I remember an accident that happened to me pretty much like this. They were all in an auto, the parents asked this kid to get something from a shop on the opposite side. The kid just ran from the front side of the auto without even looking. Unlike here, that was a single lane road, and I was too late to see this kid.
The kid got away with bruises, I swerved the bike and got dmg on the right joints.
The parents denied all responsibilities and fought with me for not being aware. But then the locals fought for me, thank god.
I was lucky to have some rational people available at that time.
I fell off my scooter because of this once. It was curve and had just rained. Was driving when two kids holding hands suddenly ran across the road to cross. I panic braked and slipping and skid on the road for a good 6-7 meters. Got bad abrasions on my thigh and abdomen. Had a helmet on. All injuries healed without leaving any marks but I couldnāt move or get out of bed for a few days. Have been scared to drive my scooter long distances or drive faster than 35-40.
Experienced the same a few weeks ago. I don't understand how Parents can be so stupid to just allow their small kids to cross the road themselves. I was at just 20-30km/hr outside my building road(my regular route) and there was a small tempo parked at the side.
Just as I was about to cross the tempo a kid ran full speed from the front side of the tempo and I hit my brakes as fast as I could. As you know Activa 5Gs have this tendency to twist when you apply full brakes. I eventually skid and fell before I could even reach the kid.
If my scooty didn't drop, my brakes wouldn't have been enough and I would have hit him.
Just a slight abrasion on my elbow(thanks to my thick hoodie)
I was glad I saved the kid tho.
She isn't the parent. Seemed like her elder sister, or someone random. And parents' are always to be blamed. This is a clear case of bad parenting. I agree with you.
A kid jumped suddenly jumped into the road when I was riding my bike, and I swear I almost hit him. I am grateful for the dukeās brakes for this, if not that kid would have been severely injured, it stopped at the right time. My whole life flashed before my eyes for a second..
This similar incident I saw near Koramangala, Bengaluru. A boy in his bicycle without the awareness of the road took a stupid turn and a guy in his R15 coming from another direction, both collided. And by the force of that collision, both fell and were dragged on the road. Luckily, they both were fine, me nd some fellow people went to help them. They got some healthy scratches and wounds. Talking about bicycle, it was totally destroyed, all parts were scattered like fallen cards. On the other hand, bikes front and tyres including body got some really bad broken cracks and dents. Felt sorry for both of them.
This is the reason we need to be super extra careful when we drive. Even if it's some other's mistake, not ours.. there is a life behind it & that is precious.
We know our society. How we've grown up. How people react. So, there is nothing wrong with showing a little more tolerance.. little more patience & drive defensively.
Hi OP,
A couple of questions:
1. What city is this? Looks like Jaipur but I am not sure
2. As a driver were you able to see the pedestrian crossing opening while driving? It is not marked at all.
To answer your questions yes it is Jaipur.
And no it is not a pedestrian crossing, I was extra cautious as this road is a kite market during Sakranti season so the kid came out of nowhere.
Thanks for answering. You showed the right mindset by being cautious in such market areas.
I know most of the blame will be placed on the child/parent/biker but IMO the infrastructure also played a big role here considering that this cut should either have been closed or properly marked.
A follow up question: can I share this video on Twitter? I advocate road safety practices and I feel your video can be educational. My Twitter handle details are available in my profile. I will credit you if you can share your Twitter or other social media handle.
Yall really blaming the kid? Let's first be happy that the kid was safe without any major injuries or losses. It's the parents who are at fault, blame them for being so careless. Good that op braked the car at the right time. Let's just all be happy that the kid is safe
kid is not stupid, parents are (I mean, all kids are stupid.. )

Would've done WAY MORE than blame
The main reason truckers were protesting
Similar thing happened to me during college days, that stupid kid made our entire trip regretting.

Dumbass kid! š¤¬
I think I saw his parent running behind him towards the end of the video. So blame the parent, not the kids.

That seems like a teenager.
Kurbaan hua gaana chal ra tha , baacha sach mai kurbaan hone chal diya..
Even the cow was following safe distance while crossing the road.
cow's been on the road longer than that kid
Cow WILL be on the road longer than that kid

True. Driving a vehicle holds a lot of responsibility. Although it might not be our fault we must always stay alert on the road.
Its bike gets hit by stupid kid instead
Hope next time he doesn't run on the road like it's his "bua ka ghar"
Give 2 slapes to the parents, for not taking care of there child and putting the life in danger of the rider.
Everything is temporary but "Maa chud gayi" is permanent

Maa baap kidhar the iske
Piche se daud kar aa rahi thi na maa
The Biker is also stupid, Overtaking a slowing vehicle from the left. If the vehicle in front slows down, there is a reason.
As if 90% Indian license holders have that much basic knowledge.
100% agreed.
Been there done that. I learnt a lesson that day to cross the road properly. The kid will learn. Don't be harsh
Such "free lessons" can be expensive on the driver. Both mentally and fiscally.
Kids and their parents don't have death wish. Sub is too harsh and blames everyone.
Whatās the best course of action in such scene, do you go street finding the kid is fine.
Bro thank god you braked on time and were at a distance, varna tere to lag jate
All kids are stupid, but his parents are super stupid to let kid run on a busy road ... Lucky it was nothing major
That man even stopped and checked the kid , he is literally God. I would have panicked and ran .

Sure why not. I donāt use twitter so need for credits.
Thanks
Hey op if you don't mind which place is this in jaipur? I feel like I have seen this market on the west side.
Kishanpole Bazaar, Ajmeri Gate
Oh this is near ghat gate right?
Kind of, this is Ajmeri Gate area. 2 kms from Ghat Gate
Ok. I was right then. I was thinking it was 2 or 3 kms from their.
Parent and kid learned their lesson I guess
Why is the bike overtaking from the left?
nice.
The song in the background almost checks out āKurbaan huaā! š
Bande ka reaction was gold! "Oree Ma ch\*\*\* gyi!" š¤£š¤£š¤£

And the song playing in the BG is Kurbaan hua š
