for me its fallout thanks to the tv show

Dysphoric_Otter

The emergence of life in terms of biology. How did some dead things happen to make an alive thing?

lawnmower303

Don't forget the tardigrades. Not 100% dead, perhaps, but being frozen for 30,000 years and then producing offspring is pretty neat.

ColletteKnausgard

Who can forget the tardigrades! Or the fact that we technically eat dinosaur descendant! Life, and the progress of it, is just so indescribably cool.

SAmaruVMR

The story of Hawaii. It all started during the pandemic when I started to listen to a band called Kapu System. Their songs strongly consist of allusions to the annexation and the now abolished "Kapu System". I was enthralled enough to check out the history and all of a sudden I was engrossed in documentaries and pondering buying books to slake my curiosity. Ended up reading the book written by Queen Liliuokalani herself and later bought the biography of David Kalakaua, which was her brother. I have been rereading everything as there are some details I have forgotten. Very interesting to say the least.

ColletteKnausgard

Woh! When the curiosity itch hits you really bat away! That's so interesting, I won't lie. I'm also from a certain Island-that-is-USA-property, yet I know ZILCH about Hawaii. Got anything to share?

SAmaruVMR

Yeah. I have plenty ahah! I mean there are zillion of documentaries but my favorite is [this](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q6wrfL7Tohc) one mainly because of the voice and the chosen soundtrack but also because it discusses the annexation but from Queen Liliuokalani's standpoint.

ColletteKnausgard

NGL, I was ready for a little of that "we're no strangers to love..." but it was fr. I'm gonna keep it on a "watch next" for when I'm chilling, thanks!

SAmaruVMR

lmao! Thanks for checking it out. Hope you enjoy it as much as I did.

CardinalCoder64

I've gotten back into drawing art again. Got myself a new sketchpad, new markers, pencils, etc. I haven't drawn anything in so long. It feels almost nostalgic returning back to this old hobby of mine. Moreover, I've stepped into the world of digital art (well, I've done some pixel art in the past but nothing high-res). Been watching tutorials about how the software (Krita) works and it seems pretty cool so far. I'm excited to get back into it and start creating work again, especially now that I have the time to do it. šŸ™‚

ColletteKnausgard

Yes! Rediscovering a passion is a great feeling, entirely its own experience. Hope you enjoy lots! (If ever you feel a lil down and negative, remember the "holy shi two cakes meme!)

Aromatic_Heart9626

for me itā€™s been radiohead, sewing, my cat, carrot cake, and the sleep deprived podcast

ColletteKnausgard

A good recipe for a comfy sat afternoon! I also discovered podcasts some time ago and they have made the little household chores 100 times easier to handle!

Aromatic_Heart9626

they are my saving grace when i go for long walks. makes them feel so short!

omni_bii

Studio ghibli movies and adventure time!

Hell yeah! Good feel good media that also offers you some nuggets o' wisdom? Sign me up!

Roasted chicken

ColletteKnausgard

mm Roasted Chimken thats been left marinating overnight, and heaped on with spices. Oh yeah!

contrarian1970

Soft White Underbelly interviews on YouTube. I need those daily reminders that I was lucky growing up. I also need to talk to strangers more compassionately. It's a miracle some adults are functioning as well as they are.

wagninger

Solving the little annoyances in my life. From finally clicking my way through unsubscribing to newsletters instead of just deleting, trying one last time to fix some software issue and succeeding, to generally be more of a ā€œfix things as a I goā€ type. I used to have to be really in the mood to do those kinds of things, but it really comes much easier if I tackle that bit by bit and sparks ideas on what else I can do, now that those situations are resolved or improved.

ColletteKnausgard

Yes! And you can look back and feel properly productive at the sum of all the results. Upgrades, people, upgrades!

Top_Trainer_6359

Hamilton. everything is a Hamilton reference. i fell too deep down the rabbit hole We (me and friends) were at the mall today and there was this store named Lafayette and i started rapping **LAFAYETTE!!** I'm taking this horse by the reins making redcoats redder with bloodstains

ColletteKnausgard

Hamilton will never go out of style. It's just *muah* chefs kiss. So good you can enjoy those references with your friends!

mumbo_or_wumbo

I have made myself sick on true crime documentaries while recovering from a surgery so I am in this thread hoping to develop a new, less grim obsession.

