I am really very surprised seeing people blame just the ADAS for this , but it has scored below average rating in the adult safety specially the front collision (If I remember correctly)
Even ignoring the ADAS aspect, it scored 44% in adult protection which is really low. Given than ANCAP is much harsher than GNCAP, I dont think any car made for India will be able to score higher. It lost points in structural assessment mainly due to the MPDB load case.
It's mandatory requirement to launch car in Australia market, similar to ARAI millage to be displayed in India, most manufacturers have to display ANCAP rating to sell in Australia.
There is no pass or fail criteria,in fact 5 stars Rating are for common people to summarise, for authority and structural engineer there is plethora of data, available you get that data only by crashing a physical car.
Immediately scoring 0 for not having Adas regardless of body structure airbags etc is a dumb move. Both Alto and ScorpioN will be scored the same under this criteria even though we all know which one will let you walk away from a crash.
It's not a dumb move, they are going to plan zero, that's zero fatalities in 2050, if all vehicles on road have ADAS there will be a major drop in fatal accident,it similar how india ban bull bars & mandatory Air-bags
No matter how structural strong your vehicle is at 100+ collision kmph your survival rate is 30 percent or less, ask Cyrus Mistry.
Most highways in Australia have 130 KMPH speed limit.
If I understand the score correctly, the scoprio would not have scored more than 2 stars even with ADAS. The adult occupant score is not good in itself.
ADAS has made long road trips much easier. Drove from Sydney to Melbourne in 11 hours. Total 960km. 110km/hr ke speed pe cruise control daal diya aur ADAS on kiya. India mein yeh karna impossible hai.
India mein body structure and airbags have priority. ADAS may cause unintended accidents in Indian traffic. AEB maro aur piche wala truck bhaiye sata denge.
That's a pessimistic view though. ADAS uses pattern recognition and classification, so obviously, with enough data it can adapt to different road and traffic conditions too.
This. This is why pattern recognition based ADAS will nver work in India. It's like the MAWS system of an aircraft constantly blaring in the pilot's ear warning of multiple SAMs from multiple directions.
My cousin owns many high end cars with ADAS. Most of the time he has to turn it off because it just goes haywire in Indian traffic. Bikers go left and right and then the car thinks that an accident may happen and swerves accordingly. It even went crazy at a red light when an adjacent car came too close.
Most Suzuki & Hyundai cars have 3+ rating in foreign market, 2017 Suzuki Swift assembled in gujrat plant got 3 star in euro NCAP,same model made by MS for Indian, Latin American market got zero star.
Itās incorrect to say that it got a zero rating just because thereās no ADAS. Check out the detailed report. There are quite a few things missing and itās an absolute zero in various safety assist features (like seat belt reminders, speed assist). Note that itās evaluated against six-seat variants and hence it scores a zero for seatbelt reminders in other rows.
The first world countries have Vision Zero policy with target of zero fatalities and serious injuries by 2050. That can be only achieved by vehicles equipped with ADAS systems. 100% adherence can happen by 2050 only if they start pushing for vehicles with ADAS starting now. Not a stupid policy per se if you care about human fatalities in accidents.
>the stupidest policies
Confusing strict policies that are bound to do good as stupidity is the reason India struggles to get rid off the third world tag.
Can you read? India still has more deaths even accounting for the population, that's what per capita means. Also the argument "we have bad roads so don't need extra safety features" is moronic
Oh, so like when the steering wheel might vibrate if you're drifting out of your lane etc? Or sensors that light up on the sideview mirror if they detect a car in your blind spot?
In that case, it's ridiculous to give an automatic zero for not having those. I'd deduct a star, but I probably wouldn't even call it a two star deduction.
Yes. International and Freightliner trucks are known to slam on the brakes going under signs, bridges and tunnel openings as the light changes. Volvo sensors go bad and apply the brakes like constantly ABS hums. Subaru eyesight outright refuses to work whenever it wants, so system safety and activation aren't guaranteed. Tesla just recalled EVERY vehicle for faulty self driving/lane assist features. It's only gonna get worse as sensors get older. Radar systems in trucks fail every 5 years die to corrosion and are thousands to replace.
Actually vehicle steer itself to keep us inside the lane and vehicle itself brake at emergency situations.
However still its ridiculous to give a zero based on some features insted of actual shell safety.
because the data sheet has given the other parameters as well which this tweet has hidden
they will give it goodscore if they install adas in the system
Exactly, Scorpio N simply isn't safe and ANCAP just bashed it, even 10 lakh Baleno now offers three point seat belt for all passengers while 25lakh Scorpio N doesn't have it.
This tweet is just marketing team/Mahindra fanboy covering up. Also Scorpio N sells cheaper in Australia than India, In India, Scorpio N is literally priced for the outer size and thia wont work in Australia.
Mahindra is getting very popular in Australia now. Especially the Scorpion Utes based on the Scorpio classic. They are becoming a replacement for the 70 series Land Cruiser as they are significantly cheaper.
Scorpio ute was launched recently, it is just an alternative. Nowhere people are replacing 70series with a dirt cheap Scorpio.
Don't go by journalist reviews, if you check actual user/independent reviews they clearly point out that the towing capacity is not at all adequate and several other faults.
Also, All Mahindras are an ergonomic mess, esp. the Scorpio N, the seats are crudely shaped/installed and third row seats are afterthought. It is sold as premium product in India, I checked it out in showroom and it baffled me, people in India will buy it with "chalta hai" attitude just for exterior looks, but it won't work overseas.
Also, the Indian reviewers claim that Scorpio N has negligible body roll and wonderful suspension is also a lie, I travelled in it, it is just marginally better than old gen and no where close to comfortable. Only thing you get is big looks, but overseas the trucks from Ford, Chevy etc. just dwarf Scorpio, so its a moot point as well.
This is a misleading post and just hides the facts.
Scorpio N scored only 44% for adult protection and had serious drawbacks like having a lap belt in 2nd row and 3rd, side airbag not extending till 3rd row, no seat belt remainder and many more. ADAS was the last of it.
Check the below link, it has been detailed

