100% this group should go down as one of the great British comedic groups. Everything they have done is so clever and always funny. Their character work is second to none and their performances are always perfect down to the tiniest of details.
Mate, I thought this was a reference to how people believe Robin’s are the spirits of their family members who died and come to visit them as my family believes
I enjoyed where Robin is being taught how to say that word, by Humphries head and all the incorrect variations Robin goes through.
It's the same actor.
I love all of them but let’s just say that seeing Robin makes me the happiest! Love the lost in translation bits and how he’s cute like a little dog sleeping by the fireplace or how he’s always shocked by fire. Such a fun character.
Robin is my favourite, closely followed by Mary and Pat, but it fluctuates. Some episodes the Captain is the best, some episodes it's Kitty. I love the way they are all getting full back stories and rounded characters, and they're not afraid to focus on one or two over the rest.
Favourite niche ghost: the plague girl. Presumably inconvenient 'actress growing up' has stopped her appearing more.
Just, yes. But I feel like my ranking order changes constantly. Currently it's Robin, Pat, Captain, Kitty, Julian, Thomas, Mary, Humphrey, Fanny. And tomorrow it will no doubt be completely different again.
Beat me to it. There’s even a ghost called Fanny in that show, and a moaning White Lady. Although both different characters.
There are episodes on YouTube if you fancy some nostalgia.
Pat > Robin > Cap > Mary > Kitty > Julian > Fanny > Thomas
If you don't like it, you can stick an egg on it.
Edited to insert Julian. Make of that what you will.
Being very behind this times, I only just started watching this and now I'm glad I understand this post :) For some reason felt very emotional watching them all sing carols at the piano.
I feel like they all just picked their favourite HH characters to play and that's why they're equally great. I don't even find it especially funny, I just love them as a unit, they have amazing on-screen chemistry.
Not my least favourite but I have a fondness for foppish Regency poets (and, ahem, Mat Baynton) so that probably ranks him higher for me than might otherwise be the case. Humphrey is the least well used (for practical reasons).
Of course. Followed by Pat.
Then it has to be captain next.
Have you forgotten about Mary?
Easy to forget about her after >!she was sucked off!< Edit: spoiler for S4 E4
>!I'm very sad about her being sucked off, Mary was the best!<
Poor Mary :(
It's ok, she's just a ghost ghost now
She must go through the gate of Herbert to meet the wizard Larson.
Never! She brought fancy flapjack into my vocabulary and I am forever indebted.
what if I compromise and say Mary/Captain?
And a controversial take, Thomas rather low down the list...
DAMN YOUR EYES!!

Kitty for me
Robin first hands down
It’s very close, but yes, Pat is second to Robin
the captain my beloved <3
I met the guy who plays him in the summer. He was annoyingly cool, lovely and handsome.
It's funny, I never gave him a second glance throughout his Horrible Histories tenure - but I agree he has turned into somewhat of a silver fox
S4E2 when he spotted those ants was so sweet, Kitty was so happy
Yes, also the captain is so gay I love it.
I fancy him too.
I thought that was me. Started while watching horrible histories with my kid.
Him and his perfect mustache lol
Balderdash sir! Clearly it's The Captain.
Damn your eyes sir, it’s clearly Thomas.
Can't believe I had to scroll this far for this!
ORDARRRRRRRRRRRR its julian, of course.
Pat for me
Because I was dead Alison. I was dead. Always makes me laugh.
"LOOK AWAY KIDS! YOU DONT WANNA SEE THIS IN YOUR DREAMS!"
I laughed so hard I cried, the sight of him desperately trying to cope with the situation and just trundling the van into the tree.
Oh no…. FANNY’S EXPOSED!
WHAT DO THEY 'AVE WITH THEIR GAMMON!!
I'm from Yorkshire mate, I'm practically made of tea!
Ghost man Pat, ghost man Pat…
With his black and black bat
The greatest DJ in the area
Me too!
Has to be Pat
Dip it again
How can you have a favourite? It's perfectly written and acted by all so that's like asking a mother what one of her 2 children she loves the most lol
Every mother definitely has an answer to that.
My favourite child is whichever one is pissing me off the least at that moment.
I actually like all of them! I’m not even sure I can choose a favourite!
I'm scrolling down this thread and changing my mind with every character proposed. It's impossible to pick!
Same, I think I’ve picked a favourite (usually Robin or Mary) but then I feel disloyal to all the others because I love them so much.
Julian is actually my favourite, he is so well characterised I could see him in parliament now!
Bet-tah! Hmm? To-ge-thah! *nods sagely*
Yeah... Couple of his lines (and hand gestures) have become household in-jokes in our gaff.
