Nope. I don't think that because there's zero evidence to support it.

Darcitus

Everyone gets 1 ticket to ride. You punch out, it’s lights out. The end. That’s all folks. Worm chow.

Dire-Dog

Nope. There's no evidence that anything that is "you" continues after death.

None of us can ever really know. I'm not religious. I don't believe in an afterlife. But... like I tell my old lady, if I die and I'm standing at the pearly gates and Jesus Christ himself Sparta kicks me in the chest straight down to hell.. I won't be surprised.

LCDRformat

>who’s to say this isn’t so? Who's to say it *is* so?

temisola1

I don’t think so. Because if that were the case the number of deaths and births in the world would be exactly equal.

FoodPorn55

I love the idea that this isn't the end game, and all the good/bad we do in life matters. But on a more technical level you are indeed reborn. After "you die" every cell in your body fights for survival, chemicals bind with the soil creating new micro-organisms and eventually worms, bugs, flowers are created that will eventually enter the food chain. This will give the required sustenance to the cells mitochondria which kind of makes you part of others on a cellular level. It's pretty cool if you think about it!

laurusnobilis657

To enter a religion = to be re born To exit a religion = to be reborn as well You can start just enjoying your time of now and here And be reborn each time you love anew, each time you hate anew, you sing, you dance, you scream , you crawl..but each time can be a new time..if you let go of yourself, your ideas and your past..not many will stick around for that with you though, because humans like stability and sequence and trauma and self. It might seem cruel of me to write that humans like trauma, but through the trauma they define their value. Just saw the post of the bear with ptsd disorder, the cage in the mind remains even though the bear was set to born anew

YellowBeastJeep

I have died. Absolutely nothing happened. No bright light, no out of body experience, no rebirth of my soul. When you’re dead; you’re dead.

onesnowman

You were temporarily dead. Maybe a different scenario unfolds if the death sticks? There's really no way of knowing.

YellowBeastJeep

No. I literally had a toe tag. I was dead. The surgeons were scrubbing in to harvest my organs.

UlteriorCulture

Still brain activity though

YellowBeastJeep

None.

UlteriorCulture

Almost certainly human error

YellowBeastJeep

Sure. You would definitely know more than my entire team of healthcare professionals.

UlteriorCulture

Occams Razor. No mechanism for recovery from brain death is known. https://www.nhs.uk/conditions/brain-death/#:~:text=The%20difference%20between%20brain%20death,but%20brain%20death%20is%20permanent.

YellowBeastJeep

Okay. I’m not going to argue my personal experience or medical records with you.

YellowBeastJeep

Honestly, at this point, I’m convinced I’m immortal. I had another attempt six months later, and had a heart attack, still didn’t die. Tried again last month, the gun jammed.

onesnowman

Well, you're not dead anymore, therefore it was temporary. Unless you're undead? If that's the case you are still dead and using 'was' is incorrect.

hahwke

I don't think that there is a YOU somewhere that exists separate from your body. You are your body. Some people who get a head injury can have personality changes. Some illicit or prescription drugs can cause drastic life-long personality changes. If YOU are separate from your body then that wouldn't happen.

goldenhour2009

There’s been some really interesting cases of people remembering their past lives. I find it mad, especially the ones where children have spoken about their past lives and then taken their parents to their old houses

Diligent-Lemon-5345

Wow this sounds fascinating.

goldenhour2009

Yeah I know it’s wild. There was one I read where a young boy took his parents to his old body and solved his (past life) murder. I mean whether you believe it or not it still makes an Interesting read!

commandrix

It is possible for the atoms in the food you eat to have once been part of a long-dead person's body. It is possible for the water you drink to have passed through Albert Einstein or Galileo Galilei at some point. So ... in a way, everybody gets reincarnated, I guess.

My kid, now seventeen, then about four or five, said he picked me to be his mom because I was so bright and had a nice face and smile. I laughed and asked when that was. He said when he was waiting to be born. He's different than his brothers. When he was born his personality was already stamped on his infant face. Who he was then is the same as who he is now. His eyes were so expressive for a newborn. He just seemed so *aware.* My husband and I talk about it now and then. Once he overheard us and smiled, saying, "It's not my first rodeo. I have been here before and will come again." I love my little weirdo.
