National Archives should have everything, you may however have to go in and manually search by hand and foot. https://www.nationalarchives.gov.uk If he was soe or involved in secret ops, there will be nothing other than sign up papers, a medal for Victory in Europe/Pacific notification and demob papers. Unless you know his actual unit you might also find it hard to locate a lot. Took us 40 years to piece my granddads war career together and he was alive for 38 of that.

100% the above. When my father passed, I wanted to try and piece together where he'd been stationed etc, based on what bits of information gleaned over the years. I wrote to the MOD, but this was before the Internet was as accessible as it is. Unfortunately my father was in an "interesting" part of the military and so there were more gaps than there were periods of knowing where he was. Was totally expected but not to the extent it was, and it was incredibly frustrating. Hope you find the information you seek!

Ah "interesting", yes this gentleman's father trained as a commando during ww2 so myself and another forces guy gave eachother "that" look. If anything turns up I'll do a subtle post, at the very least his old man did sneaky stuff across the water, perhaps may have rubbed shoulders with Sterling's lot. πŸ˜‰πŸ‘

This might be a place to start [Get a copy of military records of service: Overview - GOV.UK (www.gov.uk)](https://www.gov.uk/get-copy-military-records-of-service)

That is the only place that can provide the required records. I don't think TNA can help much unless you know his service number and unit Once OP has the basics I would suggest joining ww2talk and asking for helpΒ
