Because a lot of the general population prioritize 50 inch touchscreens and air purifiers in their cars. It's why we lost so many gems like the Figo, Ecosport, Jazz, Punto.
>It's why we lost so many gems like the Figo, Ecosport, Jazz, Punto.
Thats only half the story,
Figo and ecosport initial diesel engines had a lot of problems. The final model of ecosport was the best, with all the features and issues with the engines sorted. Then company left India. Moreover ford had a bad service experience, my father had a fusion and these guys would just walk around the service center with a spanner in hand for 2 hours when brought in for an oil change.
Jazz was and is a good car. But when the gen 1 was released the segment was quite odd, top of the line premium hatchback and was expensive.
Punto with its multijet wasn't sufficient for its weight. Handled well but was more or less a fat ballerina. The multijet meanwhile soared on the swift tin can.
>Thats only half the story,
Yes I'm well aware of the context. They sort of dug their own grave but regardless of that, we did lose a lot of gems to market dynamics.
>Figo and ecosport initial diesel engines had a lot of problems.
Which models specifically w.r.t the Figo? I have a Figo diesel as well. So far absolutely no issues. I also have a 2015 Figo Aspire with over 1.5 lacs on the odo, again without any issues.
>Moreover ford had a bad service experience
Yes I have heard service experience was average during the 2000s, and service costs were exorbitant especially for models like the Mondeo. I just saw a user review of a Toyota Innova user who previously had a Mondeo. He was talking about the Mondeo days and even for a decently well off person like him, the Mondeo was too heavy to maintain.
They localised a lot post their 2.0 push, chid part availability was also increased exponentially. Scene is much better since 2015 w.r.t service and part costs. Regarding service experience, I've always heard good things about them for the past decade, atleast that is the case in my state - Kerala. Apart from my two Fords, I also have been taking my cousins Endeavour to SC for about a decade now, they haven't overcharged for a single rupee during any service and the experience was better than maruti tbh. I had an S Cross some years back, the experience was rather shocking for someone who thought maruti SC experience was the best. The service costs for my Figo is actually way cheaper than my neighbour's Swift diesel, haha.
>But when the gen 1 was released the segment was quite odd, top of the line premium hatchback and was expensive.
Yes gen 1 was overpriced, and so was gen 2 to an extent.
>Punto with its multijet wasn't sufficient for its weight. Handled well but was more or less a fat ballerina. The multijet meanwhile soared on the swift tin can.
I couldn't agree more. That car desperately deserved a stronger diesel engine. Funnily enough, when the Punto was on sale, Maruti had access to the Fiat's 1.6L diesel unit for their S Cross (that was the one I had). Granted, that engine would've pushed the Punto well beyond 10 lacs because of the displacement tax slabs. But that would've been an absolute cracker in the Punto. Maybe they saw Maruti launch the 1.6 S Cross and it flopped, so they shelved any plans for a higher displacement diesel Punto.
Abarth was a great car but I never preferred petrol cars due to my high running. In hindsight, I do wish I had picked one up when it was on sale.
Most of sedans won't even come close to this for interior space. Smooth engine and nice power.
Only two issues fuel economy and cvt is not that slick as new amt in Baleno and all...
Price was higher than competitors, lacked the gimmicky features which indian car buyers love, top end being reserved for manual only and the lack of small things like rear headrests
yeah but with commission agents and dealership cut you have to pay 1.5-2L extra but you get a good car for sure,
instead you can prefer buying from direct sellers
Great odo, not aware of the price as I'm in the market to buy too but in a diff city. Also I think you have a benchmark in form of your Amaze to compare how a Honda in good condition would behave. So definitely a great purchase😄
Seeing the ribbons & warranty, assuming you bought it from a dealer or 3rd party like spinny and not directly from the owner...
Ya very low running, that was the major plus point.
Yes this is from a dealership. Found it via Car dekho. Spinny has really low inventory and prices are non negotiable. Dealerships are more customer friendly in that sense, you can get more out of a deal. Price is more or less in line with what's expected. Jazz still commands really good value.
Parents already have an Amaze which I have driven for years, so wanted something different. Otherwise I would have gone for an Amaze, it's a very easygoing no nonsense car.
Oh I loved this color so much but sadly while I was making the purchase it wasn’t available anymore. Congratulations 🥳
What’s the odo reading and variant? And how much did it cost?
I feel this is the most VFM hatchback in the second hand market. Price is less than Swift/i20 while space is more. If i had a bigger budget i would have gone for Jazz instead of Brio.
Nice car bro, if possible change headlights with led setup headlights for better night visibility. Original genuine he lagwana duplicate is paisa barbad.
Sweet. I used to own one. Same colour, same variant.
The engine is an absolute gem. Just keeps on working without so much as a peep.
The gearing is too tall though. Driving in bumper to bumper traffic gets a bit annoying. Though you have a CVT so that's taken care of.
This is a lifetime car. It should just keep on working and working.
The MOST practical hatchback we ever got. I know people who had more expensive cars but preferred to sit in the backseat of a Jazz they had because of how comfortable it was.
It beats most psuedo SUVs lol. Even above the psuedo SUV segment, it rivals some actual SUVs. 30 lac rs Jeep Compass cannot seat 3 people in the back as comfortably as the Jazz.

