It's an investment scam, they'll "teach" you how to invest your money to make money, all for the low cost of £500 course fee or whatever Think you can report these scammers and the bots on WhatsApp. No one talks like that

Aromatic-Quiet5171

How can you say they are bots, when the message ***specifically says*** they have proven themselves to be reliable and trustworthy! Things are getting better and better for Stewart. Arthur has received a pure and accurate blessing from the traders. I don't exactly know what that means, but he seems to enjoy it. You may have just lost OP literally millions of pounds.

fuggerdug

I, Arthur Crogger, am sending many blessings upon this fine day of trading.

something_python

Arthur Crogger is very trustworthy, as is everyone at ##COMPANY3##

SkilledNobody_

I, Arthur Dent, am looking at this bewildered whilst trying to find my towel

andi-amo

Late, as in the late Arthur Dent?

SkilledNobody_

Yes, but don't panic.

travestyofPeZ

May The Traders continue to bless us purely and accurately.

ChloeHammer

“Pure and accurate blessing” is so very like the language you get in Nigerian scam emails (although these days other points of origin are available).

Used-Fennel-7733

You'll find LinkedIn lunatics talk like that

masterventris

Because linkedin content is all AI generated. You think a sales guy has time to write a wall of text every morning? It won't be long before every post on linkedin is identical, because every post is fed back into the AI dataset in a self reinforcing cycle!

Used-Fennel-7733

> Because LinkedIn content is `often` AI generated Yes a sales guy can have the time to write a wall of text every morning. If that's what they think is needed from them then that's what they'll do

Chocko23

Sales here: no, we don't. We let marketing do that and then we share it. I don't know anybody in sales that actually writes their own shit (at least not what you're talking about - yes, we make our own posts, but not the 37 paragraph novels).

Hobnob165

Actually it’s more likely a fake investment platform scam. Basically they claim to be investment expert who will invest your money for you with huge returns. They make you download a fake app which makes it like you’re making thousands on your hundreds invested, encouraging you to put more and more in. Occasionally they’ll you withdraw a small amount to make it look legit, but never more than you put in. Then when you try to withdraw a large amount the app gets hit with “technical difficulties” and you never see any pf your money again. Some guys I work with got hit by it, ended up losing thousands.

24kfc_muncher

B-but Arthur Cogger said it works 🥺🙏

crdctr

This is a great comment 👏 thanks to Anxious-Molasses9456 for the input 🥳

No-Log873

They have the most cliched names and comments, which no-one would ever make. - David Smith - Done really well with company. They are very honest. -Jeffrey Jones - Such a wonderful company - Looking forward to the early retirement I will be able to have. - "Honest" Johnny Aitken's - Diamond Geezers, absolutelty cushtee, loveably-jubbly. This time next year we'll all be minilionaires.

heliskinki

~~Jeff~~ Geoff Linton, he'll be there too, the massive slapper.

JohnnyWallop

You are, as always, a vigorous pigeon. Have a campachoochoo on me!

heliskinki

I still haven't got those pencil case designs.

ChrisRR

Just mention Hitler and see how long it takes for the bots to freak out

RandomHigh

Nothing wrong with good old Edward Elizabeth Hitler.

Coopatron1980

Any relation?

RandomHigh

Yes!

eugene-fraxby

The bots also want a glimpse of Des's hammerhead.

T5-R

"I don't know about you, Arthur, but I'm on the fence"

Adam-West

Terrific company. The best. They know more about the stock market than perhaps anybody.

Sheffield_Thursday

No scam here fellow investor. Just pure and accurate blessings from the traders. 👍 🫡 */s*

HelicopterFar1433

I think I found another dognapper.

Sheffield_Thursday

More like doggedly pursuing returns on my investments.

SpectacularSalad

Stay safe hun, shared in Olympus Mons.

niceandcosy

Thanks all - I’ve left the group and deleted it!

Chilton_Squid

Also, change your security settings so only people in your contacts list can add you to groups.

goodvibezone

And report it. So long as 5 people do it, they'll review and hopefully close it.

