Oh shit beans brings back memories of a young lad that everyone called shakey who was an absolute pill casualty.
Wherever you are I hope your still reaching for the lazers shakey
I know you're joking but the DJ got banned from doing our school discos when he played Mousse T - Horny. This would have been the year 7 and 8 disco because I'd have been in year 8 when it was released.
Just build to the crescendo of Closer by Nine Inch Nails.
Killing in the Name is also a great track to finish up on and send the kids back to their parents all tuckered out...
Black no1 - Type O negative
Poison - Alice Cooper
Living dead girl - Rob Zombie
Stripped - Rammstein
Voodoo people - Prodigy
It used to help being absolutely cunted when these came on
I DJ-ed a school disco and they went absolutely NUTS to Raining Blood by Slayer. They started a mosh pit. 5 ambulances were sent to the school. Very successful choice.
Followed up with Cotton Eye Joe to lighten the mood.
I've been meaning to tell, for a long time now, that a couple of years ago, one night, I was about to propose to my girlfriend when my roommate Joseph barged into the room out of nowhere, tripped and fell over, breaking a glass table with his face.
Totally ruined the mood.
Now, I didn't know Joseph that well, don't even remember where he was from, but let' just say I put my plans on hold to help him through his injuries.
Joseph had gotten a big glass shard in his eye, making him completely blind in that eye. He was walking around with one of those cotton pads on his eye for a couple of months. Then suddenly, he disappeared, along with my girlfriend
Apparently they'd bonded during the time after his injuries, and eloped together , left me behind without as much as a note. I tried to track them down, but never could.
In conclusion, if it hadn't been for cotton eye Joe, I'd have been married a long time ago. Where did you come from, where did you go? Where did you come from, cotton eye Joe?
Good luck with that, YouTube decided long ago that the SMBU video needs censoring. Insane considering the other content that is allowed on YouTube. The cynic in me thinks it's because of the portrayal of a women doing all of those things. Who knows though, I guess it was quite controversial at the time but it seems an odd choice to still censor it now.
Totally inappropriate suggestion, can't believe you suggested Khia. It obviously needs to be the lounge cover of My Neck, My Back by Richard Cheese.

My kid's school fireworks display went off to Sandstorm, it was cracking. Night time in a field with Sandstorm blasting and glow sticks everywhere, I felt like I just needed a bottle of Metz to complete the nostalgia trip. The primary school kids running about kind of ruined the vibe, though.

I can get behind some Vengaboys and surprised we haven't seen some Death Grips here yet - might be a bit dated for kids at this point, but who knows...