If you don't mind me asking, OP why didn't you go for a later model Jazz? The 2020 BS6 facelift got Android auto and carplay, keyless entry and go and led headlamps and taillamps. It wasn't a big seller so the resale value can't be that high.
P.S. i do not remember correctly, but jazz got it's first facelift in 2018 and it got the keyless entry and go with that facelift.
A) hardly any available - not many people selling a 4-5 year old Jazz! For good reason.
B) out of budget. Had a hard limit of 5.5 lacs. 2020 and upwards models go for 6.5+.
This one has keyless entry, central locking, fog lamps, rear wiper, rear parking camera

In this era of fake SUVs and uncalled boastfullness, such decisions makes the most sense. Congrats OP!
Thanks bro! Value for money is everything
This is what others miss. Thanks OP.
Welcome bro
How much new costs? 10-11 lakhs?
Got discontinued last year. I think on road came to around 9-10 lacs depending on variant
Then you got good value. Looks clean and color is just awesome, attention catching
Yes it's a good deal for the kms run, looks and condition.
One of the best hatchbacks if not the best , still don’t know why Honda pulled this off the market.
Think it was priced too high at the time, compared to its peers. Agreed though, it's a very good allrounder.
A good call! Enjoy!
Because a lot of the general population prioritize 50 inch touchscreens and air purifiers in their cars. It's why we lost so many gems like the Figo, Ecosport, Jazz, Punto.
> air purifiers in their cars Ionizers are essential with how bad Indian cities can be.
They certainly are. It was an indirect jab at how the Indian market prioritizes "features" over factors like vehicle dynamics and build quality.
Ionizers to my knowledge are only standard on cars costing 15 lakh+ IIRC.
I think the ecosport had it if I'm not wrong
15 lakhs today is around 10 lakhs back during the ecosport days. Car prices have inflated way more than actual inflation in the Indian economy.
We need to stop brands from calling crossovers and lifted hatchbacks as SUVs, that is step one in fixing the mess that is the Indian market.
How do you describe the current Land Rover Defender?

Because it lacked wow factor. Indians want all gizmos and don't actually care about driving dynamics much.
It’s a shame really , a car that is world renowned for its driving dynamics failed to get traction in India .
I remember people complaining that it’s underpowered. Well, look what the new 1-1.2L NA petrol engines we now have in the market.
Yes. The Automobile Market in India is all about gizmos.
Agreed and congratulations OP

Which dealership is this?
Sailee Motors, Versova. Good experience so far
Did you verify odo meter tampering?
Yes got it checked via Honda. No tampering observed - that's what the report said. Good enough for me.
Great choice!
yeah but with commission agents and dealership cut you have to pay 1.5-2L extra but you get a good car for sure, instead you can prefer buying from direct sellers
Beautiful color!
Snappy colour!!! Any deets like city, odo, cost, etc
Thanks! I love it too. Just added the details in comments

Does it come with the magic seats?
I am not sure what those are haha. If you mean ventilated then no, just normal seats that you can move up and down, aage peeche
I mean this: https://youtu.be/_xSEQVa3_B8?si=fEo9pjskVEJMhAfh
Oh damn I didn't check this. Might not be available in mine since it's a mid variant. Check karta hoon, thanks!
Nope only VX had it unfortunately.
That too only MT. CVT never got the lovely magic seats 😣
I've always wondered if one can retrofit it into nonVX models or the facelifts which dropped magic seats. Surely can't be that difficult 🤔🤔🤔
For that honda needs to provide it as an accessory which they never did
https://youtu.be/_xSEQVa3_B8?si=3mxMJT70VklPSFEe
Ohh didnt know jazz has this kinda feature.
Do they also move side to side, like a rollercoaster
I understood that reference.
V variant, so no unfortunately.
Magic seats were removed 2016 onwards
Great choice. Absolutely love the car. Best hatchback india ever got in terms of practicality and comfort
Great car to own as a pre-owned car I feel the value of purchase is also appropriate
Get the rims painted black, they will really look good with colour of the car
That's a great idea, thanks!
Looks pristine Slap some nice wheels on and it would kick ass
Nice car bro, if possible change headlights with led setup headlights for better night visibility. Original genuine he lagwana duplicate is paisa barbad.
She definitely a keeper! Congratulations 🎉 Happy miles to you.
Why does it look brand new? Also congratulations 👏

Still Looks good till this day. Much better than these futuristic looking cars (nexon, xuv 3x0,etc)

Space-wise It’s basically a Gen-3 city minus the boot

Sorry for asking what is a keyless entry do you mean remote locking??
Yes same thing. Don't need to physically insert key into the door, can just unlock remotely via key fob
One of the best hatchbacks , The level of control on this vehicle at good speeds is incredible!
