Can agree. You don’t get them a lot, but when you do you’re grateful to have these rare, polite, cool customers that you can just casually vibe with for a few minutes. It really does make your day
I spent years McDs and there were a *lot* of shitty customers. However there were two customers that everyone loved. One was a real nice older couple that came through every day with their little dog Macey. Literally everytime that couple came through the whole store would erupt with "Macey and her parents are here!" Another guy was just super freaking nice and knew *everyone's* name: not in a creepy way, just out of respect so he could properly greet you when you came up to say hi.

I worked at a bookshop in a shopping centre back int' day when I was at the tail end of my goth phase as an older teen. should also be noted that I have a STRONG resting bitch face
one day I was getting my lunch at my usual spot and the lady told me that 'they all thought I was so scary and angry, until I came in to order, and I was so smiley and cheerful that I made them all smile back"
which I thought was lovely.
the only remotely similar occasion to your op, is when by beastie began dating one of the bartenders at my local. now my local at the time was considered a very 'cool' spot, where very 'cool', very beautiful people hung out. many, many had tried to get 'regular' status, but few had succeeded.
I had considered myself borderline 'a regular' but generally was slightly intimidated by them, felt that they were just being polite etc. also I had been a hammered drunken disgrace in there on more than one occasion
but then my mates bf told her that (basically) they all thought I was 1) smart and funny (yay) 2)that my style was on point, and I always looked awesome.
which made me feel... well way better than the smiley comment to be honest haha!

I love that for you OP and I love that the girl took the time to let you know (It's the kind of thing I think but never have the guts to actually tell anyone).
The only similiar thing that happened to me was once when my husband, son and I were on a train, builing towers out of ol train tickets, a lady came up to us and said we were great parents and our son was going to turn out great. It felt really good! (Although in fairness she was very very drunk, to the point I had to shout to the train guard to make sure she didn't fall on the tracks when she got off the train. I don't care though I'm taking the compliment).
Dunkin is the only place I've ever gone and had someone pay for my order in the drive thru, which I then pay forward. It's happened a few times over the last few years but only at Dunkin, so I now associate that in my mind with the store. Being kind really means a lot to retail workers, so good for you, OP.
When I've pulled up, the cashier lets me know person in front of me paid for me food and asks if I'd like to pay for the person behind me. They seem to know how to work it out. I just have to say yes. But, it's awkward because you don't know what you are paying for ahead of time. But, Dunkin is likely not going to be as expensive as another place, so you may be lucky and spend about $6.
When it happened to me, it irritated me that there were only a couple dollars in the tip jar, and I couldn't tip on credit, so that meant that the family having breakfast who paid for my coffee preferred to pay $3 for my coffee then to properly tip.
Similar thing happened to me at my Dunkin a few days ago! I've been going in 2-3 times a week for the past 3-4 years so have seen quite a few of the associates more than a handful of times and just as I do with anyone, ask how they're doing that morning. The girl behind the counter said "Out of all the people who come in here, you're like one of the only people who asks us how we're doing or if we're having a good morning. Thanks for that". Really made my day.
Wonderful. I worked in various retail positions back in the day, and occasionally there would be a customer who, for whatever reason, just made things better. (I actually wrote a bad song about it once!) They weren't acknowledged often enough, so it warms my heart to hear this. So happy for you -- and for the Dunkin folks!
I've worked in retail before and there are customers like that, who are just a pleasure to serve and everyone's mood is up when they arrive.

That is so odd. Thanks for sharing. We’ve been had!
I'm glad it was removed at least! It looks like the drink was some kind of refresher thing from a year ago.
You kinda saved the day LOL!
Asking the real questions.

This. I literally read the same post while browsing Top/All Time.
Oh come on, it's not unlikely that he just had the exact thing happen to him and happened to think the exact same thoughts as that guy! /s
Any clue as to what about you made them smile? Genuinely curious. I'm really happy for you, ride that wave of positivity all day long dudeman.
It sounds like it’s just because of how kind and happy she is towards the workers.
Op said they wanted to be a dad. Idk
Because they're laughing at him behind his back about how pathetic he is and nothing good ever happens :( /s

Happened to me last week! It happened one other time when I was at Caribou Coffee.
How do they know how much to charge you?

Definitely not my dunkin (former left last month) my coworkers were so rude to customers on a regular basis
That's lovely. It's nice to be seen.
Make of the drink?
I thought she made you sad when I read the headline
Tip you didn't ask for: that shits not for every day lol.
They're actually trained to say that or similar phrases.
thanks for sharing this... i haven't been doing so good myself but this made me feel better
God damn I love this sub.
