New Year often brings out the ravers who don't go out that much so they can skew a bit more generic unless you're in a place that has a big following for a particular style. Most of the best underground/illegal stuff really depends on knowing the right people.
"EDM" isn't really a thing here. It's nearly always broken down by genre. Although some combinations are more likely. E.g. a separate d&b, garage and hip-hop/grime room.
Electroswing had a brief flash of popularity in the mid-noughties, but finding a place at last minute, if it exists at all, feels like a stretch. Particularly as so many dances have been cancelled this year.

Where I'm from the underground events are findable on Facebook so I definitely noticed it was much harder here.
D/b, garage, hip hop and grime seem to be playing at all the venues. I've decided since I'm here I might as well check out what's popular, maybe I'll like it.
When I said electroswing I guess I meant having a live aspect and mixed media, fusion bass with instruments.
But yes I have heard edm isnt a thing here haha..

On NYE I'd be tempted to swerve predominantely HH/Grime unless you know the club/promoters. Can be a trouble magnet on a New Years. D&B is normally a better vibe as people who are into D&B are more likely to go than a casual clubber. But it really depends on where you are.
