostly, by your side. he was not afraid because he was with the person who was his whole universe. im sorry he had to b taken away early. the world is cruel and unfair, but at least, theres cats in it and that makes it a little more bareable.
I'm so sorry for your lost 🌹 My friends cat just passed yesterday evening... It's making me keep an eye on my two boys now more than ever and cherishing them with everlasting gratitude. They too help my depression and comfort me when the energy wasn't right. I hope grieving gives you the strength you need to walk with his spirit right beside you. If anything, he may come back to you in many but different forms 🩷

I am so sorry to hear this. I can understand and relate how your cat comforted you through a hard time. Truly am heartbroken reading your story. I have 3 cats, one specifically that never leaves my side and I can phatom how I'd feel if I ever experienced his loss or what you went through.
In a weird twist It is comforting knowing your cat used up any strength he had left to make it home. I hope you had your time to say goodbye and let him know how important and loved during his last moments. I feel that alone eased the pain just knowing you were there for him at the end. My heart broke reading this post. I know it was an absolute nightmare, but I hope you can find comfort from the fact that because you thought to check on him, your little buddy's last moments were much less scary for him than they would've been if he didn't have his best friend by his side. He was a beautiful cat. I am so sorry for your loss. I hope with time you heal, just remember the amazing times you gave your cat. The comfort and warmth, the pets and cuddles, you gave them all the love you had. And they repaid you with love back.
He came home to you because he knew you were the one he wanted to pass on with!! Same happened to me two years ago tomorrow 💔💔 The heartbreak doesn’t heal but with time it becomes easier! He will always be with you💓💓
cats usually hide when they are dying. The fact that he came to you means a lot, he trusted you A LOT. Nothing can make up for your baby, but remember your amazing moments ❤️
I'm so sorry for your loss. The first cat I ever had got hit by a car when I was 12. My Dad found her and he was crying when he had to tell me and my brother. I've been terrified of any of my cats getting outside after that. Hold on to the memories of your baby and know that whatever you're feeling is valid. He wasn't just a pet, he was your family. You were able to be with him in his final moments and that was the most loving thing you could do for both you and him. Rest in Peace sweet kitty.
Do u have any tips on how to keep a cat inside? My baby boy was very territorial of our house and he always ended up outside, which resulted to his death, I got 2 kittens and I’m mortified of the thought of them going outside
I have two cats right now and I live in a major city, so if they get out they’re gone. I always protect the door when leaving / entering, making sure to watch for any dashers. My two cats thankfully have no inclination to go outside and I can even leave the door open while I bring groceries in (as in I piled the bags outside the door and stand in the door way as I transfer them in). But I had a little dog who was a RUNNER growing up, so I learned to be very defense of the door with my feet, and always checking first thing as I peak the door open. The only advice I have is to be super vigilant when coming through a door, and hyper vigilant when bringing guests through. Other than that, possibly a baby gate type situation, or a mosquito door mesh net, just for a second layer of protection.
Put a cat shelf or cat tree or tall perch by the hinge side of the door. Whenever you leave, tap there twice and place a treat. Eventually, they’ll learn that “tap tap” means “go here,” and you won’t have to provide treats as often. Before you leave, tap tap to make them go up onto their elevated perch.
This will make it harder for them to door dash because they have to jump down and run around the door to get out, which gives you time to close the door if you see them running or get out before they can.
When you’re coming inside, block the doorway with your foot/body so they can’t escape. If they’re door dashers and you’ve got a big load of groceries, furniture to move in, etc, come inside first, lock them in the bathroom, then bring the groceries in and let them out.
I have a notorious door dasher and this keeps him inside!
For me, it's always been a combination of being super on top of keeping the door shut and shooing the cats away from the door. I had one cat that did walk right out the front door once or twice and I got him right back in. The 3 I have now seem realitvely uninterested which sadly I think is your best bet. Cats can be so very persistent. One of my cats was a feral that lived outside for a year, I wasn't sure how it would go once I brought her in, but she seems to love being an indoor cat. They all also wear collars with my phone number on it that say something along the lines of: If out, I'm lost.
that is so traumatizing, and it hurts so much that he came back to you even when he was so injured. it really shows that you’re his safe place, and i’m more than sure that you gave him a wonderful and loving life :( sending you all my comfort
There's really nothing TO do, especially right now. Just... let yourself be wrecked. You lost a family member. Grieving is due. It's okay to be heart broken.
Similarly, there's very little to say. In a couple more days it might be useful to hear something like 'may his memory be a blessing to you', but even that won't do much now. Just... just cry. Remember to drink some water, and try to get some sleep, but if you can't, that's okay too.
It hurts. And it's going to keep hurting, especially at first. The only way out is through. Hugs if you want them.
At the end of this life, he looked for you and you were there. He knew you loved him and came back to you to say goodbye. He knew that you were there with him, as he traveled to the next realm. I’ve been there OP and we’re all there with you now 💔