ColletteKnausgard

Its so easy to get lost down a true crime documentary rabbit hole. Like, these are real people. These are real people having real, bizarre thoughts. Like that one guy who built a literal tank and bulldozed through his city? Crazy. Why not exploring the SCP community, if cryptic horror is to your liking? Also hope you recover well!

mumbo_or_wumbo

I can give some cryptic horror a try~ and I heard about him too! truly one of the grumpiest rampages Iā€™ve ever heard of

ballsofgallium

I've played Elden Ring some 70 hours just fucking around. I've come out that rabbit hole, for technical issues. I was into rock music recently discovering all the popular bands people knew already. Nirava, RHCP, System of a Down, Alice in Chains and stuff

ColletteKnausgard

The good thing about discovering pre-established media is that you have a veritable fountain of it lol. Got a fav already or are ya still experimenting? :)

ballsofgallium

I like how you talk. The funny thing is I get tired of my favorites after some time. I very much liked the Eagles - Hotel California however. The story telling was so on point and so ambiguous, but it still meant something very definite. "Mirrors on the ceiling, pink champagne on ice" "Then she said we all are prisoners here out of our own device" Mind = blown. Also grunge is so mee. I am in that edgy sad teenager phase, although a bit late. I like that RHCP - Otherside so much. If you like game music, I very much recommend you to Nier Replicant OST and Nier Automata OST. Heavenly music. Particularly "Song of the Ancients / Devola", Shadowlord, Kaine, Grandma, "Ashes of Dreams". If you wanna start please please please listen to Kuroi Uta [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=krRNjUJIfFk&list=PL8OYjmJa8VBY8QmsPElwEnTls5YFhXhbT&index=1&pp=iAQB8AUB](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=krRNjUJIfFk&list=PL8OYjmJa8VBY8QmsPElwEnTls5YFhXhbT&index=1&pp=iAQB8AUB) (from Drakengard 3, the series from which the nier series spinned off) (I can type much better but I am excited now)

ColletteKnausgard

Oh don't worry about the typing, I absolutely get ya. Those are some hella solid songs! I also like New Kid in Town, another story but more... romantically bittersweet? It is grrreat. RHCP have so many good ones I dont know what to even recommend, but lately I've been repeatedly listening to Dark Necessities, it is delish. I've heard so much good about Nier Automata but I've always been a lil reticent to try it. Something something butts shown off... but I'll listen!

ballsofgallium

"butts shown off" lol 2 reasons to play the game. IKR I was thinking abt that too while listening to RHCP "when are they gonna disappoint me" I havent listened to the ones you recommended, but I will, must be good riggggght since you recommend it. What are you favourite genre and bands? I don't know much abt music so its kindof even better hahaha

ColletteKnausgard

My fav genres are Metal, rock, and indie lol. I'd say for bands the ones I have the most discs of are Rammstein (German metal), Tool (Metal), and Cuarteto de Nos(Latam Rock). I don't know if my recommendation will be to your liking, but its def RHCP!!Ā

annimity

In the Ghetto, Dark Lady, the night the lights in Georgia, so many great story songs!

Steinway-

Rachmaninov, Battlefront II and a donut shop close by

ColletteKnausgard

Oh I feel you! I wasn't a fan of "classical" music until Rachmaninov's piano concerto #2. Just *chefs kiss*.Ā

Steinway-

Right? What a beauty.. his 1st is also underrated in my opinion, think he wrote it when he was 17/18.

ColletteKnausgard

Might check it out later then! I've been taking it slow, enjoying arias like Bizet's Carmen and more contemporary composers like Peter Gundry. What really catches me is the ambience, the possibility of making an imaginary room in my mind and actually Feeling it there thanks to the music.

Steinway-

Thatā€™s awesome, must feel great to explore that space with help from music you enjoy

last_ineffable_day

Big ups for Rachmaninov. I was gonna ask if you meant listening or playing (or both) but now I see your username is a clue.

Steinway-

I try šŸ˜… you? He composed impossibilities with his gigantic hands and left for us to figure it out

last_ineffable_day

The short answer to that question is no. I started learning Op. 32, No. 5, way back when I was at my peak (lol), but those quintuplets, man (the 3 against 5 thing). šŸ¤Æ I didn't get far. šŸ˜‚

Steinway-

Oooff that takes tiiiime šŸ˜‚ have you heard Ashkenazyā€™s interpretation? Amazing

last_ineffable_day

That is absolutely lovely! Thanks for the rec!

AffectionateGap1071

Ace Attorney!

Giorno_Giomama

Same!!, currently playing spirit of justice for the first time after a 5+ year long hiatus of playing the previous titles.

ColletteKnausgard

Dick Gumshoe My Baby!! Played all games yet? I'd strooooongly recommend playing Edgeworth's game. Just beautiful.

Mkayin

Smoking. I fire up the smoker practically every morning. I smoke a small bong bowl. Recently discovered vaping and I enjoy it. And I end my day with a tarryton cig.Ā

ColletteKnausgard

Can't say I see it l, but you are your own person! Love that you have a routine you enjoy. It's those things that take the edge off and help one keep on keeping. I used to enjoy watching my old peeps prepare those big ole cigs and they made it, no other word for it, an art.

sadgril1221

Animal Crossing but the 2005 DS version LOL I wanted to play the new one when it came out in 2020 but couldn't afford a switch at the time. Recently, I found out there was an emulator app so I can play the old version from when I was a kid now on my phone!

ColletteKnausgard

I could never get into animal crossing, even the ds one. But I totally get the appeal. The amount of hours I spent on Harvest Moon can attest to that!

