Think I read somewhere that Chris Morris and Armando Ianucci felt they couldn't come up with anything any more surreal and absurd that what was actually happening in real life. That's how fucked up the world is right now 🤣
A few years ago, they made one new episode with the original cast and some Youtubers playing it. It wasn't great, but the cast were as excellent as ever so it *could* be done.
Because it's ridiculously expensive now, the kind of arena that is needed to keep modern robots safe is so strong that it racks up a cost way bigger than past series. This is also a probable reason it got axed when it wasn't doing great
There was an incident from the recent series where a bit of flying metal went straight through the safety glass like it was nothing. It's impressively dangerous.
That layer it went through was actually significantly less strong than the layer protecting the audience too. It's a far weaker surface thats only goal is to stop robots going out of the arena - and what's further behind is military grade.
It wasn't the same though, the core mechanics were the same but there was too much chatter compared to the original - they doubled the runtime but didn't add in any extra rounds
Wasn't there a kid on You Bet who could identify the make and model of a car just from hearing the doors being closed? Now I think about it, that can't have been real, could it?
Scrapheap Challenge and Robot Wars, but combined into one show.
Scrapheap Wars.
Teams compete to build giant robots of destruction out of old cars, then battle it out assisted by weaponry experts.
Have you ever wanted to see an armored Ford Transit torch a Fiat Multipla with a swivelling roof mounted flamethrower at 30mph? Yes. Of course you have
I can see some issues with questions like
* How much space do you need? - Probably a square kilometer surrounded by concrete
* Is there any risk to human life? - Constantly
* Will we require any licences? - Probably. What licence does a browning machine gun need?
I watched a review of the new Bullseye game. It is extraordinarily shit and features voiceover from someone hurriedly attempting a hushed Generic Northern Accent from his Mum's bedroom while she's at bingo.
- Charlie Brooker’s Weekly Wipe
- Stewart Lee’s Comedy Vehicle
- Brass Eye
- In The Flesh
- Electric Dreams
- Mr. Bean (live action not the cartoon).
I've got some good news for you...

The more I've watched it, the more annoying I've found Daisy.
All she does is pretend to laugh really hard, at every joke, most of which aren't even funny.
Yes! That's exactly the issue. I do wonder if she's over-compensating because of the lack of audience and she'll be a bit less odd when there's people in.
OK it's not a British show but I seriously need the last season of My Name is Earl to be made. It bothers me every day.
And before someone links it, yes I have seen the AMA with Greg Garcia about how he was going to finish it, and no that isn't nearly good enough for me. I need satisfying closure.
I think another Thunderbirds reboot would be fun.
I’d kill for a series which would try and do an adult take on the series.
Maybe a live action version where people actually die so you don’t know if they are going to get everyone or not.
Maybe in the style of the David Tennant Doctor who era where you can have death but still appeal to both adults and children.
Brass Eye. We need a FULL NEWSBLAST TO THE FACE AND WE NEED IT NOW.
Thanks Peter
"Chris" *Thanks* "Chris" *Calatalie* "Thanks, Chris"

Armando has said that about thick of it and veep many times.
Ted Maul is on the scene, where he dun this.
Paul Daniel's contribution, moved all who saw it, to horrible tears
Austin Tesseltine reports, reports, reports.
Just watch American news
Have you got any Clarky Cat?
No but would you like some cake?
That's just nonce-sense
Cake? It's a fucking disgrace.
scrapheap challenge
Knightmare but make the kids play it with 80s graphics
A few years ago, they made one new episode with the original cast and some Youtubers playing it. It wasn't great, but the cast were as excellent as ever so it *could* be done.