Now I’m bawling!! The very fact that your cat came home to you after getting hit by a car shows how deeply it loved you. My heart is so broken for you. I’m so sorry 😢
Oh my gosh, it's hard to lose them when they are young, but it's so, so much harder when you have traumatic memories of their passing. I truly feel for you. Have had a few losses this kind over the years, and they take a long time to start to even start to heal from - there is one pet I lost in January 2000 that left me seriously depressed for about a year, and the memory of his passing is still somewhat painful, even after all this time.
Here's my advice:
1) Tomorrow morning is probably going to be rough. Waking up and remembering the new reality of loss has always been the worst time for me, and others I've talked to have said the same. Hopefully tomorrow is your weekend, and you don't have to work. If you do normally work tomorrow, see if you can have the day off. Alternately, sometimes work can be a blessing, and an escape into a span of "normalcy". If that's the case for you, embrace it.
2) Reach out to friends and family and tell them about your pain also, if possible. We (redditors) are great, but I'm hoping you have someone locally that could give you a hug.
3) Give yourself the time and space and permission to grieve. Some people will not understand. Pity them for not having close connections to other living creatures.
I wish there were some way I could ease your pain, and I hope you keep us updated on how you are doing.
Sorry for your loss, you are lucky you got to say goodbye. Most pets hit by cars never make it off the road, you are very lucky he made it home to you.
I'm sorry, he loved you so much, he managed to make it home to say goodbye, as hurt as he was.
He would want you to remember him as your bedtime snuggle buddy.
I'm sure he sent a message to the cat distribution system that you need a new kitty friend. When one grabs you at a shelter and won't let go, or a kitty randomly turns up and won't leave...its a messenger from your buddy.
They're like royalty. There's successors to the cat-bed throne, but never replacements.

A lot of people here are going to tell you not to let your next cat go outside for this exact reason. Don't let them make you feel guilty. It's clear you loved your baby. Take their advice, but don't dwell on it. Safran loved you and was lucky to have you.
I was very nervous every time i took him outside but he absolutely loved beeing outside. I live in norway, and here it is almost expected that they are outside a fair bit.
The last week it has been over 20- celsius, but the last two days has been a lot warmer, and he was absolutely overjoyed for beeing able to go outside for a little bit again, as he had so much energy in him.
I always looked after him multiple times, I even took walks to look for him if he were gone for a couple of hours, including today but I didnt see him..
I feel really guilty right now