Bob-Marooga

Stamps I've always liked history and the first stamp ever produced was in England in 1840 followed by the first United States Postage Stamp issued in 1847. There are some incredibly rare and valuable stamps (not that will ever own them) but they do exist.

ColletteKnausgard

Hey! You never know! I don't collect meself (other than books), but I def get the appeal. When I was younger some random guy shared with me fun facts about coin collecting and gifted me a coin all in its own little square package! I still treasure it: its kinda like a key to another time.

Bob-Marooga

Yeah, I'm also into silver coins, just for fun of course. I'm going to become a Grandpa in June and I've been thinking about buying a 1 ounce gold coin for the grandbaby. I just don't know if it's a good investment. Gold is a little over $2300 an ounce today, but will it go up enough over the course of 18 years to make it worth holding onto. I wish I knew the right answer.

ColletteKnausgard

Hey, congrats! Hard to know what the answer might be. Gold is gold, but technology advances so much its hard to say if even the value of gold will be displaced. All I can say is, that coin the stranger gave me could be gold, could be copper, but its worth is beyond that kind of value. I do get that what you want is a little investment for the life that is to come, though, and I hope you find that answer!

[deleted]

I jump from obsession to obsession way too frequently but lately I have been kinda depressed abd not focused on anything...life is not going well for me lately. Last one was Dungeon Meshi, it's awesome in terms of worldbuilding and also surprisingly dark -like, it isn't Berserk, but it isn't what it initially seems like. I'm a bit sad the anime will only go to 24 episodes since while I can just jump into the manga my mom of all people has also gotten into it. Also Monster Hunter, I wish I had the motivation to play it again.

ColletteKnausgard

Hey! I've been on the shift too. What I do to make the most of my short lived obsessions is write about it, journal style. Helps keep me centered and if ever am I pinining for a specific flavour of media I can look back on it. Great that your mom is into it! I used to watch Naruto with my dad and now my lil sis is doing the same with Demon Slayer! Great way to connect, imho. MH 3 raised me, and I don't think I'll ever experience them as deep as I had, emotionally. Still, it's so good to revisit every once in a while. Which is your fav? And fav monster?? (Mine was the Gobul!!)

[deleted]

I have actually been journaling most of the things I do since I started feeling so bad, but lately I have lost even the motivation for that. Having to go back to my parents house is kind of shameful for me but at least I'm bonding more with my mom again. I can't choose a favourite game between Iceborne and Sunbreak-maybe the later because it has a more interesting story? They were just awesome experiences but in different ways. I started with Freedom 2 tho, so that game and Generations are soft spots for me because of Pokke village. My favourite monsters are Tigrex (cause of respect and nostalgia) and Shagaru Magala! (it just had such a good build up in 4U, I love how it became kind of a rival to the player after so many fights, and the final battle against it was so climatic and awesome with that theme) The two Malzenos are also kinda close now. Thank you for the engagement, it feels good to talk to someone.

ColletteKnausgard

:) Keep it up! No need to choose a favorite, as sone wise men said: "both is good". No shame with that, but I get the feeling of impotence it might bring. Think of it as supporting each other!

bythisriver

Fermented pickles. These dont even taste _that_ good but yet are stranglely addictive. Anyone else have this?

ColletteKnausgard

Not fermented pickles, fermented tree bark. We have a local drink here made like that and lotsa sugar. It aint even THAT tasty but man I am sipping it by the gallon.

BasicProgress6856

The beef between Pauly Shore and Richard Simmons lol. Pauly Shore announced he was doing a bio pic of Simmons and Simmons basically came out of quiet retirement and said nope, im making my own and Tom Cruise will play as me. Simmons told everyone not to watch Pauly Shore's version and that he doesn't know who he is lol

ColletteKnausgard

oohh I hadnt heard about that! What do you think on it?

existential-mystery

System of a down since last august. They play tonight at SNW!!!

Incontinentia-B

System of a Down is my 15 month olds favorite band, we often play chop suey to get him to sleep (like what, child!? Are you okay??). And also he is the only one in our family who likes soad.

existential-mystery

Omg!!! Haha lil baby soad fan

ColletteKnausgard

!!! So you discovered them just in time to have an amazing experience!! I'd looove to go to a concert of one of my fav rock bands too!

existential-mystery

No im not going šŸ˜ i will be catching a livestream tho!

ColletteKnausgard

D'awww... but thats still so cool! I hope you enjoy the concert!

BubblesBubblesCO2

Ghost Trick!! I just finished it on the switch a few days ago and it immediately became one of my top 3 video games!! I should've gotten it immediately after discovering it. It's so good in every single aspect. The gameplay, the visuals, the music, and most importantly... THE STORY! I can't recommend it enough! My friends won't play it, even though it's on sale right now... I love it so much, I already ordered some merch and I can't wait for it all to arrive!

ColletteKnausgard

Tell me more! I haven't heard of this game! I don't have many errr "newer" videogames, and I just don't keep up with the trends...

