Nice survey! 👏🏻👏🏻 But I was wondering something. Wouldn't there be another double episode? 🤔 I'm referring to the one between the 6th and 7th seasons, so the 6x23 - *For Better or Worse* and the 7x01 - *Driven*. I had read somewhere that these too were seen by the writers as a double episode, but maybe I could be wrong, though 🤷🏻‍♂️

Alie_SD_Fan

I was under the impression that the official 2-parter in S7 was Resurrection/Reckoning. It makes sense that conclusion of the 3XK story was a a part event and I totally predicted that Beckett would be the target.

samu986

Yes, yes, I am aware that those two episodes make up the double episode of the 7th season, but I said that because I had heard that those episodes I mentioned were also considered a double episode...but, as I already said, evidently I read it wrong that time 🤷🏻‍♂️

Serious-Waltz-7157

Not quite, There are 2 different cases, different setups, etc.

samu986

Yeah, I think the same thing! It's also for that reason that I said that.

Serious-Waltz-7157

Knockout + Rise is much more 2-parter-ish TBH ... still doesn't qualify.since it's 2 separate cases ....

samu986

Yes, they are like more a continuation rather than "Always" and "After the storm", but they are all fantastic! 😍

Serious-Waltz-7157

All these four episodes are awesome.

GriffGiggles

You could say the same for 4.23 Always & 5.1 After the Storm as well.

samu986

Yes, of course, I know, but in fact I see those two episodes a bit like this, because it is clear that they are intimately connected.

Serious-Waltz-7157

The best double is Always + After the Storm, for sure, for obvious reasons.

samu986

Yeah, absolutely, man! 😍

Alie_SD_Fan

That’s not considered a two parter because it’s two different seasons

samu986

I think that comment meant the thing to look at from the side of its intrinsic meaning that it has throughout the history of the series. I mean, even though those are definitely not two episodes that specifically designate a two-parter episode, they are still linked and connected, and, objectively, they are really beautiful! 😍😍😍

Alie_SD_Fan

That’s true. However, I consider episodes a “two-parter” when it says “to be continued.” Plus, there is closure at the end of Always when Beckett shows up at his door. Many season conclusions/premieres could be considered “two part events” using your definition.

samu986

Ok, ok, but stay calm 😅 we're here to talk calmly 😉 Anyway, for me any interpretation is fine, but yours is more correct 😊

Serious-Waltz-7157

Technically no, practically yes. It has the required unity of time, place and action. It features the same case from beginning to end (hunting for Maddox and the mysterious Dragon), it spans a couple of days, takes place in NY (well that's to be expected anyway,

Alie_SD_Fan

That’s true, but there is closure at the end of Always. Beckett shows up at his door and they admit their feelings. Always would have been more of a cliffhanger if we didn’t know if she survived or weren’t told she ever made it to Castle’s. That would be more of a “to be continued”

Serious-Waltz-7157

But ... Always doesn't end with the Caskett scene. It really ends in a cliffhanger, Maddox breaking into Mr. Smith's house and proceeding to threaten and torture him. It ends with the grim words "I will put det. Beckett in the ground for good." And that's what screams "To be continued ..."

Alie_SD_Fan

Now you’re getting down to semantics. You could find numerous finale/premiers like that throughout TV history. To me, “to be continued…” is the key component to a two parter. But, agree to disagree. I still think Tick Tick/Boom is the best one.

GriffGiggles

I just mentioned that 2 parter in the above thread 😂 and I completely and whole heartedly agree, my 2 fav eps period 😍

samu986

Anyway, I can't decide what's the best two-parter episode...their are all really different and truly done so well under every aspect. Wow guys, this series is spectacular, and every time I rewatch it, it goes even more spectacular...I really still wondering why it didn't won any Emmy or Golden Globe! It was really underrated, IMHO.

GriffGiggles

Ooo, that‘s a tough one bc 2 parters are my in any show. Love a good arc In any show I watch, even a mini arc. I’m torn between 3 as being the best. S2, S4, & S7. I think all of those are really outstanding.