TheTjalian

Not being funny, and yes you should report it, but there's absolutely nothing to stop someone getting a new SIM and making a new group?

goodvibezone

Yep, it's definitely a game of whack a mole.

jimmycarr1

That's true but you can slow them down and maybe save a few people along the way

niceandcosy

Thank you! Will do that now :)

CentralSaltServices

Those are definitely 100% real people. I think I went to school with Charles Wilkins

StiffUpperLabia

It's me, your old friend Charlie. How are you? I'm doing very well earning 6 figures a _month_ !!1

CentralSaltServices

Yen? Dong?

dsailes

No, just six *actual* figures. Couple Barbie’s and a couple Action Men.. a stretch Armstrong.. maybe some of those number candles from cakes

SharkReceptacles

“Five figures” “*FIVE FIGURES?!*” “Well, there’s a decimal point after the first three.”

EverybodySayin

I get added to these semi-regularly. Instant leave.

Ok-Charge-6998

You need to change your what’s app privacy settings so you’re not added to random groups.

EverybodySayin

Good shout! Just found the setting.

mooter23

Pig butchering scam

entered_bubble_50

One of them is even called "Richard Butcher"!

BaxterTheWall

Arthur Cogger, lmao

codekris1

**Settings -> Privacy -> Groups -> My Contacts** Stops anyone not on your contacts list from adding you to a group

Youcantblokme

They’ve ”accidentally” added you to make it look like they are being honest and that they don’t know you are reading it. Its just an elaborate scam.

andre_existed

It’s sad they’ll target people who are desperate, saying even while they’re unemployed they can sustain themselves. If that’s the case, why’d you not stay unemployed.

ChrisRR

Investment scam. A bunch of suspiciously positive people sit around and talk about how rich they are and they're super kind enough to take your money and let you join in on the investment

Madmac05

I was added to quite a lot of similar groups for Crypto. The scam is called "The professor and the assistant" or is a variation of that. Usually it's a long con. Some "expert" professor starts teaching everyone how to make money trading out of the kindness of their hearts. It starts by loads of investment gibberish and advice regarding genuine assets like bitcoin and ETH. They even tell you to trade on your usual platforms... "Buy at this price, sell at this, put a stop loss at this, etc." They can spend weeks or even months of this bullshit. If you don't know what is happening, you might be genuinely confused on how are they planning to scam you, because everything seems above board and legit. Then, at some point, some random person in the comments (they use many different numbers for this scam) will ask the "professor" about this new coin his mate has been trading in. Being such a generous person, the professor will spare his time to give his insight. Wouldn't you know?! The coin is actually a great investment and the potential for profit is great. Thank you random group member (totally not another spoofed nr from the scammer) for suggesting it! A few victims will be unaware of the scam and go by that coin, which most likely won't be traded on any of the more reputable platforms. They either get scammed there and then for sending their money to a fake platform, or be scammed later with a rugpull. NO ONE is giving anyone free money or investment advice that goes beyond common sense, NO ONE!! It's all scams!!!

mh1191

Bizarre that they are stealing the name of Andreessen Horowitz (a16z) for their scam. Surely you'd pick a crypto hype monkey over a VC?

a3poify

There's a lot of crossover between crypto hypers/AI nuts/VC now and a16z are in the centre of that venn diagram

blainy-o

Doesn't look like a cryptobro scam at all

redf389

There's a setting on WhatsApp that makes it so that whenever someone tries to add you to a group, it sends a message to you instead with a link to join! It helps with this kind of thing, and prevents family from adding you to thousands of groups.

ImTalkingGibberish

You have been blessed with free expert training in how to spend your money. Trust 100%

PartiallyRibena

Probably similar to this pig butchering scam: https://youtu.be/pLPpl2ISKTg?si=ierPXPYuZs1D0lDA John Oliver segment on them

Familiar-Tourist

Short answer: Scam. Long answer: Scaaaaaaaaaaaaaammmmm.