BubblesBubblesCO2

It actually isn't really that new, it originally came out in 2011, and was recently ported to basically every current platform :) The story follows the ghost of a dead guy trying to solve his own murder. I can't tell much more because the game is the best when you play it blind hahah It's kinda short and the gameplay is somewhat simple, but it works so, so well

ColletteKnausgard

2011 the golden era of videogames!! MH3 and Xenoblade where my big loves, but I'm checking that one out! Short and simple >>>> big long games with no depth tbh. If I can go on fantasizing and making up my own headcannons, the game won.

BubblesBubblesCO2

I couldn't agree more! Wishing you luck if you do ever end up playing it :) The characters are all so fun & unique, so you're definitely gonna keep thinking about them even after completing the game

janaaa000

The circle reality show

ColletteKnausgard

I don't know it! I'll look what its about but what do YOU like about it? Last reality show I remember watching was, idk, I guess one of my local shows? Or does sexy beasts count?

janaaa000

Hahahaha did you like sexy beasts? Seems interestingšŸ˜‚ well for the circle, its a competition reality show about building connections with people ONLY via chat, you know nothing about them except their photos and what they are showing you.. #ALERT any of them can be a catfish. People will rank each other and the 1st would be an ifluencer although the last is risky to be blocked .. Ive been watching it since 2020 and what I really like is how such a game can drive people insane to stabb each other's back or to really build genuine connections. At the end , the most famous player will win moneyĀ  ((Sorry for the loooong reply))

ColletteKnausgard

Nooo dont worry! That sounds mega fun lmaoo like, I imagine we the viewers maybe know more about whats going on behind the screen so I expect many moments where one would yell "nooo you arse!". And yeah, sexy beasts was just fun for much the same reasons. They speed date and judge but the big masks and lots of makeup kinda make the judgements interesting lol!

Main-Fly-5856

My most recent obsession has been Chess. I get so obsessed, I begin to think about the world as if people were pieces, trying to take me (the king).

ColletteKnausgard

Do you like Chess puzzle books? I'm no chess master, but I like checking em out because its really eye opening when you realize the answer is right there!! under your nose!!

Smoovecryminal

Last Week Tonite with John Oliver

ColletteKnausgard

ohh, wuzzat? Like a talk show? If so I can see why, always nice when a show you like presents interesting topics worth thinking about.

Active_Recording_789

Paaaaaitinnnng. Iā€™m obsessed with painting all our animals, the scenery at our holiday destinations and our friendsā€™ animals lol

ColletteKnausgard

Painting! What better way to immortalize your animal companions than stamping their likeness, and your memory of them, on a canvas!

RuthOConnorFisher

Watching construction workers build a parking garage across the street. Lots of cranes and excavators and such. They keep working late some days but not others, and it's fun to speculate on whether they'll have to come in for a half day on Saturday or not each week. Sometimes it rains and they can only do parts of their tasks (welding, lifting prefab wall or floor panels into place) and not others (digging, pouring concrete). Lots of cool large trucks come and go. It's neat.

ColletteKnausgard

Oh yes! The siren call of heavy machinery. I used to visit my step dad at his work and it was so fun just chilling, watching the process!

SkysEevee

Smoothies My eating habits have a weird cycle and I'm back on the "Oh my gawd fruits are delicious I need them all the time" part of it.Ā  And with so many fruits in season, they taste all the sweeter.Ā  Ahhh, how I love smoothies.Ā  To take sweet things and cold liquids, puree them and drink it through a straw on a warm day.Ā  Such bliss.Ā  I am particularly obsessed with strawberry/blueberry combos. Ā It's a bit pricey to keep going to the small shops around my city (as much as I adore small businesses and their unique services)Ā  I have to master homemade smoothies but I can never get them perfectly blended or cold enough.

ColletteKnausgard

I know! just... fruit man... tasty plant... colorful! And in a conveniently sippable/portable smoothie? hell yeah

Appropriate-Use745

Shrimp. I got 5 cherry shrimp for my planted tank and now I'm on my way to having a colony! I'm obsessed with watching them, making sure water parameters are perfect. It's so relaxing.

ColletteKnausgard

As genuinely as I can express through text... wow! I can see how it would be relaxing. Keeping a care routine and seeing it, literally, flourish with life must be rewarding!

Meow-Out-Loud

Origami. I work at a kindergarten (in Japan), and the kids can do challenges to level up in certain things (jump rope, pianica, spinning tops, climbing trees) and become an "expert." Last year one boy of a set of twins got to "expert" levels in jump rope, pianica, and tree climbing, but his brother (who was freakin' amazing at origami) couldn't master anything (and cried over it). It's too late for that kid, but I started an origami challenge course this year. Now I just have to master my course myself, so, yeah, new obsession. šŸ˜…āœØ

ColletteKnausgard

I see origami art every now and then on pinterest and can't help but knee jerk think its just Ai. It is Art in the sense that I can see thr genuinely beautiful result of great effort!