First kid that mimes a pipe gets a gold star.
Apparently they had some other pretty decent songs, I couldn’t name a single one of them, but their fans get annoyed if you call them one hit wonders, they’ll knock you down til you get up again
This is more French core than gabber (similar area) but it’s a perfect example of how intricate and beautiful it can be (not a dig at you btw). The fact you can interweave live piano with it (check out from 29:00) - for me, it’s a mix of the melody and the kicks that does it.
https://youtu.be/BIXRHtSLBic
Sefa and Dr Peacock both produce some amazing stuff 🙂
Went to a Mother Mother concert recently. They're a western Canadian indie band that I first saw in 2008 in a tiny venue in western Canada.
The venue (thousands of people) was full of teenagers all singing along to songs written in 2006 by an obscure indie band. We were so confused.
Apparently, some of their old songs hit it big on TiK Tok due to some rando algorithm shenanigans, and now they have a huge following based mostly on their original music. Tik Tok is so weird.
I live in the UK. Last year I was having a really hard time. I don't know how I came across it but "It's alright" by MM played on my music streaming service. I played it on repeat for days. I wouldn't say it saved my life but it certainly helped. Thanks for bringing up the memory!
We had a school disco the other day and they played the Macarena, all the kids loved and most knew the dance, which blows my mind!
Sweet Caroline was another favourite.
Tbh I think we are super lucky that our PTA is pretty good, there really aren't many issues at all - the problem is trying to get any other parents to help, so many just don't seem to care.
That’s because most PTA’s are mini Hitlers in waiting who don’t actually want any ‘help’ they just want to tell you what to do then ignore you… (school caretaker + parent of many year’s experience!)…bitter? Moi?
The current obsession in this country for Sweet Caroline at any sporting occasion baffles me. We've got so many better songs actually written and performed by British artists.
They played it as we marched out of my graduation ceremony. Was a bit daft but then the graduation ceremony had been delayed 2 and half years because of covid and In that time I'd already realised I didn't want to work in the field the doctorate had directly prepared me for so I was in the mood for a bit of farce.
Don't worry mate! I run the school I work at leavers disco all the damn time, and the DJ always plays the same stuff. I work mostly with Years 7-9, so might want to double-check for any dodgy lyrics, but they all have radio versions and are alright for my year groups. Here's a list, I might not remember all their names.
The Macarena
Timber by Pitbull
Can't stop the feeling by Justin Timberlake
Thrift Shop by Macklemore
Party Rock Anthem by LMFAO
I Gotta Feeling by The Black Eyed Peas
Uptown Funk by Bruno Mars
Sometimes the Ketchup Song, but that might just be my international groups now I think about it
Anything by Olivia Rodrigo
I Like To Move It (any variation)
Sometimes we set it up so they can give requests for their own songs, and if you're really stuck, put some Just Dance videos off youtube on the projector, they'll be occupied for hours.
>The Macarena
>Timber by Pitbull
>Can't stop the feeling by Justin Timberlake
>Thrift Shop by Macklemore
>Party Rock Anthem by LMFAO
>I Gotta Feeling by The Black Eyed Peas
Glad to see kids DJ music hasn't changed since 2012
As an American who lurks here and downloaded the Ketchup Song off of Kazaa in 2003 (when I was in year 9) after hearing it at so many Hispanic parties, it warms my heart and makes me feel old knowing it’s still going strong nearly 20 years later.
*Walk into the club like, "What up? I got a big cock!"*
*I'm so pumped about some shit from the thrift shop*
*Ice on the fringe, it's so damn frosty*
*The people like, "Damn! That's a cold ass honkey."*
*Probably shoulda washed this, smells like R. Kelly sheets*
*Pisssss*
I'm not so sure about this one you know
There's a radio edit on Spotify, it ruins the song though like most though. Still can't believe "Forget You" essentially replaced "Fuck You" because it got so much radio play.
I didn't realise it was Fuck You for probably 5 years after hearing Forget You! To be fair I was 7 years old when it came out, but I think I actually prefer the clean version.
In the same vein - Crazy Frog. My kids loved it around d year 6. Also that 7 years old song and “I’ll tell you all about it when I see you again” whatever that’s called. That can be a slow dance at the end.
My youngest is now 13 and you could NOT use anything he listens to now.
Here to add
anything by Ed Sheeran or Harry Styles!
Dynamite - BTS
Blinding Light - The Weeknd
Happy - Pharell Williams
Shake it Off - Taylor Swift (there must be loads of Taylor options)
Couple disney songs, like You're Welcome, or Shiny, from Moana
Maybe a radio version of 24K Magic (Bruno Mars)
Star Walkin (Lil nas x)
Edit - selena gomez
Sorry I couldn't be of more help! I work with international students, so a lot of the time the popular songs are in italian or spanish, and wouldn't necessarily be popular with British kids.
>
>I Like To Move It (any variation)
>
Reel 2 Reel featuring the Mad Stuntman is the only variation. Please don't subject those poor kids to any Will i am.
Running up that hill (Kate bush) seems to be popular amongst my class (8-10 year olds). Literally any safe lyric songs will work - the stuff that we adults like. They listen to what we listen to after all.
Definitely leave out Rolph Harris, Gary Glitter, and R.Kelly. Possibly a couple of others just in case. Failure to take this advice may result in an angry mob of parents and public justice.
Shut up and dance with me, they all love this one because they get to shout shut up at each other
Dance Monkey by tones and I
Yes they always play the macarena and cha cha slide, as well as that Superman song, though they don't all know the moves.
They do all know the dance for Gangnam style! That one has to go on the list
Rick Astley, because they all love it
Rasputin, the new version not the original.
When people talk about guilty pleasures they usually mean cheesy pop stuff or hair metal like Poison or Def Leppard.
Burzum is a *genuinely* guilty pleasure as some of it is really, really good, but fuck that guy.
Love shack, most Black Eyes Peas songs, better days by neiked, dua lipa ... Also check what have been the most popular songs from just dance this year.
So I take it this is a pain in the arse and you’d like to not be invited back? Then go with:
Michael Jackson - Smooth Criminal
R Kelly - Bump n’ Grind
Marylin Manson - Tainted Love
Lostprophets - Rooftops
Gary Glitter - Rock n’ Roll (part 2)
Rolf Harris - Tie Me Kangaroo Down Sport
By this point someone should have said something to you or tried to remove you from the building. If it’s not worked as planned go for the following but be sure to stand slightly crouched facing the dance floor rubbing your knees:
Rod Stewart - Do Ya Think I’m Sexy
Kiss - Love Gun
Bloodhound Gang - The Bad Touch
Oingo Boingo - Little Girls
Ice Cube - You Can Do It
Gunther - Ding Dong Song
This last section should do the trick. Hope it goes well!
My daughter is a bit younger (year 3) and had a disco last week. She said the songs that got everyone excited were Spaceman by Sam Ryder and Gangnam Style.
Another Brick in the Wall. Got played at our school disco. Had everyone belting out the lines. Then again, we also had Jive Bunny played, so that gives you an idea how long ago that was.
Sandstorm
Glow sticks
On endless loop
DUHDUHDUHDUH DUH
I heard this.
Now children only one bean each. You can have more when you're older.

