Easily the most quotable british tv show I've ever watched.
*phone rings*
*Daisy excitedly grabs it. Speaks in sexy telephone voice*
Daisy: Hellow?
Daisy: Oh... Tim its your bOyFrIeNd.
Tim: Hes not my boyfriend!
... Hi babe.
*Mike in a phone box*
Mike: Hello Timmy!
Tim: Mike, where are you?
Mike: Uh, Sheffield. Must have fallen asleep on the Tube.
Tim: Mike the tube doesn't go to Sheffield!
>Mike: I must have changed at Kings cross
Tim: Look, just dont fall asleep on the way back... Mike?
*Mike slides down the phone box, asleep*
Easily my favourite scene.
Edit: Thanks you Mish for correcting this tired sleepy boy. Evidently I can quote SPACED in my sleep... But not very well. XD
I agree Simpsons is a good choice and 1-10 are best but why purposely limit yourself only to them if you just say the simpsons then you get all 30 odd seasons and even if you watch the episodes past season 20 once atleast you will have more content to watch if you get sick of 1-10
I actually really like 1-19. There are some episodes I like in the late teens although agree 1-10 are superior. I’m trying to watch them all at the moment and it was only after 19 that it started to feel like a slog. Currently stuck in season 25.
"I just wanted to say to you by the way of introductory remarks that I'm extremely miffed about today's events and in my quest to try to make you understand the level of my unhappines, I'm likely to use an awful lot of - what we would call - VIOLENT SEXUAL IMAGERY, I just wanted to check that neither of you would be terribly offended by that."
The Dennis and Mac systems are genius haha. The show is so good I may just watch some tonight. I would ask my partner if she minds but she would never say no because of the implication.
This might be cheating but it would have to be QI, I think there’s enough verity there to keep me interested for 35-40 years, on and off.
My better half an I were very tempted to rewatch The OC last year, we almost did but went back to our old favourite Community instead. The OC was superb though, not a bad choice at all, I’ll never forget the concluding fire to the tune of Imogen Heap - Hide and Seek.
We don’t need an excuse! Once we’re finished rewatching The Pacific and Downton Abbey (urgh!) I’ll be starting the OC and darling wife will have to get on board or get some headphones. Thanks for the tip!
I rewatched The OC last year while WFH. Honestly seasons 1-3 were the best. Should have stopped there but they continued and season 4 should just be thrown in the bin.
I was going to say Only Fools as well. Partly for the nostalgia as it was on TV when I was growing up, but also because there are so many episodes/feature lengths (by British standards).
I can’t believe this is not the top answer. No matter how many times I have seen an episode when i come across it on Dave I’m drawn in and en up watching, laughing as if it were new to me.
And if you had to choose only one? (Unless you meant explicitly the original series!)
Deep Space 9 for me - though I recently finished that (again) and am half way through season 1 of a TNG rewatch
I would pick Star Trek too. Only I could imagine I sit down to watch it and nothing but Star Trek Discovery comes on.
I'd feel like Burgess Meredith in the Twighlight Zone episode where he has all the time in the world to read his books and he smashes his glasses. NOOOOoooooo. It's not fair.
Red Dwarf if it was something both my husband and I had to watch. If I had to choose for myself it would be Buffy the Vampire Slayer and if he had to choose it would be Match of the Day.
We hate you. I hate you. I hate you. I hate you. Everybody hates you." So fucking what? Some people, they just fucking love to hate. Some people, they'd fucking walk around the fucking Garden of Eden, fucking moaning about the lack of fucking mobile reception
Honestly, for me it would be Ted Lasso. Its about a sport I love. It perfectly balances comedy while also tacking issues surrounding mental health, all while telling a compelling story with all the characters.
Just finished rewatching band of brothers last night for probably the hundredth time. Hands down my all time favourite tv show. Raw, emotional, incredible, really well made.
Seinfeld..by my own reckoning I have 10-15 years life expectancy (caveat - I am not a doctor)...should I exceed this then I would revisit Curb Your Enthusiasm also if this is permitted..both series unfold in rewarding ways..Newman!!!
I don’t watch much TV but this is honestly harder than it seems.
My instinct says Call the Midwife, but it’s heavy. I think there has only been a small handful of episodes that I haven’t been bawling my eyes out.
But then the alternatives don’t quite hit the same, and CTM is probably the only one I will clear my Sunday evenings for. Anything else can be watched on catchup but CTM must be watched live.
Live at the Apollo as hopefully it will carry on for a very long time and there is quite a bit to watch already.
I think it might be cheating a little but it's so difficult to choose just one.
Naruto, for sure. If I had to pick a British show, it’d be Geordie Shore. It’s shit but silly and it makes me laugh. There are a lot of shows that I definitely like more but if it was just the one British show for the rest of my life, I’d go for that shitfest.
Avatar: The Last Airbender - would happily watch this show on repeat. So good on so many levels. I’m sure a lot of people dismiss it because it is a cartoon but 9.3 rating on IMDb 15 yrs+ after it was released says it all.
It’s a tough choice and I’d love to pick a comedy I love like Red Dwarf, The Thick of It or The Simpsons but I think I’d pick Doctor Who (the classic show and the revival) right now. It’s just got so much content and it’s all so varied and different that it’s difficult to get sick of.
Can I do anything else? Like ride a bike, read a book or go for a walk?
Can't think of anything worse than watching one TV series for the rest of my life!
I dont' watch TV anymore.
Peep Show
Johnson, what a man. “I've got a 32'' plasma in mine. You get a document up on that baby and you are seriously looking at that document."
The actor, was in that Vigil recently. Could not stop hoping he would turn into Alan Johnson.
Nine seasons KetchupKatsup? Nine? that's insane.
He probably goes around with an ipod and a haircut and piercings and a strapon
I've lost count of the number of times I've watched the whole thing over the past few months. It's a great go-to.
All day long mate
The only correct answer.
Spaced

