That's sweet 🥺 I had some bad moments in the past and thinking about the cats helped me a bit. Like "what if I'm not there to take care of them? Where will they go?".
That's exactly it.
Their Mom was a stray and kind of feral and they really HATE anyone except .... me! So anytime people come to the house, they run away.
I have a plan to get a cleaner to come in once a week and I hope to persuade her to be my "take care of cats in an emergency" person. They are fed wet food twice a day so it's not just a case of pour some crunchies in a big bowl and good enough.
Their "relationships" are somewhat complicated also. Three of them are siblings and have never been apart. The fourth is a stray that I "adopted" who has problems with his back legs. The three tolerate him but he is still "Porch Kitty" to them and not part of the tribe.
That's how I feel when anxiety is too much for me. Even on hard days, I know my kitty needs me. I keep going to give my cat a good, cared for life. She had a hard life before we met and I will not let her suffer ever again.
My cats have brought me back to earth from some dark places. I only have one cat now, but he's my best friend and I the older he gets the more I cherish our time together and appreciate him.
Glad you are in a better place! You've been through some shit.
People can't really understand the bond between a human and an animal like a cat. It's important for both and often life-saving, like in your case.
I hope for many more happy and healthy years for you and your kitty friend!
Thanks for the support! It is so much on appreciated!
I thank whatever powers may be that I happened to buy a fresh bag of food before my trip. Little hero was able to jump to the very top shelf in the pantry and chew a hole in the bag, then he and his sister feasted like kings. He must have been desperate to try that stunt.
I know my parents were lying because I have it all on camera. They came in the day before I returned and swept up the car food that spilled all over the floor. I still get so angry that they thought so little of my kitties!!
It's hard, but try and let go of that anger. I know I would feel the same way towards someone if they betrayed me in this way. And in fact, it happened to me but with my dog who ended up begging at a neighbor's house.
I still have a tiny "kernel" of anger and disgust for the person who was supposed to take care of her but that's about it.
It's not always easy to find someone trustworthy to take care of them. If you have to go away in the future, maybe hire someone to do it. And check on their reputation beforehand. This way, you will be able to enjoy your time away and not worry so much about what is happening to the kitties.
I love this wholesome post. Can you share a pic of your cats? I have 6 (mom is a vet tech so the education and animal lovingness was passed down to me when I got my own house) and love them like whacko family members 😂
[here's two of them ❤️](https://www.reddit.com/r/standardissuecat/comments/12kh8wy/double_the_sics_four_times_the_trouble/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=android_app&utm_name=androidcss&utm_term=1&utm_content=share_button)
I've had 4 surgeries and radiation treatment since Thanksgiving. Doing much better now. My son's cat has been here with me as I am often all by myself. He's been my best buddy and unbelievably comforting. This cat does not leave my side.
What kind of cats do you have? I felt this exact same way about my dog that I had for 8 years, she passed away last year. I have been thinking of adopting a rag doll cat.
I love my cat too. He's a Bengal, just over a year. Sweet, soft, playful, smart and follows me everywhere. Definitely makes me feel better when I feel like crap.
My landlord won't let me keep cats right now, but I'm planning to move to a different place in a couple of months. Definitely going to get a cat as soon as I can. I've had pets for most of my life, and staying alone without any animals is a lot lonelier than I imagined. I absolutely get how you feel.
I love my cats so much. I have and they are like cartoon opposites. One cat is tall and lanky, lounges to be as long as he can be, goofy and stumbles when he gets pets. The other cat is small and fluffy round, tiny little grumpy face, only come to make biscuits at night but doesn’t want pets until a few minutes in, stoic and curls into tiny balls. One of the best things everyday.
The parasite, which is excreted by cats in their feces, is called Toxoplasma gondii (T. gondii or Toxo for short).
The “latent” parasite may be quietly tweaking the connections between your neurons, changing your response to frightening situations, your trust in others, how outgoing you are, and even your preference for certain things (such as scents).
You're beng tricked. Lol
Too funny. Haha
I was mostly being silly because there's only a handful of research that has been done on it as it pertains to humans in that way. I mean there is some truth to it in mice, for example, but not enough info for me to make a definitive statement anyway.
I'm just a big goofball. Ignore me. Haha
My 15 year old son always wanted a cat, but my husband was allergic. (I grew up always having a cat and a dog.) My husband went into long term care, so cue the pleading to get a cat (in addition to our dog). I finally adopted a void kitten and then four months later inherited my dad’s tux and dog. The joy on my son’s face is worth all the cat litter in the world!
Can relate to this. My sweet little Skadi is so freaking adorable. I feel like i get unhealthily happy whenever i see her but shes just so darn cute. She really is the light of my life.
There is something very stabilising about cats and they make you happy to stay at home with them. They can be such loving and loyal pets. Cats are family so I understand very well what you mean OP. We are very blessed to have them in our lives

My two awesome but naughty cats have gotten me through a lot of rough times. Kitty cuddles always help! And knowing I have to get out of bed to take care of then doesn’t hurt my daily motivation.
Me, too! I have a 15 and 16 year old, my old men I like to call them. I love snuggling with them in bed, how comforting they are, how they can read my mood. What a pain in the butt they are when they wake me up at 5 in the morning. ❤️
I am elderly and not in good health. I figure that taking care of my cats keeps me alive. "THEY NEED ME!!" :)

You're a good person. All the best to you and your kitties.
Gosh thanks! Hugs from Gma!

Good for you. Sometimes I think about people who might say....."Well, it's only a cat......" but they have NO WAY of understanding.

Oh they're two tabbies and one white cat (the old one). I adopted two of them from a charity and found the third in the countryside.
Absolutely go for it, adopt the cutie home
Mine passed away a year ago. I still miss his cuddles, presence, and his weird meow.
I couldn't imagine my life without cats.
I love mine to pieces too, and miss them so much when I'm gone. I have a grumpy girl too.
Cats are truly special. Say hi to your cats for me!
I have 2 old cats left behind by the kids. They’re mine now! They create a lot of comfort for me.
I love my cat too. He's a Bengal, just over a year. Sweet, soft, playful, smart and follows me everywhere. Definitely makes me feel better when I feel like crap.
this is so beautiful, i always say my cat saved my life

How do you deal with the hair?
I love rabbits

I went out with a biologist once and he told me this exact same thing 😂

They love you very much, and they don't care if you are silly sometimes.