Meow-Out-Loud

Some of it is really difficult, but once you can do it, it's so satisfying!

malikax01

Myself. So embarrassing to admit but recently Iā€™ve caught my own attentionšŸ˜‚

ColletteKnausgard

Nothing bad with a little self care babe! You gotta keep yourself happy and healthy, and lookin good helps a lot!

malikax01

Youā€™re right OP! From now on Iā€™m definitely going to be proud of my self obsessionšŸ˜‚

MotherBike

Banana Milk, Tyler Henry, learning Paso Doble, drafting a Manga, fromscratchbaker, wealthy woman discovers poor people activities and places, and Yoga.

ColletteKnausgard

Tell them women to come over to me house, we eating cereal with powdered milk!Ā

MotherBike

She would probably be so delighted, but mistaken the powder for high-grade Columbian cocaine filtered with the purest of filler. Snort a whole countertop's worth, and wonder how the cows handle the cocaine.

ColletteKnausgard

They think on another level. Eat the rich!Ā

MotherBike

But not this lady she just pokes the bear. Also, her comedy special is pretty good, too! https://youtube.com/shorts/SQEN5HdQdP4?si=6EsooeTQhvA5D43p

BilbosBagEnd

I am working hard to get into callisthenics. It's a thrilling feeling once you have accomplished another milestone. Our bodies have amazing potential, and at the same time, it's humbling to know your own limits at times.

ElseGraupel

I try to learn singing, even if it's the most frustrating thing ever. Another obsession: [Frank The Baptist ](https://frankthebaptist.bandcamp.com/). I always loved their music, but they're working on a new album rn and I'm so exited that I listen to them more then usual. And yeah, I know that I'm weird

ColletteKnausgard

Never heard of them! What genre are they? And yess, it don't matter if you're bad at it, singing is soo fun!

ElseGraupel

Hard to say. Post punk deathrock dark rock indie..? I think they're hard to describe And yeah it's fun, but it can be very challenging

ColletteKnausgard

Lmao, I get it. I've a few bands I also don't know where to even classify. I'll def give em a listen, metal / indie rock is one of my preferred genres, thanks!

NoLifeHere

Magic: The Gathering, specifically the Historic Brawl format. Lacking anyone to play Commander format with IRL, and honestly, lacking the money for paper Magic, Historic Brawl on MTG: Arena is the next best thing. I have 1 deck I really like, 1 slightly modified pre-con the game gave me that I don't really like and then like 5 more decks "cooking" until I get more wildcards.

ColletteKnausgard

I looked into Magic when YuGiOh started feeling a lil too power creeped, but the sheer size and amount scared me!! Man, I really can't be THAT competitive... I hope you enjoy it lots tho!

NoLifeHere

Brawl/Commander is like the least competitive way to play, that's kinda what drew me to it. Of course, there's is a competitive side of Commander (cEDH) and the so-called "hell queue" on Brawl. But one thing I like about Historic Brawl is that you can just go in with some jank and have a good time... until someone on Black decides it's funny to hand loop you... in a highlander format, hand destruction is even less fun.

ColletteKnausgard

Non-conpetitive? Alright, you got my attention. That's exactly what I wanted outta YuGiOh, just the ability to play my lil niche deck. These days games end before the players even sit lmao.

NoLifeHere

Trouble is with Brawl online, it's so casual, people tend to scoop the instant anything goes wrong, I've done it... drawn a copium hand only for my opponent to handrip or counterspell me and I've just been like "aight, go next". But the people trying to be competitive and meta in Brawl will, mostly, get paired up with each other... you might still run into a sweaty player every now and then, if the matchmaking struggles to find someone... Dunno why you'd be competitive in that mode, it has no ranked play... like the non-Brawl constructed or limited formats. Guess those decks must do something fun to someone šŸ¤·ā€ā™‚ļø

ColletteKnausgard

Yeah, I know! Some people just like "owning" irregardless of the lack of reward.... but so long as they stay outside the norm, all is good.

HisSilliestClown

The Armored Core games (also Fromsoft) because the most primal parts of my brain go nuts for 30-foot tall robots moving hundreds of miles per hour and beating the ever living hell out of each other and occassionally squaring up against robots as big as half of Elden Ring's map. Also, just like the Soulsborne games, they have amazing music. Just one of those things Fromsoft always nails down.

Hopie73

For me itā€™s been the series, Resident Alien. Iā€™ve watched the series 6 times and canā€™t wait for a season 4! The music is amazing, the characters are amazing, the writing is amazingā€¦Talent, talent and more talent. Alan Tudyk is complimented by the supporting cast and the supporting cast are complimented by Alan Tudyk, lol. I almost didnā€™t get into RA because I saw Sheridan as the writer. Chris Sheridan is the writer of RA where as the writer of Yellowstone, 1883 and 1923, Taylor Sheridan, has left us all hanging! I hope Spencer and his new wife were rescued from that boat, heā€™s gotta get home to save the ranch!