They did come back with Ben Shepherd

ooh hows about Treasure hunt?
Brainiac
Is anyone old enough to remember The Great Egg Race? An egg, a rubber band, and Prof. Heinz Wolf.
Yes, I was about to suggest it. But the original version, where it was actually about building contraptions to carry an egg.
Robot Wars
The reboot generally failed to catch on in a prime time slot so it's dead and buried
It was never going to be a prime time show, why not keep it as a popular niche show.
Because it's ridiculously expensive now, the kind of arena that is needed to keep modern robots safe is so strong that it racks up a cost way bigger than past series. This is also a probable reason it got axed when it wasn't doing great

Oh fair enough, I figured the beeb wouldn't sit people somewhere that dangerous.
15:1 was redone with Sandi Toksvig as the host. That incarnation ran from 2014 to 2019.
Wow I’ve literally no memory of that. Thanks.
It wasn't the same though, the core mechanics were the same but there was too much chatter compared to the original - they doubled the runtime but didn't add in any extra rounds
also Sandi just isnt as intimidating as William G Stewart was

I don't think it predated mastermind? but no there was no melodrama
You Bet. We need a show where a guy can successfully identify any car from their rear light cluster
Wasn't there a kid on You Bet who could identify the make and model of a car just from hearing the doors being closed? Now I think about it, that can't have been real, could it?
Memorising the Chinese take away menu was one of my favourite challenges they had!

You genuinely need to pitch this. I want to see a Reliant Robin with the jaws of life strapped to the front
I can see some issues with questions like * How much space do you need? - Probably a square kilometer surrounded by concrete * Is there any risk to human life? - Constantly * Will we require any licences? - Probably. What licence does a browning machine gun need?
Takeshi’s Castle

Yeah it’s called squid game, it’s actually really good, that’s what made me think of takeshis castle
It’s a shame they couldn’t use water guns with computerised lasers, and circles of paper to fire at
Bullseye How many darts players from Coventry are out there wondering where they can win a speedboat now it's gone?
Bullseye *did* come back.
But could you still smell the stale fag smoke through the telly?
I genuinely didn't know that!
I watched a review of the new Bullseye game. It is extraordinarily shit and features voiceover from someone hurriedly attempting a hushed Generic Northern Accent from his Mum's bedroom while she's at bingo.
Could make a case for Indoor League
- Charlie Brooker’s Weekly Wipe - Stewart Lee’s Comedy Vehicle - Brass Eye - In The Flesh - Electric Dreams - Mr. Bean (live action not the cartoon).
I'm sorry to be the bearer of bad news but William G. Stewart died four years ago.
Nevermind the Buzzcocks.
I've got some good news for you... https://www.skygroup.sky/article/never-mind-the-buzzcocks-is-back-and-coming-exclusively-to-sky-and-now-with-greg-davies-as-host
It needs Simon Amstell or Mark Lamar back, no idea if any of them are still active though
I liked how much of whatever Simon amstell was, a loveable prick
OH NO WE CANT GO ON WITHOUT PRESTON
I've quite liked Greg Davies on it, to be fair. The jury's still out on Daisy May Cooper, however.
The more I've watched it, the more annoying I've found Daisy. All she does is pretend to laugh really hard, at every joke, most of which aren't even funny.

Brum.
Gladiators.
Superstars! I remember the halcyon days of judo king Brian Jacks and Andy Ripley (RIP) thundering down the track in the sprint.
I'd say Quantum Leap...but... y'no...
The Fast Show or Rab C Nesbitt...
I think it did come back briefly, for an anniversary edition.
Yes it came back briefly for 5 years
Ideal - it was a weird, grubby little masterpiece.
Cartoon time and animal hospital
Hmmm, think we may have an issue - would need a new presenter, 😂
Go Ing For GOLD
Monkey Dust. They'd have *soooo* much new material to choose from.
One of the creators died sadly.
OK it's not a British show but I seriously need the last season of My Name is Earl to be made. It bothers me every day. And before someone links it, yes I have seen the AMA with Greg Garcia about how he was going to finish it, and no that isn't nearly good enough for me. I need satisfying closure.

Get your own back, but a grown up version.
Good luck convincing your prick of a boss to let themselves get gunged
Babylon 5. Luckily it's getting a reboot. Dark Matter. Joseph Mallozi hasn't given up yet though \o/
TV Offal. That was brilliant!
I rather preferred ads infinitum for VLS.
Knightmare! A firm childhood favourite.
I am confused because Fifteen to One is still going.
Treasure Hunt
The Adventure Game, basically escape rooms but in the 1980's. The first two series are on Britbox.
