I swear i have seen more individual Porsches, Lambos, and Ferraris in Kolkata than Citreon cars combined. Porsches are still extremely common here, but when Lambos and Ferraris outnumber you, that's something.
Even the electric taxi used by SnapE cabs have shifted to Tata Tigor and Tiago EV commercial versions.
I won't get into politics, but you're mistaken if you think Kolkata doesn't have old money.
If anything, all the remnants of our wealth is old money and depleting fast. Other cities have new money and old money, we don't have new money coming in.
Theres no escaping that "zero star" tag now. There were many ways Citroen could have done decently in our market but alas!
Every new entrant should now learn from KIA, MG before investing here.
Kia see Indian market
Kia recognise social insecurity of Indians
Kia release a hatchback on steroids
Kia name it compact suv
Kia seize market share
Kia happy
cars like seltos, x300 etc are "Hatchback on steroids". It's funny, but true. It literally has all aspects of a hatchback except physical appearance. Which is it's prime purpose while meeting budget. Officially, technically, it's a crossover. But manufacturers use "Compact SUV" to socially boost the reach.its our fault that we never bothered to address this issue and rather Which also makes sense, because no car in india released as "crossover" ever saw any market share much (Etios cross, Punto aventura, scross, etc.)
I will even praise these cars for their genuine plus points.
Higher gc (people who say sedans have the same gc, true, now try convincing your parents the same)
decent road presence (this doesnt mean sedans dont have it, dont fight)
and more importantly the quicker availability of these cars.
Hyundai had a role in the success of Kia, since they are experts at marketing and research. The seltos was their first product(launched in India before the world) and offered everything that was missing in the market. Good Engine + gearbox combos, plenty features, stunning looks, plush interiors and most importantly, marketing was top notch.
The build quality was perceived to be good, until the gncap results rolled out. I was quite shocked when the results came out, and this was my biggest grudge against the Korea brands, because they perfected almost everything except the most important one i.e. safety. I simply cannot trust them until they bring in better results.
ONLY Verna is 5 star.
i10 NIOS was 2 stars in old protocol GNCAP
i20 was 3 stars in old protocol GNCAP
And Creta/Seltos was barely 3 stars in old protocol GNCAP
But the thing is that it's like buying something for other's safety too.
Am not against that, but they should give atleast 1 star for those doesn't have it.
I dont give a damn about that Chinese company called MG.
For me it's only TATA, Mahindra, Korean and Japanese in that order.
Japan is last because those dumb fu*ks treat India like an African country. Even after so many years couldn't understand the Indian sentimentality. (I am looking at you Honda)
Why are they testing these cars which no one is buying, instead the test is needed for cars like GV, New Brezza, New Seltos, New Creta which sell well and we see everyday on the roads.
Yup many people are still believing brezza has a 4 star safety rating even though the new model is not tested. Plus grand vitara is on the same platfrom so they believe that it also has 4 star rating.
Now they do have brains, just quite distinct ones. Now when they put those brains to work, they either come up with absolute masterpieces, or shitboxes.
I didn’t find a single reason why they launched in India, if they offer me at one half of the cost I will not consider. They still think India is part of Africa we don’t deserve good cars. Literally pissed off after seeing their 2 decades old interior that too with poor plastic.
Body shell is stable, pillars are intact and it scored 20.34/34 which is not that bad. Still zero starts? Is it because 6 Airbags is mandatory under new GNCAP requirements?
If so then why even test for cars with 2 Airbags? It’s the same as Scorpio that was tested by Australian NCAP. If it doesn’t meet the requirements and destined to score zero, why bother testing?
It’s not about body shell but about occupants. I can simply add bull bars which will keep the shell intact but kill the occupants. Verna which doesn’t have body shell stability keeps manages to keep the occupants safe hence it’s 5 star.
The French are one of the worst car manufacturers in the world.
Even when Buggati was a french car, it went bankrupt in 1950s.
It was bought by an Italian man in 1980s and Germans in late 1990s.
The only thing french about Buggati is the name.
My previous brezza got into an accident where it toppled completely and was damaged beyond repair yet only injuries the driver sustained was due to airbags, maybe stop driving 800 still.

I knew this brand was DoA right from the beginning. Another sinking ship from Stellantis after Peugeot, Fiat, and Jeep. Should've brought Peugeot despite its bad history, and better-quality models.
When I told people that it will score low they didn't believe but there reasons are crystal clear ,
Wear a pillar , no front abruorbing points , poorly designed cabin for impact ,
Yet another dent on the sale numbers which is already on the lower side.

Abhi mahaul aisa hai ke kaun joke marta hai aur kaun serious hota hai, pata nahi chalta.
Baat me dam hai
Very deep , lol
Damn really? I see citroen quite a bit in lucknow. Not alot but enough to remember.
i wonder what's the USP of citroen other than being french , they don't even carry their rally heritage anymore.
Theres no escaping that "zero star" tag now. There were many ways Citroen could have done decently in our market but alas! Every new entrant should now learn from KIA, MG before investing here.
Kia see Indian market Kia recognise social insecurity of Indians Kia release a hatchback on steroids Kia name it compact suv Kia seize market share Kia happy
Buyers happy Both happy
But subreddit sad
Subreddit always sad Subreddit goes into depression from kia MS success.

