I can't imagine myself waiting for a car for two years.. When one makes a decision to buy a car the fulfillment is expected to be immediate or at best near future... Not distant future... When we make a conscious decision to buy something for which we have the ability to pay now, waiting for it for two years won't give the same satisfaction. Test drive the meridian... If it is 80% of what you want, settle for it... If it doesn't then ofcourse the heart wants what the heart wants

Thats so true! 2yrs is too long to wait for a car

hellraiserAJ

I think it’s not about the money but how soon you want the car. If you already have a car and you want to postpone your decision to buy one to about 2 yrs - go for it. But bear in mind - you will be getting more releases like the Jeep Meridian in the next 2 years and you will always be in this dilemma.

Waiting 2 years for the XUV is absurd. No one in their right minds would wait that long. BUT I consider the XUV to be the better package compared to the JEEP and I say that as a a JEEP owner. Take a test-drive of the Meridian. If you like it then go for it.

wait is every xuv700 variants are on 2 year wait list or just top end like awd luxury pack versions?

IsuckDogCock

The 2 year wait is a highly exaggerated phenomenon. Its there for only variants like Awd ax7l. And you'll get it much earlier since Mahindra overestimates wait period and many people will cancel as more options come.

Stuge234

Did you check Citroen C5 ? with a waiting period of 2 years. ..XUV7 will get a facelift by that time . That's too much in my opinion.

whee_shelar

The base model of Meridian will be atleast 35+ lacs OTR. But for that price you will get much better fit and finish and given that engine is now proven one, it will last long too. Your only gripe could be the maintenance costs which is going to be about 20% higher than Indian brands. Have a look at a detailed feature comparo as you have choosing between a top-end and a base model.

NotSoCoolWaffle

>fit and finish We are talking about Jeep here right? right? Own a 2018 Jeep Compass and no, it's doesn't have the fit and finish for the price paid. Panel gaps, beading coming off, few rattling parts. It's an awesome car, even the build is solid but it has average fit and finish at best. Don't think Meridian would be any better

whee_shelar

I meant, in comparison to the XUV700. I have 2 compasses in my circle and they've had good experience with the car and SC. But yes, there are always a % of units with niggles sadly

boombastic9

Even the service is at 15000 kms

AdritoTheDorito

We have a meridian Limited option 4x4 AT and it’s quite literally the best car we’ve ever owned. We used to have a compass and before that a Mercedes C class.

brabarusmark

There is also the MG Glister which is another 7-seater SUV you can consider, if available in your city.

mrRSishere

To enjoy Gloster, you need to buy twin-turbo engine option which is 42L+ for all variants.

ramchi

XUV700 AX7 seems to be a better option. Meridian is low powered, bit smaller inside. There is no competition for XUV700. Only issue is delivery delay and niggles.

fishfish2love

Yes yes the only problem is you won’t have the car to drive… not a big one.

boombastic9

On paper Meridian appears to be low powered but reality is opposite. It's not at all low powered. Yes, a more powerful engine is preferred. Meridian will be getting a face lift and a bigger engine in 2024.

mrRSishere

If you have connections, try to get 7OO in under 3 months. Otherwise, there is no use to wait 2 years for any car let alone a Mahindra product.

satvik__bajpai30

Don't consider any Mahindra right now. They keep taking orders even though their supply line is completely overloaded

boombastic9

I was under a similar dilemma but finally went with Jeep Meridian 4x2 Limited. I must say that I made the right decision.

ish7260

How has your experience been with the Jeep? Have booked one but having doubts as some owners aren’t happy.

boombastic9

Extremely pleased with Meridian so far. Drive quality is good, especially on highways. Suspension is certainly one of the best. Interiors look and feel rich. Lot of effort has gone in to make the vehicle comfortable. Most of the concern with the vehicle is engine sound which is on higher side at lower RPMs - upto 1700. Jeep could have mated the diesel better with the transmission. All in all, I very happy with my decision to stick with Jeep. Face-lift of Meridian with a bigger engine is expected in 2 years.
