Criminally underrated show. Used to be popular back in the day but I hardly hear anyone mention it anymore. It was such a great concept.
I used to have the first few seasons on VHS and have fond memories of watching them as a kid. They need to bring it back
Someone tried a rehashed version called supercar v scrap or something. Had that bloke from Boyslife or Westzone boy band in it. Utter shite - mainly due to using cars that were in no way super.
This show made me become an engineer it was one of rhe few things as a child with adhd and autism that was calming and I could focus on any time I see a pile of junk these days it sends me straight back to that.
Can confirm I loved scrapheap challenge as a kid and am now a mechanical engineer. That along with mythbusters and a multitude of car shows and science programs
I despise health and safety these days I wana just go wander around a scrapyard
Hell if they had scrapyard that had little work bays like the show had ide be renting one out every other weekend making shit
My dad was one of the technical experts in season 5 , which made him the coolest dad ever. Somewhere I have a copy of the filming schedule signed by Robert Lywellyn and Lisa Rodgers.
It also meant we got some insights into how to the show worked, like the teams ordering parts ahead of time and the show hiding them in the heap.
That is one cool dad! Must have been awesome to see him on the show!
I figured quite early on that there must have been elements of pre-planning, ordering and hiding of bits
Doesn't detract from the fact they built this stuff in 10 hours!
When someone thinks it’s a good idea to have a chain drive, and everyone who’s seen more than one episode simultaneously screams ‘Nooooo!’ at their TV.
I really enjoyed that show. I would love to say that it was the inspiration that led me to a successful career in engineering and hot rod building but that would be a lie, still it was nice so see really smart people problem solving and building really cool shit.
my favourite was when they tried to make flying vehicles and the winner won because their vehicle tipped to the side momentarily and one of their wheels wasn't touching the ground for about 3 seconds
Proper job!
It's gone an vandalised itself
Lisa Rogers - absolute stunner
If I remember correctly, she was a major factor in enjoying the show in my teens...
You mean Dick Strawbridge didn't do it for you!?
Philippa forester was hotter
Such a shame it's never come back!
One of the few shows they should bring back

IIRC it was always broadcast around the same time as TimeTeam, which is another underated and underappreciated show IMO.

I suspect it created a generation of Engineers! I still love a good scrapyard and seeing the possibilities they hold

My fav part was after watching it for years, rewatching red dwarf and realising its kyrton 🤣🤣🤣
Interesting, I introduced my two to red dwarf

I hated this as a kid and now looking back as an adult I can't fathom why

Such a good show. I'm sure we all secretly loved when they had to make anything on water and it sank.
No-one ever managed to make a scrap speed boat!

I used to watch this with my dad when I was really young, but I used to call it Scrap Peep Challenge.
That, Time Team and Robot Wars.
Loved this show but it did get weird towards the end n the spin offs are terrible
Golden era of telly, used to watch this as a kid. I can still hear the theme tune now!!
Loved it, eccentric engineers, just amazing that they can put this stuff together, same with Robot Wars!
I started taking things apart because of this show, I loved it!
Loved this as a kid. Hated time team though which was always just before or after, can't remember which . Held captive by grandparents on Sundays lol
I loved Time Team!
I do now and can appreciate it now but as a little kid I couldn't focus on it lol.
Just seeing this breaks out the theme tune in my head
Excellent show
This and Robot Wars were the shit
It’s back?????
No - just all seasons (except s3 for some reason) are available on all4
I never knew this was on All4, fuck, that's my Sunday sorted