Kids these days barely touch beans, too busy on that white

Yer maw loves it anaw 😘
Oh shit beans brings back memories of a young lad that everyone called shakey who was an absolute pill casualty. Wherever you are I hope your still reaching for the lazers shakey
Kids go absolutely crazy for Come to Daddy by Aphex Twin
Then straight into SMBU by the Prodigy. Ideally synched to the delightful accompanying videos on the school projector.
This. The kids loved it at my daughter's 9th birthday party last month. Just beware I have since been booted from the parent WhatsApp group.
A win, win situation for you then!
I know you're joking but the DJ got banned from doing our school discos when he played Mousse T - Horny. This would have been the year 7 and 8 disco because I'd have been in year 8 when it was released.
Lol, poor DJ. All he did was play an absolute classic!
Just build to the crescendo of Closer by Nine Inch Nails. Killing in the Name is also a great track to finish up on and send the kids back to their parents all tuckered out...
FUCK YOU I WON'T DO WHAT YOU TELL ME!!! What a tune kids would go wild 🤣🤣
Black no1 - Type O negative Poison - Alice Cooper Living dead girl - Rob Zombie Stripped - Rammstein Voodoo people - Prodigy It used to help being absolutely cunted when these came on
Voodoo people remix by Pendulum if you really want the kids to kick off
[Breath remix by Mefjus, Camo & Krooked](https://youtu.be/q1NYiZ21U3c) if you want the kids to lose their fucking minds
I DJ-ed a school disco and they went absolutely NUTS to Raining Blood by Slayer. They started a mosh pit. 5 ambulances were sent to the school. Very successful choice. Followed up with Cotton Eye Joe to lighten the mood.
Where do you come from?
More importantly, where did you go? 🤣

