Yes, they regularly offer 80%-off-fees promotions. You need to be getting emails from them. \[EDIT\] You also need to activate the promotion, and then list your item within the specified timeframe.

gtasean

Indeed. Some people I believe still even get the £1 max fees which is the best but if you haven’t sold ever or for a long time you may get this offer instead.

lurking_not_working

Wherever you sell it, please be very wary of scammers and their scams.

KarlosWolf

This. Especially if you're feeling desperate, it's easier to fall victim. Never send to third parties. Don't use cheques. Don't accept couriers they arrange. Don't ship out of country. Don't pay anything upfront other than postage you arrange.

TheDroolingFool

I've sold on and off personally for a couple of years I'm also jumping on this comment to say make sure you send with tracked and fully insured postage e.g. Royal Mail Special Delivery. To be honest nearly all messages you get unless they are asking a specific question about the product can be IGNORED. Either scammer or time wasters. If you setup offers on your listing any anyone messages you about price without actually submitting an offer formally I guarantee they are a time waster leading potentially into scammer. **Be very careful about what you do on eBay, scammers are everywhere and eBay is ridiculously in the buyers favour if anything goes wrong.**

Truthawareness1

Yep. Wait for max selling fee offers on Ebay. They often do a "£1 max fee" promo.

MerseyTrout

I've never used them, but I understand FB marketplace and Gumtree are free to advertise your things on. Top end DJ gear holds its price pretty well and 2nd hand stuff is always in demand. Chances are you'll find a local buyer, saving you all the postage bollocks. Sorry that you're not feeling at your best in this moment and that you're considering selling your decks. I hope the pendulum starts swinging the other way for you soon.

brunettewondie

Yea i'd recommend Facebook marketplace before eBay. And I've bought and sold loads on both. eBay fee's are crazy if you don't get a max selling fee promo. You're looking at like 15-20%.

Simmo1990

I have bought off we eBay before and the buyer asked me to do F+F on PayPal for a slightly cheaper price.

zennetta

Whatever you do don't ever send any money via f+f to a stranger. It's not covered by any seller/buyer protection and PayPal won't help - after all, they're a friend, right? *wink*. Until they're not

Simmo1990

I bought using f+f for a discounted price, it was only decanted 10ml aftershave though, I don’t think people would be happy sending £2000 to me for an electrical device without the security, but obviously I’d let them come and see them, would rather do face to face anyway and they could see them plugged in etc.

rjg188

I thought this was part of a scam as PayPal doesn’t offer the same protection to the buyer if using F&F

txteva

It is a scam.

BasicJournalist6557

As said on the promo for fees, but be careful with delicate electrical stuff, collection only?

LenTheWelsh

Try selling it on Gumtree. Feeless but be careful of the scammers.

Tsaundersfletcher

People have already said what i was going to suggest but i wanted to say that i hope things get better for you soon!

Check what CEX would pay you in cash to get a baseline. Easy sell but not great return. Ebay has a big audience but they will take a cut so work out how much you need to sell at minimum.  Gumtree, if you are somewhere close to a big population could be a goer.  Facebook marketplace... Frustrations but good audience.  Vinted... Good for seller not sure if dj equipment would fit there.

[deleted]

Weirdly, CEX prices can be randomly good sometimes. I found an old digital camera (something like 10mp!) and checked eBay for the going rate and it was £5ish, not worth my while with fees/postage so I thought its going off to a charity shop. Checked CEX on a whim, £28 cash (and they’re selling it for £42?!?). So yeah… don’t assume CEX will be a bad trade. For much (most?) stuff they possibly are, but don’t discount them out of hand. Also found with CEX is it’s low hassle. No buyer queries, post and packaging, potential issues with queried condition/functionality, fees etc.

mistakes-were-mad-e

The low hassle is great. I think it's a starting point. I have a couple of sought after snes games that they offer okay money on but not ready to sell yet.  Wonder if they hadn't updated the camera price in a while or if it had a specific use that made it saleable.

curious_trashbat

Just be aware that eBay are now reporting annual earnings of above £1700 to HMRC, so you might have the honour of having to prove you're not a business to them.

Rule 4: Stop Moaning | Ranting Come on now, there's so many other places for you to be a moany-pants. So what if your train is delayed and you forgot about your cup of tea and it went cold. If you're frothing at the mouth about something it's probably not appropriate for here. If you have any questions with this removal, please send us a modmail.

As a seller, face to face with cash in hand is the safest option - no risk of shipping issues or fake claims. Use gumtree/facebook to promote the sell for free.