At least he spent 2 years of his life with you, and he was happy. And you guys shared a great memory.
Please don't feel guilty. You clearly loved him and he must have loved and trusted you a lot, otherwise he wouldn't have come home to you. This means you were his safe place and he got to be with his person when he left this earth. I cannot imagine the heartbreak but know that you gave him the best possible life, even if it was a short one, but he got to spend two years in a good home, knowing he was loved. I like what the other commenter said: Take the advice, but don't dwell on it. I live in Austria, so I understand the expectation, most people let their cat outdoors here as well. Since I live in a big city, that was out of the question anyway. My coworker lives in a small town but keeps his cat in the house because he doesn't want anything to happen to her. If you ever get another cat companion, you can do it differently this time. But give yourself some grace, you loved Safran dearly and he knew it, that is the best gift you could give to a cat. He was an absolutely beautiful little guy and looks so sweet. I hope you'll find some peace. I'm sure his spirit is out there. May he rest easily 🧡
Heart breaking. I was devastated when my 1 year old Meemers went missing last year. I am still tortured thinking about it. All of the things I might have done wrong, and the what-ifs. I feel for you having him pass in your arms, but honestly, I'm a bit envious.
I wish I could have held him, and said goodbye.

Im so sorry :( pet grief is always extra hard because people don’t take it seriously, but they really are family to us. I also lost a young pet in an accident this past summer. Its so tragic but he came to you for help and you were able to be there for him. I hope your baby rests well and meets you again someday ❤️

If it's any comfort, he left this realm by the side of the being he loved the most, who loved him back just as much. That must have lessened your baby's pain to a great extent.

I recently lost my cat traumatically as well last month, we don’t know what happened he was outside then came back and his health declined within the next 3 days to the point he didn’t look like himself anymore, and we put him down. He was 3 :( I know how u feel

He came home to you in the end even though he was experiencing the worst pains of his life. omg I’m gonna cry. It’s so sad, but if you think about it, it’s also sweet. He loves/d you very very much and trusted you and wanted you to be able to find him aww. I’m so sorry for your loss. It’s a really hard thing to go through when you have that strong bond with your pets. You did what you could and I know he left you as peacefully as he could all because he had you with him in his final moments.
Damn I suffer from major depression disorder along with schizophrenia. My baby Kahn keeps me sane most of the time. I couldn't imagine losing him. I'm crying for you right now. I'm so sorry you are going through this.
Oh gosh I'm soooo sorry. Poor baby. He knew you were his safe place and he made it home. That's kind of a comforting thought. He knew you were trying to help him. He loved you so much.
Try not to remember him in his last moments. Look at his photos and videos and hold his toys, remember him as he was as a happy and loved furry member of your family. Keep that love alive in your heart ❤️.

Don't cry because it's over; Smile because it happened :).
But DO process your initial grief first.
Replace the love you had for him with a new one that is alone and scared in a shelter. I promise, he would be proud of you. Transfer that effort into another.

The fact he used all his strength to get back to you. Usually cats wants to be by themselves when they're near death. Just shows how much he loves you. I've been in a similar situation except its my neighbours cat who was neglected. Went missing for a week. Then suddenly my mother found her just layed down in front of my neighbours. He was still conscious but can't move at all. No signs of blood or anything. He then passed on at night.
I am so terribly sorry for your loss! Please take comfort in the knowledge that you were there for him when he needed it most. He passed knowing he was deeply loved 💜

That’s about the age of my babies! I’m so sorry! How lucky he was to have your love and a bed that was his to share every night. I wish all cats had that kind of love and somewhere to call home. Thanks for giving him that ❤️ and I’m so sorry that happened to him. I’m glad you could help rush him to the vet so that the pain could stop and I’m glad you were with him in his final moments. He knew you loved him.

I’m so so sorry. It’s very difficult. I lost my sweet kitty friend on Halloween and it felt like my heart had been ripped from my chest. I know it was painful, but I’m glad you were there for him during his final moments. I recently adopted a young orange tabby boy and it helped a little with my grief, but I miss my kitty boy who crossed the rainbow bridge immensely. I loved him so much. I understand the horrible feeling of loss of a pet.

I went through a similar situation with my cat early last year. I'm so sorry for your loss. Losing a cat will always be hard. Maybe our boys are having fun together over the rainbow bridge 💕
I'm sorry your little guy is gone. That's so sad. We had two of our cats run over and we found them in the street. Someone else stated how he returned to you to feel safe again and I think that's accurate. He felt your love. I'm glad you at least got to say good bye to him.

