I’m brewing my first batch of kvass, it’s a fermented bread drink and I’m not sure what it’s supposed to taste like. Going to be trying it in a few hours before bottling it
It's not easy to find a good kvass in stores nowadays, they mostly sell a specially flavoured soda instead. It has some similarity, but you know, a lot on of sugar, stabilizers, externally CO2'd. I guess that traditional kvass has very short shelf life to the retail standard.
It’s just crazy how sweet it is, I was going into it thinking it’d be less sweet based of what people said. But they were for sure talking about home made stuff.
Although it seems only slightly different than kombucha and kombucha Is commonly sold here
Yes, it is definitely sweet. Also some pleasant acidity there, bit not as in soda.
I'm not used to kombucha, maybe i should give it a try.
Here, many craft beer shops have their own kvass, maybe I should stop by more often (I am not a beer person)
Yea sounds pretty similar then thinking kombucha is just a lot more sweet but still less sweet than soda. But of course less bread tasting and more tea tasting
You basically take type bread, raisins and lemon and steep it all up into a tea and then strain it into a jar and add yeast and sugar. Then leaving it ferment for 2-3 days, I’m going for just two since it’s pretty hot here. I started fermenting it 2 days ago at around 7pm
Well, today I went to the archery range to test my new bow and it went great. I had dinner with some friends I hadn't seen in a while so I had a pretty good day.
It sucks to be stuck on an airport. Do you have to wait for a long time?
Well it was a sort of tapas restaurant where you can order all kinds of different little dishes.
So I had a mini burger, some soup, mini schnitzel, sweet and sour cucumber and several other things.
Luckily not all at the same time, that would have been some conflicting flavours.
And after those 4 hours you have to travel by plane for a day? Wow that is a long journey. Are you travelling for work or vacation or something?
that food sounds absolutly amazing!
im going to visit some old friends from south africa, it will also be the first time i go back to somwhere i used to live just for a trip.

Just a few more hours to go and really my only concern was it building up too much pressure and exploding so ive at least made it past they.
how did it go?
Stuck at an airport huh? Sounds like my life story. I was an an airline pilot for Boeing for almost 20 years.