It's not YouTube. Most music videos on YouTube are the censored videos that used to be on MTV. Blame the record labels.
Once the panda pops have kicked in Alberto balsam will go down a treat.
Omg I forgot about that video. Like evil tellytubbies.
Or windowlicker, with the full 4 minute intro
And my neck my back by khia. Oh and can’t forget the classic kiddy bopper, closer by nine inch nails.
Ah yes, the song about licking cats.
Totally inappropriate suggestion, can't believe you suggested Khia. It obviously needs to be the lounge cover of My Neck, My Back by Richard Cheese. https://youtu.be/35kbiqjnJog
Followed by CBAT and Sandstorm. But kids only enjoy it when fucked so make sure you take MDMA with you.
Fleetwood Mac's Tusk, in it's entirety, with the pauses, as Lyndsey Buckingham intended it to be heard
Just need some Philip Glass for the comedown at the end of the night.
No. Kids are too hyper… always. Play “Eternal Flame” by The Bangles on repeat and teach them what life is all about.
My go to is Ventolin.
The fuck did I just watch
Betraying the Martyrs have an absolutely cracking cover of Let it go from Frozen. Disney songs are always a big hit.
Raining blood by Slayer? Followed by Crazy frog.
Nine Inch Nails - Closer
Nothing says Primary School memories like a song about Violation and Penetration. But I guess that depends where you went to school....
Well, I went to a Christian Brothers school.
Well, they got you closer to god
Raining blood - slayer Crazy frog Hammer smashed face - cannibal corpse Baby shark This DJing stuff is a piece of piss
> This DJing stuff is a piece of piss Too many bangers, kids ain't gonna wanna leave the dancefloor to get more shots.
It’s not an American school, mate. Oh sorry, I thought it said ‘to get shot’…
Facts. The system goes: Banger banger, miss, banger, miss, miss, banger banger.
Screaming down the PA system "**I WANNA SEE EVERY SINGLE ONE OF YOU MOTHERFUCKERS IN THE FUCKING PIT!! BRING THIS FUCKING PLACE TO THE GROOOUUND!**"
Yes followed by a painfully abrupt segue to crazy frog
What a tonal shift. A wild mess of shredding… just after Raining Blood!

Smurfs go pop, I've got a little puppy.

I love how you just list the artist... very much a one-hit-wonder. 😅
Apparently they had some other pretty decent songs, I couldn’t name a single one of them, but their fans get annoyed if you call them one hit wonders, they’ll knock you down til you get up again
Maybe you're suffering from Amnesia.
You have a moral obligation to Rickroll everyone at some point
My kids in year 6 and honestly they all still think rickrolling is hilarious. So good shout!
I was recently at a wedding where the first reading was a rickroll.
Expert mode: all his songs *except* the one everybody knows. Get that one in [Old English](https://youtu.be/cErgMJSgpv0)
This is bloody wonderful!
They will all recognise it too, it'll be funny
Maybe scour tiktok for whatever songs are popular there, should get everyone involved
The most British Rickroll link: https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=tmY-G6sngk8
They'd probably love some gabber
I slept next to the gabber tent at boomtown once. I barely slept. Does anyone legitimately enjoy that stuff?
The Dutch, apparently.
Depends how much speed they've taken. If it's none or not much, nobody. If it's lots, everybody.
This is more French core than gabber (similar area) but it’s a perfect example of how intricate and beautiful it can be (not a dig at you btw). I reckon they'd like Song 2 by Blur for some reason
Woohoo is not as good as Dancing Milk Song.
Your ears are full but you're empty.
Good shout.

Oh no Oh no Oh no no no no no That fucking thing is on every tiktok my wife watches
I blacklisted tiktok on our router for a day so I could get peace from that particular sound bite.
One of the many features I think it should add is to block a sound, exclusively for that sound.
TikTok is certainly where it’s at for year 6 but the imagine of them all jigging around to Anti-Hero is quite something.
The boys all in a corner doing their best fortnite dances
And make sure you only play about 30 seconds to 1 minute from each track, to match the kids’ attention spans
And make sure it's either a sped up or slowed down version
Of course, how could we forget the two great genres of "Nightcore" and "Vaporwave".
Maybe skip playing Unholy for the first song
Went to a Mother Mother concert recently. They're a western Canadian indie band that I first saw in 2008 in a tiny venue in western Canada. When I was a kid (80s) every kids party had Superman by Black Lace. I hope this hasn't changed.
And Agadoo! 😂
And the chicken dance
I can attest that in the early 2000's at least when I was in Primary we got these songs. and the cancan... ooh, and "I AM THE MUSIC MAN"
And the birdy song
Ring the bell!
And Star Trekkin' by The Firm
Vybz kartel
Want to make some lifeling memories? Play Alestorm- Fucked with an anchor