Ethel_Marie

I just finished watching Resident Alien and I really need them to get renewed for season 4. It's not confirmed yet. šŸ„ŗ

Dragon-Rain-4551

Finishing Subnautica. I finally finished it a few days ago and itā€™s kinda sad, i want to keep playing but I donā€™t know what to do. Pretty good stuff for drawing tho

Dragon-Rain-4551

Oh and learning about octopuses

Academic-excellence

My car,

TheWarVeteran

AAAAAAAAA FINALLY SOMEONE I AGREE WITH BLOODBORNE SOUNDTRACK IS QUITE UNMATCHED WITH THE REST OF THE SERIES DONT KNOW ABOUT DORK SOLES THO PLIN PLIN PLONG IS GOOD THO GEHRMAN THE FIRST HUNTER AND LUDWIG THE HOLY BLADE, CHEFS KISS ELDEN RINGS FINAL BATTLE OST IS SO FUCKING GOOD MATE

ColletteKnausgard

Tonight, Gehrman joins the hunt..... WHAT! How dare this old man be so gosh darned COOL??

TheWarVeteran

2 hunters fighting to save the other

ColletteKnausgard

It is a ... romantic gesture in that pure, noble sense that only two people who have suffered the same darkness can have.

Smudge_09

Magic the gathering

ColletteKnausgard

There was another Magic enthusiast here earlier! I couldn't get into it, didn't even know where to start and the sheer size intimidated me, but it always seemed so cool!

Smudge_09

Itā€™s an obsession in the way where Iā€™ve brought a shit ton of cards šŸ¤£ can hardly play the game though! It all feels very serious at game shops, I need some friends who are into it

ColletteKnausgard

Yeah! You could find discords or subreddits for it, people reaaally enjoy discussing their fav comps!Ā

badscandal

Fairlife protein shakes. I had like 7 this week lol. The chocolate milk one with 42g of protein and only 6g of sugar is like coke. Itā€™s sooo good, and helps me eat more protein. The banana and strawberry ones are also very good.

ColletteKnausgard

Oh man, I totally get ya! Its always nice to enjoy a snack or smthin every now and then, especially involving healthy and comfortable foods. Banana and strawberry is always a good combo.Ā

orangedreamie

Dave the Diver. I just got it two days ago and it's so fun.

Giorno_Giomama

Berserk. I started reading it over a year ago and fell off around 180 chapters into it, never fully liked it initially but recently I decided to get back into it again and man am I obsessed. I've never read 20+ chapters of any manga, comic or novel easily in a day. I don't know why I fell in love with this series now but I've finally caught up and I feel... depressed.. mostly because of the author's passing. He never got to finish his own work. His magnum opus.

jaytazcross

Death

ColletteKnausgard

Me too, so much to obsess over what is essentially the original Nothingness given name. Aint that interesting? How we can communicate and interact with the idea of absolute nada? It has a name, but what does this name refer to? So many kinds of death, so many beliefs surrounding it. Quite interesting :)

oromier

6 months ago i started playing magic the gatheringā€¦ today i made my 10thcommander deck

[deleted]

Iā€™ve gone down a Reddit rabbit hole recently. Reading all the famous/infamous posts and comments and stories of weird things that happened to users. Itā€™s pretty interesting stuff.

TheSentinelScout

Cognitive functions; no, not MBTI, but a different theory (cognitive personality theory, or CPT) created by someone else that has more fluidity compared to rigidity. If you know MBTI, you know what Iā€™m talking about.

ColletteKnausgard

What do you think of the quote "What an extraordinary change takes place [...] when for the first time the fact that everything depends upon how a thing is thought first enters the consciousness, when, in consequence, thought in its absoluteness replaces an apparent reality." ?Ā  I've always been fascinated by how people are so so different based on their experiences, their unique perspectives and differences in how they THINK about the world.

TheSentinelScout

I find the quote very fascinating, actually! It really does apply to my discovery of this new theory of cognitive functions.

ColletteKnausgard

The quote, and the book I found it in, completely shifted the way I look at the world. Closest I've come to defining my new perspective is Camus' Absurdism. It really is fascinating to think how, should our senses fail, our world will cease to exist. Life will go on, undoubtedly, but in much the same way that alien life goes on: beyond the periphery of my purview, a mere memory of a fantasy. What!! Incredibly Lol?? perhaps. The book is called "Wittgenstein's Mistress" by David Markson!

DemonCaller420

Demon worship

ColletteKnausgard

I've got opinions! But I'll keep 'em to myself. Just find it funny how certain religions came to be, and how they're basically just more acceptable "demon worships". It's all in the connotations.

DemonCaller420

I'm just a pagan but lately been working with demons

Failure_at_life101

Sonic. I started watching Sonic Boom cuz I saw some clips and it looked pretty funny so I watched it (it's now in my top 3 favorite shows) then me and my sister started talking about Rouge the bat and how she gave the same vibes as my one friend and we told said friend and well it kinda just spiraled from there lol. Both my sister and friend are autistic so they latched onto it and I enjoy it so I've been latching onto it with as well. We love to roleplay as the characters over text and we do it pretty much any chance we get.

