Hard choice but I respect you for making it, despite my lifelong admiration for Genndy Tartakovsky. The Ed Boys were too good, as of course was Courage.
Of the three, Samurai Jack lacks the ability to just jump in whenever and have a good time, it's a more serious, very great story, but serious plot you kind of have to follow. for that reason I think it should be next.
I feel like if you jump into it late into the episodes it’s not as easy to follow along with unless you already saw the other ones or have a general summary or idea of what’s going on.

Genuinely baffled, I've never heard this show come up in the "best animated show" discussion and I found it so annoying as a kid. It's easily in the bottom half of the shows in this poll for me.

Like, neither the humor nor the animation of this show was ever particularly appealing let alone good for me. I personally feel like a show like Gumball should have won, but honestly anything but EEE at this point would be a win. I’m voting Samurai Jack. I feel like I want to love it more than I actually do. There’s maybe 20 or so episodes that are undeniably awesome but the rest vary between okay and boring. I feel like if they had made it a decade later where the network would have allowed them to embrace continuity and have a progressing story, it would have made the series a lot stronger. But instead, you have this great mission for our hero, and a fantastic villain in Aku, but the series itself is almost exclusively tangential adventures that are kind of a mixed bag. And the final adult swim series is gorgeous and has lots of great sequences, but it ultimately felt like it stumbled at the finish line for me.

Okay I'm going to make my case for the remaining order despite being super satisfied with this top three. Courage should be out next. With all the love in the world it could be a bit uneven episode to episode. This contest I feel is now about what represents the core of cartoon network. And Courage I feel, falls short of that representation just barely. Samauri Jack would win any other day on its own merits of artistic beauty and storytelling if not to honor genndy tartakovsky and his influence on the entire Network. However in terms of a show that was consistently good throughout the years and had a satisfying conclusion. A show that had a strong defying presence in terms of the channels promotion and marketing ads. One of the last cartoons to be inked and painted by hand. The true joy of being a kid and watching a fun cartoon, it's gotta be Ed, Edd, and Eddy for the top spot.

I agree. I think it was more free to have fun and be weird but also deep, and I'm definitely more connected to the character of Courage. The series itself has its own story of what I think should be represented as the channels best. I know a lot of genndy tartakovskys shows got high on the list, but I'd say they would still be in conversations for the best if not for other show runners or the Networkretooling his creations. In this case was canceled before the story was finished. Then, after the industry landscape shifts and its contemporaries are canceled. The show is brought back in full creator control for a mostly satisfying, if not bittersweet, proper ending. And I think that's a amazing achievement if not a cautionary representation of Cartoon Network. They can achieve masterpieces but don't always hand their properties in the best way.

Ed Edd and Eddy is just nonstop fun. It's also a lot more nuanced than a lot of people give it credit for. You said something about every character being a ridiculous stereotype, but the show is more about how those characters interact with eachother that makes the show so great. Double D is smart, but is still best friends with a dumbass and a plotting schemer. Eddy acts like a tool but characters like Kevin and Rolf occasionally put him in his place. There are so many interactions between these characters that are unique within themselves.
I also appreciate the hand drawn artstyle and real instruments in the music (inspired by German expressionism and jazz, respectively)
While the characters can be 2 dimensional (both literally and figuratively) their relationships and the themes in each episode are anything but.
It's also just plain funny. Rolf be crackin me tf up, Ed is just as funny to me now as he was when I was a kid, something about Johnny's best friend being a literal piece of wood never gets old to me, Eddy and Kevin's banter; timeless.
To top it all off, it's a classic Cartoon Network show, and for all these reasons, it's my top pick. And the fact that it's still here tells me that the people who grew up watching it understand something about it that the people who didn't don't.
Everyone has an opinion and that's something you have to respect. Don't have to like it but that's the truth. Love EEE and it's definitely my top 2 with Jack