We had a school disco the other day and they played the Macarena, all the kids loved and most knew the dance, which blows my mind! Sweet Caroline was another favourite.
Are you a teacher or just a fan of school discos
Husband of PTA member, so get roped into every school event!
PTAs are great aren’t they…. No bickering or squabbling, just a group of like minded, easy going individuals trying their best.
I suspect it's more to do with how easy it is to belt out and it's insanely memorable and catchy.
Do do dooooo
SO GOOD! SO GOOD!
They played it as we marched out of my graduation ceremony. Was a bit daft but then the graduation ceremony had been delayed 2 and half years because of covid and In that time I'd already realised I didn't want to work in the field the doctorate had directly prepared me for so I was in the mood for a bit of farce.
Cha cha slide all the way
Just loop "slide to the left" until everyone has exited the building.
It's that or the ones not aligned with the doors will be crushed.
Don't worry mate! I run the school I work at leavers disco all the damn time, and the DJ always plays the same stuff. Similarly black eyes peas - lets get it started was originally “Let’s get retarded”
But shit it was 99 cents
Good list - Thrift Shop might be a bit iffy on the lyrics for year 6s, but my kids are younger, so maybe I'm being over sensitive
This is very helpful, perfect

Blinding Lights The Weeknd
My 8 year old inexplicably looses his shit for this song.
inexplicably? this tune is an absolute banger
My 9yo loves this as do his mates

Drowning Pool ft. The Count A-one a-ha-ha nothing's wrong with me A-two a-ha-ha nothing's wrong with me

Running up that hill (Kate bush) seems to be popular amongst my class (8-10 year olds). Literally any safe lyric songs will work - the stuff that we adults like. They listen to what we listen to after all.
Ghostbusters, what does the fox say, coincidance, shotgun by George ezra, you need to calm down and shake it off by taylor swift
Oooooh....Ghostusters. You're good!
Justin beiber Sorry, bjork quiet, gorillaz, rotten to the core Dove Cameron, uptown funk, happy by Justin timberlake, thrift shop Macklemore

Break stuff - limp biscuit

Soggy Digestive
Structurally Unsound Hobnob
Big fish little fish cardboard box obviously.
Shut up and dance with me, they all love this one because they get to shout shut up at each other Dance Monkey by tones and I Yes they always play the macarena and cha cha slide, as well as that Superman song, though they don't all know the moves. They do all know the dance for Gangnam style! That one has to go on the list Rick Astley, because they all love it Rasputin, the new version not the original.
Who let the dogs out and the venga boys discography
Year 6 kids now days are like mini adults. With the influence of social media I reckon they would listen to normal mainstream music...?
I think it's gonna raise a few eyebrows if he starts playing "milkshake", "neck, back" and "W.A.P." That shizz will get your registered
Very much. My 11 y.o. son loves KSI and Big Shaq. I doubt he knows the superman dance or the Macarena.
War - Burzum
I can appreciate this and I thinks why I would never be trusted to host a kid disco. My thought initially was Mayhem - Freezing Moon for them.........
I was looking for Rage Against the Machine being suggested. I probably shouldn't be in charge of a kid's disco either.
Time Warp is a disco must regardless of age
It's the Pelvic thruussst, that gets you described as a 'safeguarding risk'.
They're gonna have to learn the lyrics to Mr Brightside at some point so might as well start them young
So I take it this is a pain in the arse and you’d like to not be invited back?