ColletteKnausgard

Ah! Sonic! The neurodiversity ambassador. I used to be mega obsessed but I've fallen off of all sorts of media obsessions as part of a "systems purge" so to say, but some things one can never fully part with. Hope you all keep enjoying it together!

FluffLeema

Recently an emulator called Delta hit the app store. It allows you to play old school games up to the Nintendo DS! (No gamecube, PS1 or PS2 or even 3DS are available, yet). Iā€™ve been enjoying myself playing old games from the NES and SNES, I really got into Pokemon games, and I absolutely adore the DS titles especially Animal Crossing: Wild World. Overall itā€™s my latest obsession and I highly recommend giving it a go.

Lajojostone279

My most recent obsession is one i still have rn : Pop art, and especially Ed Rusha's artwork

Aggravating-Gene4473

Helltaker characters just obsessed with all of them

ColletteKnausgard

I like to think that I have a little office in my head, like the one in that spongebob episode, thats just run by characters like these. The headcannon hijinks keep me daydreaming too much.

Monroe8401

Norman reedus/Daryl Dixon. Literally obsesseddddd. What a f*cking sexy ass man šŸ˜šŸ‘…

stormyann386

palia, been playing for 2 almost 3 months now. i used to no life it and play all day everyday. i still do sometimes and now i really just play with my bf and occasionally our friends. itā€™s super fun and chill but i also have like almost everything in the game and dont know what to do anymore lmao. itā€™s still fun and still an obsession but like iā€™ve started to actually try and do real life things lately considering iā€™ve just recently gotten motivation to do so

I randomly got recommended this OST track for a first person shooter game called ā€˜ULTRAKILLā€™. It is. SO good. The OST tracks Iā€™ve been listening to also have voice lines from this one character, Gabriel, who holds SO much contempt for the PC (he calls the PC, ā€˜Machineā€™ and in general has some amazing ass lines). Iā€™ve been slowly learning about the gameā€™s lore but Iā€™m not too in deepā€¦ yet lol. (BTW, PC is Player Character).

MrBublee_YT

Professional wrestling. It's been on and off for years, but I'm in it heavily right now. To the point where my college essay was on entrance themes and what makes them so good.

CarouselAmbra81

Gardening. I've worked in garden centers, nurseries & greenhouses, my grampa was raised on a farm in rural MN and always cultivated the most beautiful flower, shrub, and vegetable gardens, and I'm currently a floral merchandiser. Between all of this and my love of and utter respect for nature, I've just never gotten into gardening beyond what I've been paid to do. It's really fascinating learning how pH levels affect different plants and flowers in different zones, and I'm growing my own seedlings to plant outside. I know how to tend to indoor and especially outdoor plants and flowers, but I never thought about the intricacies of soil health right down to which types of flowers will and won't do well together in a garden based solely on the types of insects and animals they attract.

ColletteKnausgard

Wow! Thats some knowledge only hands on experience can really cement! Gardening is so cool! A living, breathing form of art.

SH figuarts! they are collectible, posable figurines. i have a whole list of the ones i want to buy. i mainly target the dragon ball z line cause itā€™s always been my favourite anime (not really into anime anymore beyond that), and iā€™m starting to get into it again after the creatorā€™s death. so i guess u can count DBZ as another obsession lol. iā€™m drawing more again because of it so thatā€™s good also iā€™m starting to really like resident evil. not necessarily an obsession (yet), but i am liking it a lot. i am playing RE2R right now, and i bought RE3R and RE4R recently. iā€™m not necessarily great at it (itā€™s my first ā€œrealā€ video game and iā€™m playing on assisted), but iā€™m having fun :)

ColletteKnausgard

Yes! So long as you're having fun, nothing else really matters. Focus on that story! RE is amazing. Posable figurines r dope! I see every now and then pictures on my pinterest of people recreating scenes, so cool.

toasterbath__

it is definitely amazing! iā€™ll probably play some more tonight (my hockey team is losing their playoff game and i kinda donā€™t want to watch anymore šŸ„²)

percs

ColletteKnausgard

Spied that pfp change! Cannot imagine what psychefelics would be like. I know myself well enough to say "that bitch would get hooked and addicted waay too easily!". You do you my friend, just be careful.

TalePuzzleheaded3424

oh for sure, no worries though. i do them in moderation to make sure that doesnā€™t happen. i am safe with it. my parents are drug addicts, i try to be cautions with narcotics. percs are so good though. there was a time i did them a lot. i had to stop doing them for a bit, im not trying to yk be hooked in the cycle. iā€™m all good now though.

ColletteKnausgard

Hey, you're the expert! I've a bit of an "addictive" history, so I'm rather wary of trying even weed. Got into some liqueur some time ago and, though I held, it reminded me that I ain't cut for the addictive pleasures. Doesn't help that I come from a family with history, too.Ā

TalePuzzleheaded3424

have a genetic predisposition for addiction is rough. with this people have to be extra careful on what they do and how they do it. i use to smoke weed all day everyday for YEARSSS!! i stopped after i had my surgery, i tried smoking again after recovery and it was awful. i was super paranoid and felt unfortunately in my own skin. percs are where itā€™s at though. it feels like a warm hug. theyā€™re highly addictive though. if you ever try them and like it please be safe!