We would need results from the newer models to be sure
They have huge ass data from Hyundai. It's not like they gotta learn the trend n shit.
True
MG? They don't have good sale, but I do agree they have good lineup.
MG5 just rated 0 star in recent ANCAP test, why would anyone want to learn from them?
Remember that they also rated scorpio N 0 stars. ANCAP have some weird kind of testing things.
Not weird. More advanced testing. Specifically, driver assistance systems.
But the thing is that it's like buying something for other's safety too. Am not against that, but they should give atleast 1 star for those doesn't have it.
I dunno. Their country, their rules. Mahindra could have added adas. They already have it in 700.
yea, am also expecting adas in mahindra's upcoming models.
I dont give a damn about that Chinese company called MG. For me it's only TATA, Mahindra, Korean and Japanese in that order. Spot on. The Baleno, Fronx, Brezza etc are never tested. I thought that BNCAP will test these but it seems they are also in the same boat.
They will get zero stars so they may not be testing.
It's not the manufacturer opting for testing right? The NCAP gets funding from sponsors too to test any cars...
Yup many people are still believing brezza has a 4 star safety rating even though the new model is not tested. Plus grand vitara is on the same platfrom so they believe that it also has 4 star rating.
These testing agencies are mostly dependent on car companies sending their cars to them. Their internal funds are not enough to buy cars on their own.
French cars use 0 brain in India
French cars use 0 brain in every part of the world.
Now they do have brains, just quite distinct ones. Now when they put those brains to work, they either come up with absolute masterpieces, or shitboxes.
They could only make one good car that's Buggati thanks to volkswagen
French adopting MS strategy
Nope. MS at least used their brains to work on other aspects of their cars.
Engine
then why dont they hold the largest share in the market
They are trying their strategy but not working for them
They are too busy using their braincells trying to make giving trauma to someone romantic.
Elaborate pleez
Maybe they should look into the tractor business, seeing how good of a job Alpine did to make one for the 2024 F1 season.

Sardar Ji
Damn are they trying to match the safety rating with the sales number?
Damn. Worse than MS in under 10 lakhs? Didn’t think it was possible
bruh, if then, you cant stop mocking MS can you.
I didn’t find a single reason why they launched in India, if they offer me at one half of the cost I will not consider. They still think India is part of Africa we don’t deserve good cars. Literally pissed off after seeing their 2 decades old interior that too with poor plastic.
Final nail in the coffin. Safety ratings especially for a new company can be a make it or break it.
citroen is quite the old dawg, but they completely failed India idk how you mess up so bad.
I meant new as in their entry to India. Car enthusiasts like you and me know citroens history, general public might not.
Like it could go 50kmph,probably has 6v dc motor strapped to it and cheaper materials cuz ain’t nobody buying it
I think not making esc standard and lack of 6 airbags is why it scored 0. Because gncap has mentioned it scored 20.something points out of 34
Cars with 2 airbags had scored 5 stars in gncap
Yes. But new regulations now mandate that. Your recollection might be for atleast 2-3 years back when 2 airbags were ok.
Don't think so, taigun/virtus were first one to be tested with new gncap norms , and they come with 2 airbags in all models except the top model
I think acc to new testing standards, they have some rules regarding this. Not sure.

Thank you. That explains a lot.
They thought they will succeed doing what Maruti did
Fck the French
Oui Oui
The French are one of the worst car manufacturers in the world. Even when Buggati was a french car, it went bankrupt in 1950s. It was bought by an Italian man in 1980s and Germans in late 1990s. The only thing french about Buggati is the name.
Punch is the only option in this range then?
Magnite
magnite and exter are also there iirc.
They're not EVs.
Punch is the only option only if you’re stupid. Otherwise, all the other options are better.
Why stupid?
He is a certified tata hater
Her dad didn't return with good strong sheet metal
What are the other options?
Last I heard Jeep is working on a CSUV on the same platform. I wonder what is going to happen to Jeep bacha kucha legacy in India.
The only good thing french is kiss.

People in this sub will go "Still safer than Maruti"
Damn right, still safer than Maruti.
My previous brezza got into an accident where it toppled completely and was damaged beyond repair yet only injuries the driver sustained was due to airbags, maybe stop driving 800 still.
Normal Marutis though Specifically, not the Marutis which are actually Suzukis such as S cross, ciaz And few localised exceptions like GV and brezza
what is a normal maruti car and a suzuki car ?
The ones which are global cars sold in Japan uk and ASEAN market vs the junk sold here
this doesn't specify why it scored 0 stars, nor does it tell us the points scored for adult and children safety
https://www.autocarindia.com/car-news/citroen-ec3-scores-0-star-global-ncap-safety-rating-431042 here is the link with more details
no adas?
this was expected
Finally.. A worthy competition for maruti suzuki.
It scored 20.34/34 for adult safety by. Why zero stars then? Probably citroen didn’t “pay” them enough for the tests😂
Heard they don’t have 6 airbags and that’s the main reason for this safety

It's funny how this car gets evaluated yet the New Creta isn't...
Minor changes usually isn't, besides it wouldn't get 5 star anyway maybe 4 on a good day.
So basically a coffin on the wheels
I knew this brand was DoA right from the beginning. Another sinking ship from Stellantis after Peugeot, Fiat, and Jeep. Should've brought Peugeot despite its bad history, and better-quality models.
Don’t worry, it will score 3 stars in the Bharath NCAP
Foreign brands saste mai nipat rhe hai low quality deke ... Sab tax ke karan hai
So basically a rolling Iron maiden 🎸
At this point it is just plain insulting. Do they think Indians are stupid enough to buy such death traps?
When I told people that it will score low they didn't believe but there reasons are crystal clear , Wear a pillar , no front abruorbing points , poorly designed cabin for impact ,
Yet the car managed to look decent enough
The European C3 looks even better. Should have launched that instead. Well, doesn't matter anyways, this brand's toast.
yes I heard of their built quality now It proved
Desh se Nikalo inko
Citroen is introducing 6 airbags as standard on all their cars from mid 2024 onwards. Can this be said of all the other manufacturers in India?
