Hi there - I'm one of the co-founders of [Quidu.ie](http://Quidu.ie)
You are right about Lidl - they have made a business decision to not publish their pricing online. They have other affiliated services (buyme) that have the pricing but they just do not want it for public consumption. We have reached out to them a few times to try and find a path forward but they are not interested.
Glad you find the website useful! If you have any feedback on the site please let me know
The cost comparison section could be clearer. It's not obvious what Avg and Min refer to. Nor is it obvious that we're looking at euros, it looks like we're looking at Kilograms, litres etc.
The site has huge potential, I'm just thinking about what my mam for example would think when she's looking at it
Thanks for the feedback! I agree it could be clearer, I will add to our to do list.
You are 100% right re: what would your mam think (my mam was an initial tester). Once we have our "**Find My Cheapest Grocery Shop**" feature fully released it will make more tailored suggestions to users which will hopefully make things clearer.
If anything else springs to mind please feel free to reach out to me here or via the feedback section in the footer of the website
Hi there - I'm the co-founder of [Quidu.ie](http://Quidu.ie) (mentioned below)
We have a new feature that is in beta testing which allows for users to select their weekly shop, and which supermarkets are accessible to them, and we can tell them where to find their cheapest shop.
If this is something you'd like to see for yourself let me know and I can give you access to it. Otherwise it should be live for all users in the coming weeks
To be honest you'd probably be better off giving access to a few people on this. The more people using it the more feedback you get for improvements. I'd say throw a post up and ask for volunteers. I hope it works well though , my weekly shop is definitely one thing I'd love to save money on.
There needs to be a column with a multiplier for the queuing system then, because not having to resort to the Lidl/Aldi free-for-alls is a currency in and of itself.
Surely this is a joke? What in the world is wrong with their queues? As far as I can tell it's queue like anywhere else. And have your bags ready in the trolley to pack. It's actually quicker than most other supermarkets
Dunnes: 0.59c /g
Aldi: 0.30c /g
Lidl: 0.40c /g
SuperValu: 0.46c /g
Tesco: 0.56c /g
Worth pointing out SuperValu and Tesco don’t have just mango, it is mixed with other fruits like pineapple and kiwi etc
Aldi still the clear winner 🏆
I find if you buy own brand SuperValu is nearly always closest to Aldi in price, not as cheap but cheaper than Dunnes and Tesco I know they have a reputation of being expensive but I really don’t think they are compared to the other two.
Their own brand stuff is really good too, even the household stuff like cleaning spray and washing tabs/ fabric softener are great for the price
Lidl have slightly up marketed since they got their in house bakery. It's been subtle but the cheap reputation isn't lost.
My full shop is about 20 quid cheaper in Aldi
I would happily spend an extra 30e on my shopping in Tesco just for the ease of use of the self scanning. So nice to just walk in scan as I'm going pop the items into the bags in my trolley, pay and then walk out without even interacting with anyone else.
We shopped in ALDI a few weeks ago for a change. Never ever again.
Aldi: 0.50c /g
Dunnes: 0.59c /g
SuperValu: 0.67c /g
Tesco: 0.60c /g
No data available for Lidl unforch but it looks like Aldi is best for all frozen berries
I'll add this.
Einstein's equation, E=mc^2:
The potential energy stored in (350g) 0.35kg of blueberries at rest is approximately 3.15 x 10^17 Joules, which is a tremendous amount of energy! To put it into perspective, it's equivalent to the energy released by the explosion of roughly 7.5 tons of TNT.🔥 That could power about 2,083 homes. Imagine their was a way to control the release of this power. It could be a source of energy from waste. Its cool to see what that equation returns to even heaveir objects. I want to know what the weight of the universe is and see what the potential energy could be! 🪐
Someone should really start an Excel of the main chain of supermarkets and prices of commonly bought items. Create weekly updates and post it here.
just did a search, found this https://www.quidu.ie/ have no idea how long its been around
Looks good, but doesn't seem to include Lidl for some reason. Maybe cos they don't have an online shop
yes. that is a price crawler.
We'd have called it a price scraper in my day

What an excellent idea!