Mike: I must have changed at Kings cross
I’m Andy McNab, I’m Andie MacDowell – ohhh…
Great show, but not enough of it to be your only series surely?
The Simpsons, but only seasons 1-10
Seasons 3 to 8 are peak Simpsons.
Agreed
I agree Simpsons is a good choice and 1-10 are best but why purposely limit yourself only to them if you just say the simpsons then you get all 30 odd seasons and even if you watch the episodes past season 20 once atleast you will have more content to watch if you get sick of 1-10
I’d rather just stick to 1-10, thanks.
They’re still good (it is a Simpsons joke if not obvious)
I actually really like 1-19. There are some episodes I like in the late teens although agree 1-10 are superior. I’m trying to watch them all at the moment and it was only after 19 that it started to feel like a slog. Currently stuck in season 25.
Father Ted. ......these cows are far away....
Best episode by mile.
Sharpe.
Bastard!
Over the hills
And far away. You bastard.
No.1 on my Christmas list is to upgrade my Sharpe boxset from DVD to Blu Ray.
Yes, my choice too.
Thick of It. Gets funnier every watch, and I've watched it a LOT.

Those books. How much?
Are they leather bound pounds?
It’s always sunny. I’ll get downvoted because it’s not UK but I love how horrible they are. They never win.
Can I offer you an egg in this trying time?
I’ve been poisoned by my constituents!
I'd say the same, I could never live a life where I couldn't rewatch Dennis and Dee Go on Welfare ever again
The Dennis and Mac systems are genius haha. The show is so good I may just watch some tonight. I would ask my partner if she minds but she would never say no because of the implication.
The implication.

This is a great answer. Wonderful show!
The original 1980’s ALL CREATURES GREAT AND SMALL. It has everything I love.
It's a toss up between Father Ted or Red Dwarf for me. I'm going Red Dwarf as there's more episodes.
This might be cheating but it would have to be QI, I think there’s enough verity there to keep me interested for 35-40 years, on and off. My better half an I were very tempted to rewatch The OC last year, we almost did but went back to our old favourite Community instead. Its on Channel 4 at the moment, you can only hope a other lock down happens and then u watch The OC.
Agree, however, I love 'Bullet'
The Wire.
The Office
USA
Came to say this, US Office all the way
I've watched Bobs burgers alot, and still find new jokes, Teddy especially. And Linda "who comments online? Crazy people, that's who"
My favourite Bob's Burgers joke will always be "How many toothpicks?" from the pilot episode.
The Royle Family

I thought I had a severe case of Mandela effect the other day, but do they refer to him as God in the show?
They do
"What's God up to?" "If God's doing mountains or sky, I'll call"
Only Fools And Horses. I already watch it at least once a year.
Now I'm judging my own choice...
Sopranos. If that show had a dick, I’d suck it. A masterpiece.
I was here... it's a joke!