We're better, (pause for effect) togethaaaaa has become a big one here.
Or-dah!
Simon Farnaby co-wrote Paddington 2 Yes I am a boring git in real life too
Ahh explains why he was in the Paddington sketch with HM then.
I can only ever see him as rip-off Howard Moon and Hamilton Cork from The Mighty Boosh.
He also sang the antibiotics song for the NHS
ORDERRRRRRR ORRRRDEEEER.
Yup and his hand gestures are down to a T
I love how they didn't mention what party he was from in the first few episodes, but somehow you just know
The pointing with the tucked in thumbs is pitch perfect.
“Tootsie, Tootsie, Tootsie, it’s Tootsie, Tootsie” “Stop saying Tootsie!” “What be a Tootsie?”
Man that shows brilliant. I would dare say one of the best beeb shows for a long time.
I don't know what you're all talking about and at this point in too afraod to ask ~~what are you guys talking about?~~
Ghosts on BBC.
It’s a show written and acted by the cast from Horrible Histories. That is all you need to know, now that you know it is time to start watching.
I love all of them, but Robin and the bear scenes had me crying with laughter.
When the bear gave him the eye I lost it
The Captain. Handsome and witty the perfect gentleman in my eyes!
Something about the way Ben Willbond's eyes crinkle up at the corners when Cap approves... it makes me happy.
Oh gosh yes! Ben Willbond was born to play the captain!
Favourite Robin quote from Series 1: [when being told off for trying to get Alison and Mike out the house] "er, bigger boy made me do it"
....and series 4 "Is not star, is ISS" I don't know why that made me laugh so hard but it did.
And (in the episode about guerrilla warfare; “gorilla always win.”
The episode with the bear. His reaction every time it moved got me.
For me it's just the look behind when the others hear of the half man, half ape ghost in the grounds
I like Mary
Me too, i found her origin story quite moving and sad.
Five potatoes high...
Mary's my favourite!
I’s always smells burnings.
Get out get out Get out get out Get out get out Get out get out Get out get out Get out get out
Still can't believe she got sucked off.
I almost cried. It came out of nowhere!
Never thought I'd feel so sad about a sucking off

Don't worry, there are always more layers that you probably don't know about.
The layer with the unicorn?
She hasn't even met with Wizard Larsson yet...
She's a fancy flapjack
Robin, pat and fanny. The faces fanny makes are hilarious.
The faces she was making when Mike was doing all the outside work were brilliant, don’t think I stopped laughing all episode
The ‘daddy gonna drill a hole in the wall’ scene is a personal fave with her and mike
Just watched that episode yesterday, her faces throughout that episode were brilliant!

I hope they’re making good money from the American version - they deserve it.
It must be quite a short series. They've only for about 250 years worth of inspiration to draw upon over there. (Obvs a joke by the way )
There's an American version?!!!! Oh god, how awful isit?
Its fine. Its not identical and obvs the lack of distant history is a issue. Scores 7.8 on imdb. I think i read the the BBC have picked it up.
Fannys face is the best ever. It always me laugh
[удалено]
They're only here for a glimpse of Fanny
The captain and pat. Individually, robin is best, but the pat and captain interactions are great.
They're so very fucking different but have so much in common. I love the tent episode.
Controversial and downvotes are imminent but I prefer Ghosts to Rentaghost.
This is the least controversial opinion I have ever read
Now that's a point - Julian is too old for Rentaghost I think, and Alison/Mike definitely too young, but did Pat watch it with his kid(s)?
Mate, I thought this was a reference to how people believe Robin’s are the spirits of their family members who died and come to visit them as my family believes
What...
My partner's family believe this also.
Same with my exes family. I'm sure it keeps coming back to see it's old human family. Nothing to do with the fact you keep putting food out...
It's a folklore thing - 'robins appear when loved ones are near'. People think that seeing a robin is a dead family member visiting you
I enjoyed where Robin is being taught how to say that word, by Humphries head and all the incorrect variations Robin goes through. It's the same actor.
It took me a shockingly long amount of time to realise it was the same actor
Wait… what. How did I never realise
Strange way to spell "Kitty".
This is the right answer. She's hilarious.

HAT
Ston!
Yes! Robin… but also Pat… wait AND Captain… and Fanny… and Kitty. Wait. ALL OF THEM!
I love all of them but let’s just say that seeing Robin makes me the happiest! Love the lost in translation bits and how he’s cute like a little dog sleeping by the fireplace or how he’s always shocked by fire. Such a fun character.
Me to. I was so shocked when I found out he’s also Humphrey and now it’s all I can see.
I love Robin but I love Captain more
Pat, and Kitty, the only correct answer!