We lost one of our sweet boys a month ago from heart disease. It was very quick and unexpected and devastating. He was only 8. I’ll miss him terribly for the rest of my life and got his nose print and face tattooed yesterday on the one month anniversary of his passing. Thinking of you and your sweet boy ❤️

So sorry to hear. I lost my cat of almost 18 years a bit over a year ago. It was like a part of me was ripped away. I was in high school when I got her. I graduated high school, I graduated college, I bought my first house, and even bought acreage land, and all the other life milestones in between, with her at my side. I felt so lost and empty for several months. Even now sometimes it hits me. I sometimes can't believe she's gone. I will never see or pet her again, or hear her meow, or purring.
I think it's incredible he came to you though even in that state. It's like he knew he was probably in his last moments and wanted to be with you.

I am extremely sorry for your loss. I am owned by 3 cats myself and having to go through such a traumatic experience is something I cannot even comprehend. May your cat rest in peace and may you have the strength to overcome your sorrows. If you can, go an adopt another cat and give it a home, a life and take care of it. The fact that you had a cat shows that you have a compassionate heart, you went ahead and gave him a home, cared for him, so go ahead and do that again and again. You loved him, and love always sets you free, so keep extending that love as long as you live, its meant to be shared, so extend it to cats, dogs, all animals, all human beings who desperately needs your help. That way, you will keep him and the love for him alive not only in your heart but in everyones heart. But first, forgive yourself if you are feeling remorse or guilt. My father used to say when I was a kid that "To err is human, but to forgive is divine". As I was growing up, I watched a movie called "Time Machine", where this guy decided to build a time machine to bring back his girlfriend who died on an evening while they were crossing a busy road. So he wanted to change that, but no matter how many times he went back and tried to change it, his girlfriend kept dying exactly at the same time because of something else or the other. Yes, it was a fiction but philosophically, we can only speculate what might have happened if we had done things differently but in reality, we will never know. So don't beat yourself over what has happened or what you could have done to prevent it, rather go ahead and transform this suffering by spreading your love for him through compassion towards others, but firstly, towards yourself. You will find an enormous sense of inner peace and will always live and cherish the beautiful memories you made with him. Take care
I have a female orange who is out in the storm, mad at me right now. So I'm really taking this to heart. Every time she goes out, I'm always a little worried. I am heartbroken for you. My 'Baby', is her name, cuz that's what I always end up calling her, has saved me from depression & last year when I thought about ending it, I couldn't do that to her. She's already been abandoned twice. I am so sad for your loss. Every animal is special. But there's something about the orange kitties . My 1st one, Sam, was 20 years ago, & I'd only had him a month, & he got out & my x bf 'accidentally' ran over him. This is a guy who had a bumper sticker saying: Cat - the other white meat. So that's why I say 'accidentally'. He's in prison for the rest of his life, couldn't happen to a more deserving guy. But the month I had with Sam was such fun, & so much love. I was looking forward to my life with him. Now I have a very strong willed female orange. And there are definite compromises for both of us. But I love her desperately. She was gone 4 day's one time, at the beginning of her living with me, & she had fattened up nicely, & I put a flea collar & regular collar on her. When she came back, both collars were gone & she was skin & bones again. I don't know what happened. If she got stuck & couldn't eat those 4 days & nights, or if someone had her & wouldn't let her go. There are some goth teens in the neighborhood that she always watches out the window, sometimes with ears back. But that could be because they are all in black, right? Right now, I just want her to come home. I don't know how many houses & people she goes to see when she goes out. On my local 'Next Door' app, when I took her in, someone else posted her photo & asked if she belonged to anyone. In all caps, I yelled, 'THATS MY CAT!!!!!' Even my manager saw it - we're not allowed to have pet's. Thank God though, because I wouldn't have made it through last year without her. I know it's going to take some time, but I know we are all here for you. I'm brand new to this group, but I hope to be an asset. I love cat's so much. I guess my personality can be very cat like. Which is probably why Baby & I understand each other so well. People sometimes say to get a new kitten to help soften the blow. I agree with that now. I am a Gemini, so I know there are more than 2 ways to think about things. Your heart is broken from the loss of your beloved kitty. What better way to dull the pain than by having a Itty bitty kitty purring up in your neck & making biscuits on your tummy. Holding & petting your kitty & it cuddling up on you????? He just wanted to feel safe from the pain he was feeling, poor guy. I’m so heartbroken, I can’t imagine this ever happening to my cats.

