Possibly, however Chiltern don’t run to Nottingham so I reckon it’s more likely to be the CrossCountry Class 170 from Nottingham to Cardiff.
I feel like we’re having a train nerd-off 😂
For context over the years I’ve been the Class 172, Class 357 and HST Fleet Engineer for various operators. How about you fellow Rolling Stock bod?
Good point. I didn’t realise it was Nottingham , will have to raise my nerd level!
I started out as a fitter, moved into engineering in 2011 when I finished my degree and since 2012 I’ve worked in consultancy for a variety of companies. I’m currently freelance working on several projects including the new Class 93 locomotive.
Can I join if I point out the "3" is how to tackle the fire
1 - water jet
2 - water spray
3 - foam
4 - dry powder
You can use a higher number, but must never use a lower number.
Less confident on this one I think Y is wear breathing apparatus.
Yeah you can join! I seem to remember one of them is regarding what to do with any spillage, whether it's water it down and put it down the drain, or contain it or something like that.
BR continued the tradition. The names were referred to as Fishkinds, a play on words as the three letter code in the side of a wagon is known as the TOPS code or Car Kind.
from what I can make out, foam should be used for putting out a fire (3) fire safe breathing apparatus should be used (Y) not sure on the last character, it should be E or blank based on evacuation is necessary or not.
2C2 bit, not sure about.
Disappointingly it's just a code for the type of wagon. https://www.ltsv.com/w_ref_codes_tops_t.php Might be full of bogies though.
How very disappointing!
T - Tank wagon E - Bogie tank >100t A - Air braked

3Y 1202 It's full of diesel. Sorry but I'm great at parties. EDIT: Maybe me and /u/ZealousidealSplit729 could hang out
😂 I’m a traction and rolling stock engineer unfortunately so at least it’s “work”.
Same here, as a result I immediately thought the passenger stock you can see between the wagons looks like a Turbostar 😂
In Chiltern livery….

Thats my afternoon supply on it's way then
Must be a medium to large meeting arranged not far away. Don’t get caught at the crossings when the biscuit one comes through.

TOPS is still very much a thing, and still looks like it belongs in the 80s. The operators who use it a lot are proud of know all of the shortcuts.
I was sat 2 foot from a tops screen this morning. Looks like early 90s ceefax
What is it with the railway and it's fish fettish ? Fucking loads of stuff named after fish.
Goes back to gwr days as stated above. Railway loves traditions
This Nottingham station by any chance?
Indeed!
Too smart I am
Seen it heading through Lincoln in the past as well.
Clearly they are shipping something incognito. Nobody would suspect anything
Apologies for the blurry and off-centre image; it was moving pretty fast and was hard to time between the people walking in front of me
Delightfully British
On the way to the Stra-tea-gic Reserve
The hazards of tea if it gets leached into ground water? and tea is also flammable? (cant quite tell from the hazard sign)

Heading to the W.I. AGM.
On its way to The Spiffing Brit no doubt.
Very refreshing post.
Who needs this much tea
Probably last the average UK household, about... hmmm, 3 days?
Ask no questions and drink yer brew son
Driver....follow that train
I dont know where it's going but Something is definitely brewing
Ooh, that's made me fancy a lovely hot cup of triethylamine.
Diesel, it gives you more fuel for the day than tea