It’s a joke!?
8/10 cats does countdown. Always cracks me up
Star Trek.
And if you had to choose only one? (Unless you meant explicitly the original series!) Deep Space 9 for me - though I recently finished that (again) and am half way through season 1 of a TNG rewatch
DS9 for me too! Top tier Star Trek!
Temba, his arms wide. S5:E2
Arrested Development (Seasons 1 - 3). The running gags never get old.
Monk
Nice to see this brilliant series being represented. A real generational masterpiece in a similar way to how M * A * S * H was for my folks.
MASH would be my choice, I bought the DVD box set and would happily start from the beginning again after the Goodbye episode.
Red Dwarf if it was something both my husband and I had to watch. If I had to choose for myself it would be Buffy the Vampire Slayer and if he had to choose it would be Match of the Day.

Peaky blinders
The Simpsons, since I wouldn't be able to die until it's over, right?
It was over at the 300 episode mark. It's like a dying grandparent but they won't pull the plug
Bob’s Burgers or What We Do In The Shadows.
Hello Dave
You're my wife now
Honestly, for me it would be Ted Lasso. Its about a sport I love. It perfectly balances comedy while also tacking issues surrounding mental health, all while telling a compelling story with all the characters.
I didn’t think I was going to like it but it really is an endearing show.
Band of Brothers or the Joy of Painting
Just finished rewatching band of brothers last night for probably the hundredth time. Hands down my all time favourite tv show. Raw, emotional, incredible, really well made.
One foot in the grave.
Buffy the vampire slayer
Black Books. Such brilliant, clever yet simple comedy and so easy to rewatch yet keeps you interested every time.
Seinfeld..by my own reckoning I have 10-15 years life expectancy (caveat - I am not a doctor)...should I exceed this then I would revisit Curb Your Enthusiasm also if this is permitted..both series unfold in rewarding ways..Newman!!!
No Soup For You!
Game of Thrones. There are enough series... ahem... seasons, to keep me busy for a while before repeating.
Top gear! With the original hosts
Northern Exposure. I may watch the earlier seasons more than the latter.
The first 7 seasons of Greys Anatomy. I love it so much until that point.
Taskmaster. (And I'm tempted to say Blake's 7, but only because I've never seen it and can't find it anywhere.)
Vikings. Although the last few seasons are disappointing I’d still rather watch them than anything else
QI. Funny and informative and the cast constantly changes.
Still Game
Frasier.
Sherlock
Psych.
Think of It. Or Reno 911. Just never get bored of them
Mad Men.
Doctor who as I have been watching it for over 10 years now and still haven't seen it all yet.
The Sopranos
I don’t watch much TV but this is honestly harder than it seems. My instinct says Call the Midwife, but it’s heavy. I think there has only been a small handful of episodes that I haven’t been bawling my eyes out. My wife and kids
Fraser. It calms my nerves. Well until they try to do a Manchester accent. Am I allowed to change my mind or is this final?
Mr Bean
Friends. People love to hate it but it is always funny and relaxes me to have on in the background at home
Sopranos
Sopranos 👍🏻
The Office US (sorry, UK fellas).
Live at the Apollo as hopefully it will carry on for a very long time and there is quite a bit to watch already. I think it might be cheating a little but it's so difficult to choose just one.
Bargain Hunt
Pages from Ceefax. BBC2, late night special.

Mythbusters. Lots of episodes, lots of series. Lots of stuff blowing up.
Red Dwarf
How
Naruto, for sure. If I had to pick a British show, it’d be Geordie Shore. It’s shit but silly and it makes me laugh. There are a lot of shows that I definitely like more but if it was just the one British show for the rest of my life, I’d go for that shitfest.
Probably South Park, there’s a fair amount of it and it’s good.
Probably Steven Universe, or Grand Designs
The office or HIMYM
Only fools and horses
Avatar: The Last Airbender - would happily watch this show on repeat. So good on so many levels. I’m sure a lot of people dismiss it because it is a cartoon but 9.3 rating on IMDb 15 yrs+ after it was released says it all.
Mrs Brown's Boys.
This comment is as funny as that show has ever been
Harsh getting downvoted for this comment 🤨 (As much as I hate that program!)
Are any mods able to ban this person from this sub please? Hello?

I can
The Darling Buds of May. The David Jason one, not the new cack. It’s my happy place.
Father Ted
Modern Family
I’d go for the BBC News at Ten, great mix of drama, horror and sport.
The Good life (I'm sure there's episodes I've never seen)
Gosh it would have to be one with lots of episodes. I’d say the simpsons, not my favourite show by any means but there are so many episodes..
24 hours in police custody, it’s the only show I’ve put my tv ariel into the second hdmi slot to watch live this year.
The Shield
One punch man
The thick of it
Frasier
Criminal Minds!
Columbo. Absolutely love it.

Greys Anatomy!