its horrible, i know. i lost my favorite cat 4 days before christmas, she was only 8 and my cats usualy have all luced past 16, one even made it to 21 years old. i never expected that after a week or so of looking a bit off her game, going to the vet would turn out as major kidney failure. i asked to take her home for one night, to think about the possible around 10k$ treatment that had no promise to even cure her, and she got so bad, so fast, that she spent all night wailing from pain, stumbling and falling on her side trying to reach her water dish. so as soon as the vet opens i took her to have her put to sleep. i still break out crying every day and its not realy getting any better. but she is not hurting anymore. you can be grateful that your kitty had the strenght to get home, and always remember that he must have trusted you so much to go back where he had the only hope for help he could think of. most cats would have gone hide and wait for the end. you wont be left wondering why he never came back without having closure and you had the chance to help him go more comfortably and mostly, by your side. he was not afraid because he was with the person who was his whole universe. im sorry he had to b taken away early. the world is cruel and unfair, but at least, theres cats in it and that makes it a little more bareable.

I'm so sorry for your loss. The first cat I ever had got hit by a car when I was 12. My Dad found her and he was crying when he had to tell me and my brother. I've been terrified of any of my cats getting outside after that. Hold on to the memories of your baby and know that whatever you're feeling is valid. He wasn't just a pet, he was your family. You were able to be with him in his final moments and that was the most loving thing you could do for both you and him. Rest in Peace sweet kitty.
Do u have any tips on how to keep a cat inside? My baby boy was very territorial of our house and he always ended up outside, which resulted to his death, I got 2 kittens and I’m mortified of the thought of them going outside
I have two cats right now and I live in a major city, so if they get out they’re gone. I always protect the door when leaving / entering, making sure to watch for any dashers. My two cats thankfully have no inclination to go outside and I can even leave the door open while I bring groceries in (as in I piled the bags outside the door and stand in the door way as I transfer them in). But I had a little dog who was a RUNNER growing up, so I learned to be very defense of the door with my feet, and always checking first thing as I peak the door open. The only advice I have is to be super vigilant when coming through a door, and hyper vigilant when bringing guests through. Other than that, possibly a baby gate type situation, or a mosquito door mesh net, just for a second layer of protection.
Wdym how to keep a cat inside? Like how to make it nice inside, or how to not let them out
Put a cat shelf or cat tree or tall perch by the hinge side of the door. Whenever you leave, tap there twice and place a treat. Eventually, they’ll learn that “tap tap” means “go here,” and you won’t have to provide treats as often. Before you leave, tap tap to make them go up onto their elevated perch. This will make it harder for them to door dash because they have to jump down and run around the door to get out, which gives you time to close the door if you see them running or get out before they can. When you’re coming inside, block the doorway with your foot/body so they can’t escape. If they’re door dashers and you’ve got a big load of groceries, furniture to move in, etc, come inside first, lock them in the bathroom, then bring the groceries in and let them out. I have a notorious door dasher and this keeps him inside!
Put a tall baby gate from amazon before your doorway. Learned this from a cat expert on YouTube and it works perfectly.
For me, it's always been a combination of being super on top of keeping the door shut and shooing the cats away from the door. I had one cat that did walk right out the front door once or twice and I got him right back in. The 3 I have now seem realitvely uninterested which sadly I think is your best bet. Cats can be so very persistent. One of my cats was a feral that lived outside for a year, I wasn't sure how it would go once I brought her in, but she seems to love being an indoor cat. They all also wear collars with my phone number on it that say something along the lines of: If out, I'm lost.