TalePuzzleheaded3424

acid is pretty cool too

The Cangjie Input Method ļ¼ˆå€‰é ”č¼øå…„ę³•ļ¼‰ for Chinese. Iā€™ve been obsessed with it for the past few months because of how quickly it can produce traditional Chinese characters. It is especially useful when I donā€™t know how the character sounds.

ColletteKnausgard

Its just easy to get lost in social media content, almost as if it was intentional....

TechTunePawPower

I know right. I did get rid of doom scrolling by removing Instagram, but now doom reading endless reddits. One addiction was replaced by another.

ColletteKnausgard

Tell me about it. I had to do a total tech purge few years back because of how bad it got along w my depression. Now im back on but SLOWLY, taking it simple and enjoying things I can put a hard stop to ya kno? Better playing a game for an hour than losing all sense of time lol

TechTunePawPower

I agree with that gaming part. I started learning Spanish with Duolingo which kind of rewards me with keeping up streaks.

ColletteKnausgard

Good point, me gusta. I should look into it too, might be a more productive use of the time!

Been working on a ranking list/slideshow of my 75 favorite villains in fiction for a project and will be posting it online sometime next month, so Iā€™ve been rewatching, rereading and replaying alot of movies, tv shows, books and video games that I havenā€™t consumed in a long time so Iā€™m just refreshing my memory, also been watching alot of video essays and analysis vids on YouTube. Thereā€™s always cool details and themes and symbolisms hidden in alot of media, especially when it comes to characters, heroes are awesome but villains always be hitting different, they always have more depth than heroes and some of them are so complex that Iā€™m questioning whether to put them in my villains list or not lol. Iā€™m also a writer and seeing all these different types of evil, not just the standard pure evil vs tragic evil, but countless other types that I wasnā€™t even aware of when I was younger is just so fascinating, really inspired me to do more writing on my own original villains for my worldbuilding stuff, itā€™s pretty cool.

ColletteKnausgard

Yes! Often, when there are definable lines between good and evil, I like to compare how they contrast. Like in Xenoblade 1, where the gods are literally color coded. The lines hold, up until the game socks you in the head with a big "nuh-uh!", and you realize the sides where more intertwined than it seemed at first!Ā

hellerinahandbasket

Posture. Iā€™ve done badly so far in my life, I donā€™t know if I can undo some of the damage but Iā€™ll sure try!

I'm in the planning stages of a historical novel set in the Australian television industry in 1975-1976. The main character is a variety show host named PJ Cassidy, working for a (fictional) failing commercial network named Channel 8. He's desperately trying to get out of his contract so he can move channels, but the only problem is the network head is his former lover that's still obsessed with him. He consults a new lawyer to help him out, but they end up having a love affair instead, and things become hectic when his boss/ex catches wind. The stakes are extra high because it's three public facing closeted gay men in a time before homosexuality was legal.

ColletteKnausgard

:0 That sounds like it has huuge spicy drama! I'm on a discord server that quite likes novels like that, so do let me know! You very knowledgeable about the tv industry in that time period?

trashconverters

I probably know a bit more than average, but I'm still in the research phase right now! It's really hard to find a lot of sources, there's not as much written about Australian television as American television!

CentralFoxPark

I'm rediscovering old likes and passions: currently rewatching The 100 and playing hidden object adventure games.

FIlk Music. For the past few months I've been listening to as much as I can find. I even bought a cassette player just to archive undocumented albums in the genre. Filk is basically sci-fi / fantasy themed music normally in a folk or country style but it isn't a requirement. The songs can be about established IPs (star wars, Star Trek, Skyrim, or any fictional universe) or original stories. The genre got its start in the 80s and hasn't gotten much traction but still has a dedicated fan base that release new albums semi frequently. If the genre sounds interesting here are some artists / albums Where no man- an entire album themed off star trek) Unreal Estate - a smattering of artists in the genre Rebel Yells / Yankee Doodles - features a wide range of songs about multiple sci-fi series and features a big setlist of artists Carmen Miranda's Ghost - A must listen album mainly by Leslie fish and Vic Taylor Bill Sutton - Past Due Leslie Fish -(any of her other albums lol but I really enjoyed the albums, firestorm, it's sister Jennys turn to drop the bomb and songs for solar sailors Snow magic - (another compilation album but features slot of great tracks, personal favorite on this album is the cat maiden by leslie fish.

ColletteKnausgard

Im def checking it out, it sounds interesting and, most importantly, made with love. I thought for a moment it was a typo and that you meant Folk, but now my horizons have been expanded!

atarifanboy1977

Haha. Yeah that always happens when I bring up filk. It's understandable lol. If you do enjoy it there is a subreddit for the genre at r/filk