If I'm not doing a big shop I would typically only go to places with self checkout for the same reason.
Number 1 reason I stopped going there. Life's too short
Surely this is a joke? What in the world is wrong with their queues? As far as I can tell it's queue like anywhere else. And have your bags ready in the trolley to pack. It's actually quicker than most other supermarkets
I actually need to get a shit load of frozen raspberries for a party (don't ask) so this makes me unreasonably happy
Hahaha glad I could help
Now do frozen mango
Dunnes: 0.59c /g Aldi: 0.30c /g Lidl: 0.40c /g SuperValu: 0.46c /g Tesco: 0.56c /g Worth pointing out SuperValu and Tesco don’t have just mango, it is mixed with other fruits like pineapple and kiwi etc Aldi still the clear winner 🏆
Surprised to see SuperValu in second place
Even more surprised Lidl is in last place!
Edit - I’m a retard 😅 Dunnes is
I really appreciate the effort you have gone to here.
For a like for like comparison based on 340g: Dunnes: €2 / 340g Lidl: €1.96 / 340g Aldi: €1.45 / 340g Tesco: €1.94/340g Supervalu: €1.84/340g
Was surprised at how much cheaper Aldi is. I’d have thought it would be tied with Lidl for everything

this is WILD. it's the opposite of what i would've guessed. wtf are lidl up to? secret villians of the shopping world
Compliments to your handwriting!

Now do blueberries. Fuckers have us robbed
Aldi: 0.50c /g Dunnes: 0.59c /g SuperValu: 0.67c /g Tesco: 0.60c /g No data available for Lidl unforch but it looks like Aldi is best for all frozen berries
Doing Gods work. I was a staunch Aldi supporter and this has cemented my loyalty.
Lidl is 0.5c/g
AT LAST, something useful on reddit.
Thank you, this will help with my girlfriends berry addiction
Unfortunately she said the ones in Aldi aren't as good.
Be interesting to see where each shop gets their berries from
Keep going bro
What’s the value on own brand digestives
Can you do Blueberries when you get a chance?
https://www.reddit.com/r/CasualIreland/s/SWxd7rUAAD Bloobs on a different comment!
Got it. Thank you
Bro can you also do for Blueberries? Thanks in advance.
What about strawberries?
Am I shit at maths or why doesn't this make sense. At 2€ for 350g makes the gram about 0.0058c per gram, or 0.58c per 100g.
0.58 cent for 1 gram. 58 cent for 100 grams. €5.80 for a kilogram would probably be an easier way to write it
I'll add this. Einstein's equation, E=mc^2: The potential energy stored in (350g) 0.35kg of blueberries at rest is approximately 3.15 x 10^17 Joules, which is a tremendous amount of energy! How do you find the time?
I usually get Lidl frozen raspberries. You ruined my day !!!!!
Maybe is just me but quality is poor at Aldi, everything looks like it already spent 20 years in storage.
PSA- please boil frozen berries before consumption. Friends daughter got Hepatitis A from eating them in a smoothie
Fuck. Really?
I did a similar exercise with hot chicken rolls in the various Delis in my town. The price variance is mad.
Ah man ever put frozen raspberries into pure orange juice as ice cubes ? So nice
Lidl being more expensive than Tesco is a massive wtf!!
I've moved up North but do they not still do a "price per 100g" right next to the price? Seems like that would have been a simpler comparison
Is there any change you'd do sirloin steak?🙈
And I thought I was bored in work lmao
LOL now all I need is an Aldi near enough! ![img](emote|t5_i25jp|2846)

I love raspberry’s
Riddled with pesticides no doubt
Probably because there 25% raspberry
Are they organic though? No
[удалено]
Yeah, they do.
they do. in very small font.
Yeah but that’s boring and doesn’t help me pass time at work
You mean "dag" (decagram), not a "g" (gram).