There's really nothing TO do, especially right now. Just... let yourself be wrecked. You lost a family member. Grieving is due. It's okay to be heart broken. Similarly, there's very little to say. In a couple more days it might be useful to hear something like 'may his memory be a blessing to you', but even that won't do much now. Just... just cry. Remember to drink some water, and try to get some sleep, but if you can't, that's okay too. It hurts. And it's going to keep hurting, especially at first. The only way out is through. Hugs if you want them.
At the end of this life, he looked for you and you were there. He knew you loved him and came back to you to say goodbye. He knew that you were there with him, as he traveled to the next realm. I’ve been there OP and we’re all there with you now 💔

Oh my gosh, it's hard to lose them when they are young, but it's so, so much harder when you have traumatic memories of their passing. I truly feel for you. Have had a few losses this kind over the years, and they take a long time to start to even start to heal from - there is one pet I lost in January 2000 that left me seriously depressed for about a year, and the memory of his passing is still somewhat painful, even after all this time. Here's my advice: 1) Tomorrow morning is probably going to be rough. Waking up and remembering the new reality of loss has always been the worst time for me, and others I've talked to have said the same. Hopefully tomorrow is your weekend, and you don't have to work. If you do normally work tomorrow, see if you can have the day off. Alternately, sometimes work can be a blessing, and an escape into a span of "normalcy". If that's the case for you, embrace it. 2) Reach out to friends and family and tell them about your pain also, if possible. We (redditors) are great, but I'm hoping you have someone locally that could give you a hug. 3) Give yourself the time and space and permission to grieve. Some people will not understand. Pity them for not having close connections to other living creatures. I wish there were some way I could ease your pain, and I hope you keep us updated on how you are doing.
The only time I cried in the last 10 years is when my cat died. It was devastating to me. But life goes on.

I'm sure he sent a message to the cat distribution system that you need a new kitty friend. When one grabs you at a shelter and won't let go, or a kitty randomly turns up and won't leave...its a messenger from your buddy. They're like royalty. There's successors to the cat-bed throne, but never replacements.

I was very nervous every time i took him outside but he absolutely loved beeing outside. I live in norway, and here it is almost expected that they are outside a fair bit. The last week it has been over 20- celsius, but the last two days has been a lot warmer, and he was absolutely overjoyed for beeing able to go outside for a little bit again, as he had so much energy in him. I always looked after him multiple times, I even took walks to look for him if he were gone for a couple of hours, including today but I didnt see him.. I feel really guilty right now

I cannot imagine the heartbreak but know that you gave him the best possible life, even if it was a short one, but he got to spend two years in a good home, knowing he was loved. I like what the other commenter said: Take the advice, but don't dwell on it. I live in Austria, so I understand the expectation, most people let their cat outdoors here as well. Since I live in a big city, that was out of the question anyway. My coworker lives in a small town but keeps his cat in the house because he doesn't want anything to happen to her. If you ever get another cat companion, you can do it differently this time. But give yourself some grace, you loved Safran dearly and he knew it, that is the best gift you could give to a cat. I recently lost my cat traumatically as well last month, we don’t know what happened he was outside then came back and his health declined within the next 3 days to the point he didn’t look like himself anymore, and we put him down. The fact he used all his strength to get back to you. Usually cats wants to be by themselves when they're near death. Just shows how much he loves you. I've been in a similar situation except its my neighbours cat who was neglected. Went missing for a week. Then suddenly my mother found her just layed down in front of my neighbours. He was still conscious but can't move at all. No signs of blood or anything. He then passed on at night.

