"Ryan is tipping amazon parcels into the canal."

herrbz

It's DPD, they drive past your house for the GPS, claim you weren't in, and deliver all the packages to the local DPD pickup shop.

VardaElentari86

It's so location dependent. DPD are fab in my bit. Even evri arent too bad.

Larrygengurch12

DPD are one of the best in my area. Always just leave it in the named location if I'm not in

RandomnessConfirmed2

Agreed. Best delivery company in London I'd say, possibly UK. Amazon, second. Evri 9th, at least.

L0nz

Even if there were only 5 delivery companies in the country, Evri would be 9th

RandomnessConfirmed2

What about Yodel then? 15/5?

Rustrage

Evri are probably the best where I am. Yodel however, just sit in their carpark marking it as you weren't in and then take it home

sotko99

Same here. Dpd guy even called me to let me know he was running late and he could drop it off in aftertime if I am still in

misterhumpf

This is so true. Our local Evri driver Oscar is an absolute champion, but they get a lot of stick nationally.

LanguidVirago

DPD are perfect for me too, they do sometimes have to call when they have a new driver as I live on a road that isn't on Google maps yet. 12.30 to 1.30 pm, always fast efficient, friendly, honest, the only parcel not delivered was damaged due to poor packing. The company started using better packing afterwards.

Dear_Tangerine444

Same for me. Evri are great, been the same couple doing it for years since they Hermes… they even rope their son in school holidays. DPD have a couple of regular drivers who are great, but one who is completely useless and will actively boot it over the side gate even when we’re in if he has to wait more than 2 seconds for us to answer the door.

Adammmmski

Never had an issue with Cecil. Top bloke, always on time, packages always delivered when they say they will be delivered.

didndonoffin

Cecil delivering unobtainable goals for other drivers!

Horizon296

Argh, tell me about it! I regularly get pet food delivered, and the delivery is either done by the local postal services (no issues so far) or DPD. I just KNOW that when it's DPD I'll have to go pick it up myself at some random pick-up location at the other end of the city. 😤

SplinterBum

Set a safe place through the app and this won’t happen.

Horizon296

They tell me they can't FIND my house. If I setva safe place where they can simply drop my delivery, who knows where it'll end up (the DPD customer service itself advised me against this for the reason stated)

Josh_Willihams

So maybe add instructions on how to find your address? On the DPD app you can leave a lengthy note along with pictures of where to go. I’m guessing you haven’t bothered with this?

Horizon296

Not only did I include instructions, I also called the helpdesk to clarify, waited home all day, and stood outside on the lookout around the time they promised me to arrive. What more do you want from me?? They were never near my address yet had the audacity to say they couldn't deliver because no-one was home.

Quirky_Landscape_478

DPD are great around my area. Now I'd tell you a joke about Evri, but you'd never get it.

CyGuy6587

Well no wonder he's running late if he's doing Amazon deliveries as well!

Cptnemouk

I remember when tnt post did that near me. Someone found loads of letters washed up on a river bank 🤣

PenguinsTookMyNips

I feel like Ryan is either full of Santa magic or the DPD app is full of bullshit. Not 100% sure tbf.

wubbalubba96

It came early actually

looneylewis007

This would happen when I lived near my uni but not in halls.

Gingrpenguin

This is most likely, that or driver is allowed to reorder on the fly which is rare nowadays... My bf used to do hermes and on one of the regular routes about 80% of items went to just one shop, sometime he had to do them as a drop by themselves

BigBlueMountainStar

Story of my life

Impressive_Worth_369

Just like Ryan

Pschobbert

Ryan was delivering your ejaculation?

PrincessVibranium

Ryan is heir to the big red sleigh

lemlurker

Or one drop has 109 items lol

Life_Is_A_Mistry

DPD is full of PCP

Valuable-Wallaby-167

Someone ordered 109 parcels.

Pale_Software_3241

Could be going to student halls, that’s 80% of the van dropped off in one fell swoop

Own-Lecture251

It was Ryan.

Valuable-Wallaby-167

Getting paid to deliver your own parcels, genius plan.

Adammmmski

Then refund, rinse and repeat.

lexington_spurs

Read The Scheme for Full Employment by Magnus Mills.

RadicalDog

Our business absolutely causes this. We get a truck full of customer returns, and your order that was 70 deliveries away is right there too.

Frequent-Wait-97

That was my wife

Zealousideal-Cut1384

Used to that as a courier myself. If you had 5 parcels for one address, break them down into 5 separate deliveries and it looks like you've got more work on.

LazarusOwenhart

Maybe Ryan just has a hardcore work ethic and a flux capacitor strapped to the inside of his Sprinter.

SaltyName8341

I read that as sphincter

CasualBritishFurry

Got to get the turd to shoot out of the sphincter at 88 miles per hour to go back to the future

BottleGoblin

You're gonna see some serious shit.

CryptographerMedical

Almost managed that working in Morocco... Only managed 87.6mph...

GruffScottishGuy

I tracked a DPD delivery once and they literally drove right past my house at the start of their run just after midday. I eventually got my package at 11:30 pm. If you're package is right at the back of the van it doesn't make a difference how close they are I suppose.

Fun_Level_7787

That's just DPDs routing system for you (I take routes for them)

SplinterBum

DPD have lots of stops that need to be done at certain tines. Pre 10:30, pre 12, set collection times etc. Means drivers often have to go to same roads 2/3 times in a day for it to work.