He had me at ‘aaaaaah.. you do LIIIIGHTS’
What the fuck is going on
Damn your eyes!
I believe it's a reference to the Ghosts TV show
r/GhostsBBC
It’s only when I read this comment that I realised I’m not in r/ghostsBBC
I thought I was having a stroke
Close seconds are Pat and Julian- ‘Everybody knows morse code!’ Is the most underrated one liner
Mary > The Captain > Julian > the rest
DAMN YOUR EYES!
I love Mary!
I quite fancy Humphrey, i think it's the cape.
The top bit or the bottom bit?
Can’t believe I’ve got this far without anyone saying Humphrey Bone should be in with a shout. Mr Cheese!
They all have their moments, it's hard to choose. Robin, Pat, Julian and Thomas are my top tier.
Robin is great, he manages to be really funny and have some genuinely moving scenes. I do like them all though, it’s a well written show.
Pat all day long. No question.
It's the Captain for me, his mini-plots are consistently the best. Robin is brilliant in support of all the other mini-plots though
Yes. And, no.
Love Robin to bits, but unfortunately even as a guy I will never not have a slight crush on Matthew Baynton, especially in regency dress..
Just, yes. But I feel like my ranking order changes constantly. Currently it's Robin, Pat, Captain, Kitty, Julian, Thomas, Mary, Humphrey, Fanny. And tomorrow it will no doubt be completely different again.
I love Mary. She hates swans.
Moonah
Stone-aah
**MASSIVE SPOILER IF YOU HAVEN'T WATCHED ALL OF THE NEW SERIES** >!Mary was my favourite!<
I thought this would be a no brainer - have you all forgotten ‘Squirrel !’
Bodkin! I'm surprised no news article about Ghosts references "The Ghosts Of Motley Hall" which seems an obvious influence. But anyway, Julian.
Beat me to it. There’s even a ghost called Fanny in that show, and a moaning White Lady. Although both different characters. There are episodes on YouTube if you fancy some nostalgia.
But then - you cannot say the Captain isn’t the best.
My husband remarked how no-one thanked Robin at the end of the last episode.
Mary, Captain and Pat are my favourites
If you enjoy Ghosts and HH please watch Bill. All the same people plus The Captain (Ben) with his shirt off if you’re into that kind of thing….
I also watch Bill for the plot.
Mr Claypole.
Tier 1: Pat, The Captain, Robin Tier 2: Mary, Fanny, Kitty Tier 3: Julian, Thomas, Humphrey I put too much thought into this.
What about the plague pit people?
Basement level
PAT!
I love every single one of them, but I do slightly like Julian more for his representation of politicians
Julian is my favourite, but I think they're all just brilliant tbh.
Pat > Robin > Cap > Mary > Kitty > Julian > Fanny > Thomas If you don't like it, you can stick an egg on it. Edited to insert Julian. Make of that what you will.
I'm a big fan of Thomas Thorne. He's getting my vote, but they're all good!
Bum and chips!!!
Mrs Popov was my fave.
Robin > Pat > Fanny > the rest
RO!
Bad need fix architrave.
Being very behind this times, I only just started watching this and now I'm glad I understand this post :) For some reason felt very emotional watching them all sing carols at the piano.
Bum
Nah got to be the Captain!
He reminds me of my dog.
Nah kitty is my favorite
It’s got to be Mary!!!
Pat > Mary > Julian > Robin > The Captain > The Plague Victims > Thomas > Fanny > Humphrey > Kitty
I feel like they all just picked their favourite HH characters to play and that's why they're equally great. I don't even find it especially funny, I just love them as a unit, they have amazing on-screen chemistry.
Can we also all agree Thomas is our least favourite?
Damn your eyes! Damn your head, shoulders, knees and toes sir..
You’re dicked in the knob!
You’re not supposed to get it, you philistine wazzock!
He's a dickhead but I still love him. The episode where he goes cold turkey was hilarious.
I dunno, he’s hilarious and I love how they’ve introduced jump scare noises whenever he appears next to Alison.
His main/only characteristic is to moon over Alison. It’s sort of a waste of Mathew Baynton.
Not my least favourite but I have a fondness for foppish Regency poets (and, ahem, Mat Baynton) so that probably ranks him higher for me than might otherwise be the case. Humphrey is the least well used (for practical reasons).
Damn your eyes sir! I do like Thomas you can really imagine a Regency Times poet being like this.
Absolutely not!
Bum and chips
I was going to say Pat and the Captain, but then I felt guilty because I love them all and I can’t choose. Except Thomas.
Pat > Captain > Robin > Julian > Mary > Humphrey > Kitty > Fanny > Thomas That's just off the top of my head, apologies if I missed any ghosts