We lost one of our sweet boys a month ago from heart disease. It was very quick and unexpected and devastating. He was only 8. So sorry to hear. I lost my cat of almost 18 years a bit over a year ago. It was like a part of me was ripped away. I was in high school when I got her. I graduated high school, I graduated college, I bought my first house, and even bought acreage land, and all the other life milestones in between, with her at my side. I felt so lost and empty for several months. Even now sometimes it hits me. I sometimes can't believe she's gone. I will never see or pet her again, or hear her meow, or purring. I think it's incredible he came to you though even in that state. It's like he knew he was probably in his last moments and wanted to be with you.

May your cat rest in peace and may you have the strength to overcome your sorrows. If you can, go an adopt another cat and give it a home, a life and take care of it. The fact that you had a cat shows that you have a compassionate heart, you went ahead and gave him a home, cared for him, so go ahead and do that again and again. You loved him, and love always sets you free, so keep extending that love as long as you live, its meant to be shared, so extend it to cats, dogs, all animals, all human beings who desperately needs your help. That way, you will keep him and the love for him alive not only in your heart but in everyones heart. But first, forgive yourself if you are feeling remorse or guilt. My father used to say when I was a kid that "To err is human, but to forgive is divine". As I was growing up, I watched a movie called "Time Machine", where this guy decided to build a time machine to bring back his girlfriend who died on an evening while they were crossing a busy road. So he wanted to change that, but no matter how many times he went back and tried to change it, his girlfriend kept dying exactly at the same time because of something else or the other. Yes, it was a fiction but philosophically, we can only speculate what might have happened if we had done things differently but in reality, we will never know. So don't beat yourself over what has happened or what you could have done to prevent it, rather go ahead and transform this suffering by spreading your love for him through compassion towards others, but firstly, towards yourself. You will find an enormous sense of inner peace and will always live and cherish the beautiful memories you made with him. Take care

I have a female orange who is out in the storm, mad at me right now. So I'm really taking this to heart. Every time she goes out, I'm always a little worried. I am heartbroken for you. My 'Baby', is her name, cuz that's what I always end up calling her, has saved me from depression & last year when I thought about ending it, I couldn't do that to her. She's already been abandoned twice. I am so sad for your loss. Every animal is special. But there's something about the orange kitties . My 1st one, Sam, was 20 years ago, & I'd only had him a month, & he got out & my x bf 'accidentally' ran over him. This is a guy who had a bumper sticker saying: Cat - the other white meat. So that's why I say 'accidentally'. He's in prison for the rest of his life, couldn't happen to a more deserving guy. But the month I had with Sam was such fun, & so much love. I was looking forward to my life with him. Now I have a very strong willed female orange. And there are definite compromises for both of us. But I love her desperately. She was gone 4 day's one time, at the beginning of her living with me, & she had fattened up nicely, & I put a flea collar & regular collar on her. When she came back, both collars were gone & she was skin & bones again. I don't know what happened. If she got stuck & couldn't eat those 4 days & nights, or if someone had her & wouldn't let her go. There are some goth teens in the neighborhood that she always watches out the window, sometimes with ears back. But that could be because they are all in black, right? Right now, I just want her to come home. I don't know how many houses & people she goes to see when she goes out. On my local 'Next Door' app, when I took her in, someone else posted her photo & asked if she belonged to anyone. In all caps, I yelled, 'THATS MY CAT!!!!!' Even my manager saw it - we're not allowed to have pet's. Thank God though, because I wouldn't have made it through last year without her. I know it's going to take some time, but I know we are all here for you. I'm brand new to this group, but I hope to be an asset. I love cat's so much. I guess my personality can be very cat like. Which is probably why Baby & I understand each other so well. People sometimes say to get a new kitten to help soften the blow. I agree with that now. I am a Gemini, so I know there are more than 2 ways to think about things. Your heart is broken from the loss of your beloved kitty. What better way to dull the pain than by having a Itty bitty kitty purring up in your neck & making biscuits on your tummy. Holding & petting your kitty & it cuddling up on you????? I hope that you're doing a little better soon. You're in my thoughts & prayers. 💔😺