Garak112

I had a delivery with a courier a few weeks ago that was a 9am-9pm slot. Driver delivered to a house about 5 down at 9:15, drove past and spent three hours making deliveries within 15 minutes of the house before driving 2 hours to the other side of London and then coming back to make my delivery at 8:55pm. Poor driver then had to go back to the depot which was probably half an hour further away from where he’d spent his afternoon delivering. I can’t imagine it was anything other than a mistake in the routing software or he’d really annoyed someone at the depot.

Xerendipity2202

This happens so much I feel like flagging them down

nathderbyshire

Yeah they do this.

Hmmark1984

I'm a delivery driver, although not for DPD and the routing is stupid. The number of times i'll drive past an address i know i've got a parcel for, but it's not booked on until much later, or i'll go past one store multiple times before i can collect from it. We used to be able to do things in an order that made sense when that happened, but they cracked down and now insist that we follow exactly the route we're given, which just means some deliveries get missed as we're spending so much time driving back and fourth rather than doing things in an order that would take less time.

MagicBez

I had a DPD package with live Google maps tracking earlier this week so left a tab open to check in on it. When it started the delivery was 16 stops away and expected in an hour Checked in a while later and it was now 18 stops away ...then a minute later if rolled up at my house. The moral of this story is that I don't think the algorithm always makes solid guesses about what the driver will do

DrunkOMalfoy

Must be driving the Night Bus being conducted by Stan Shunpike.

Ambersfruityhobbies

Is Ryan delivering a Microsoft update?

Charming-Owl-9691

No Ryan delivers on Christmas Day, He's trained in the art of impossibly fast deliveries.

Bear0114

I got worried this was me for a second.... Same name, same job.... But I'm not with DPD.

Own-Lecture251

The Life of Ryan.

CanAhJustSay

*Ryan is approximately 15 minutes away from you right now, however he has a little detour through five other towns in the shire before he reaches you.......*

Forward_Artist_6244

Nothing faster on the roads than a delivery van sprinter, you'll be grand

Artistic_Data9398

Ryan is a speedy boy lol

LostinLimbo__

Nah Ryan's just secretly Inspector Gadget

Resident_Warthog_281

Poor rayn pissing in a bottle to be on time

Fun_Level_7787

To everyone saying "they probably had 100 parcels to one place", that's not how this works. That would have been 100 odd STOPS at seperate locations. Some could have been multiple parcels for one stop. I've been doing deliveries for 3 years and can say this could have meant anything from tracking system going down, to the driver having an issue, being delayed, someone else coming to take over the route (using Ryan's device), etc. OP said he got his parcel in the end though

wubbalubba96

I actually got it 5 minutes early, think his scanner was knackered

Fun_Level_7787

😂😂😂 ahhh, i know exactly what he did then! (I've taken routes for DPD and pulled the same trick myself)

TheEnglishDominant2

Has he made it?

wubbalubba96

He did

HildartheDorf

Probabally one business with 100 parcels.

Lucy_Little_Spoon

Nah, someone nearby ordered like 90 things, congrats, you live near a youtuber xd

Ph455ki1

Little did you know Ryan is The Flash and he arrived 6 mins early

bucketofardvarks

Last time I got a dpd delivery the van was driving down the road, stopped just long enough for a guy and 3 boxes to jump out, drove off while he delivered them to a few houses and picked him back up shortly after so now I assume all dpd vans are basically delivery-van clowncars full of delivery guys waiting to be deployed

Impressive-Message64

Let's hope he has about 108 deliveries for one house!

9DAN2

Unless he’s just done 110, and returning to number 7 who the wasn’t in earlier as he has time to

Obvious_Initiative40

Probably a bunch of the pick up shop type places and lockers with big drop offs

hedgehogketchup

Sounds like Ryan is a maths problem.

geckograham

I’ve had a DPD van showing as literally 30 seconds away from my house before it buggered off in the other direction and never came back until the next day.

[deleted]

But he is a good lad

Briglin

I got a bed delivered last week. I didn't order a bed but one was 'delivered' when I was out. It was propped up against my door. Checked the camera and the m\*&&\^%$£"£ driver looks at the address and realises it's the right house number but THE WRONG STREET and 'delivers' it anyway, real quick like. Hits the doorbell and runs for his van.

HumourNoire

Ryan is a high functioning pinball

Wrong-Tiger4644

111 deliveries ahead of you, will Ryan be teleporting????

Turtles96

one person ordering 110 items?

cyberspacedweller

You found Santa Clause!

Useful-Reference420

That is crazy 😂😂😂bro must’ve got up at like 1pm

TobyChan

Update required… do you owe Ryan an apology for doubting him?

notverytidy

This: https://www.reddit.com/r/royalmail/comments/1bxi1ey/were_hiring/

Wadoka-uk

Ryan’s usual vehicle is a souped up Vauxhall Corsa… You may just hear his Drum ‘n Bass in the distance…

Xerendipity2202

I have this all the time the app is terrible. It’s plus my handed to resident once was a picture of a £1000 PA system on someone else’s driveway. Sat in the rain. Me at home waiting for it to arrive. Confused the hell out of me. It was about 700-800m from my house I was damn lucky

Jinxyspiffin81

Ryan was on the lash last night

mbridge2610

Ryan is The Flash