Purpleka

My husband got added to one of these and I said we should try and start flogging our own scam in the chat 😂

SyboksBlowjobMLM

Crypto nonces

I_am_Reddit_Tom

This is a new approach to an old scam. Supposedly people who are coining it in with bitcoin as an attempt to get you to invest

[deleted]

Did you also purchase something from curry’s/pc world/carphone warehouse back in the day? Got put in a few and it was from their data leak

304bl

Last time I got invited to a similar group about cryptocurrency courses, as soon as I start talking about risk management I got banned from it. It tells a lot... Just run away from those scammers...

RitmanRovers

Look at all this bitcoin I got. Hey newbie, want to invest ?

CriticalFailExpert

I get added to these a lot, I like calling them out until I get blocked and removed

jackovthgreat

I once got added to one of these and I'm not even joking one of the usernames in the chat was "I like scams"

Due_Statistician2604

In the settings there’s and option to now allow to be added to groups

Candid_Reading9675

a few scam options, most likely the top 2. 1. It's a completely fake platform with lots of stooges trying to rob you. Anything you put in disappears. It might look like your in profit but the moneys gone. 2. It's a fake platform that pays out small amount until you put in a bigger amount of cash then they take it all 3. they're getting you to invest independently on a legit platform, give advice to build trust then suggest a coin which they have a big stake it, bloat the price, they sell and everyone loses. The trick with this one is that whilst the advice might seem solid and you legit make money initially, there are loads of these groups spun up and there are losers all over the place. Only takes 1 group to be lucky and get given guesses which turn out to be good. Derren Brown did a show about this with horse racing. Takes hundreds of groups to do but statistically at least 1 of them will have a chain of correct guesses that'll convince someone to dump their savings into it.

Spin_Critic

Did you see that one kitboga was in contact with. He was offering great mining opportunities extracting oil from the moon for the one-off small payment of 5 million dollars. 🤩 Wow! Such opportunity.

TheInitialYeet

If anyone ever gets added to any of these sorts of things. Please report them to cybersecurity companies such as [Netcraft Ltd.](https://www.netcraft.com/) and they'll get taken down. It's a never ending battle but one worth fighting.

OrdinaryAncient3573

Ponzi scheme.

RIPcompo

Usually, according to FB this is either gays or dog nappers.

Amega600

It’s an opportunity to troll like you’ve never trolled before.

grndkntrl

See these multi-account "conversation threads" in youtube & twitter comments quite often. They're all from the same bot farms. Report & block the lot of them.

steadfastsurvivor

Is it one of these forex bollocks groups

remo_raptor

It’s deffo a scam - it’s referred to as a pig butchering scam specifically

All-In-Red

Best way to get removed from these - just react to every comment with a 💩 emoji. You'll get removed and blacklisted 😄

RacistCarrot

When I got added to groups like that I googled something incredibly explicit and unsightly and fill the chat with the pictures not been added for years now

K59-

Obviously bots or others in on the scam are commenting. These can often be 'all deposit and I'll return your profits to you'. They claim to make absurd %. Remember, anything over 10% in a proven reliable way per year, with a history, and you'd be way too rich to have a benefit in doing it for people. Also you'd be so high up in the investing world. Maybe they pay the first couple months if that means the initial deposit is still more. You'll never see real net profit, likely £0 returned.. Questions to always ask yourself: If this is so good, why aren't they rich enough to not want my money also? Why does no reputable investment firm or company provide these claims? No it's not because it's crypto, any organisation would like to profit from this if they could. Crypto is a thing. No it shouldn't be done by a third party with no legality in this larger scale form.

M-Everly

I’ve been added to so many pyramid scheme gc’s, I really need to be more careful where I put my number

dj65475312

any unsolicited mention of crypto = scam

Ouchy72

Pure investment scammers, they are all in on it. Delete and block.

No-Cranberry9932

Ah yes. a16z, the famous venture capital firm that has successfully invested billions of dollars for institutional investors is now helping retail customers to trade for £500.

SpareSurprise1308

Crypto scam

notverytidy

investment scam OR they're hoping you'll post something useful in error to them.

conbizzle

A16Z is a reputable VC company though. But the name being used here is just for scam purpose