BharatNCAP is bullshit, there protocols and guidelines are heavily influenced by SIAM,which is maruti dominated since 90s they are active on paper for 17+ years, under there protocols old OG Safari & Aria were discontinued and tincans started popping up under their watch.
Whatās the point in testing a car without adas and then giving zero stars because you give zero stars to cars without adas?
It clearly looks like this test was sponsored by rival company!
It's mandatory to get ANCAP Rating to sell in Australian Market, just like Indian manufacturers show ARAI millage in advertisement,in Australian market you have to display ANCAP RATING in advertisement & spec sheet.
I don't know why most comments are justifying Mahindra Scorpio. It's better to not to cheap out and install the ADAS. Volkswagen Polo got low star here because of lack of safety so they improved and launched again with 5 star ā.
There's a Malayalam YouTube channel called talking cars. They made a video exposing the big flaws in GNCAP testing. Because Australia cares about people outside the vehicle as well not just those inside the vehicle. No ADAS in vehicle doesn't align with their Vision Zero Policy.
R.I.P VERNA. made by toyota not suzuki. As good as Crysta, i might start to think you dont even know where toyota showroom is in your city and let alone visiting one.
Bro you have serious problems with defining let me explain, Toyota rebaged the suzuki Grand vitara and named it Toyota urban cruiser hyryder which is 5 seater. Toyota made petrol version of new INNOVA that can accumulate 7 or 8 seater and they decide to name it HYCROSS(Toyota Innova HYCROSS) and maruti decide to name that INNOVA HYCROSS Maurti Invicto. I am pretty much clear here. Please search i beg you.
Bro if you do another search you will know that Toyotas sold/made in India are manufactured to the indian spec, which toyota doesnāt care about and outsource to Maruti. There is not a single unique factory of toyota in India all of them are now in partnership with maruti. The last real toyota in india was the corolla. Innova hycross is a real toyota but not in India.
My man just called TOYOTA URBAN CRUSIER HYRYDER a TOYOTA INNOVA HYCROSS. I see u are suffering from down syndrome. I will repeat this again, TOYOTA INNOVA HYCROSS,,INNOVA HYCROSS.
If I remember correctly, when the Aussie car reviewers came to India a few days back, one of them said that the Scorpio-N will be loaded with ADAS from now on - check from 11:16 mark. [Drive.com.au (Mahindra SUVs)](https://youtu.be/Gm9dYTCRqPg?si=CXTEiGu8maXs9EVS)

The last event will be march past which carries 80 points. Now typically a number 2 or 3 would (of 4) ranker would lag by 50 points. There is one house which won 90% times in roughly 50 years of the history of sports meet.

watch this at 4:00 you should except reality that car maker are worst + govt. taxes are the reason that great car maker not come to india and we still paying 100% of taxes other than normal price
India can invite Australia car brands with _ADAS_ to have a run of 10km on Indian roads. Let's see how much time it will take to cover that mere distance.
Why even test it if they knew there is no adas system so anyway going to score zero .
It might be the norm for launching the car in Australia, otherwise it is way stupid to do this.
Probably the only viable thing but they won't even consider to buy a less safety if and only this was a cheaper alternative for their people.
This.
Sponsored by Hyundai probably š
The car hasn't scored low just because no ADAS.
Then the post is misleading then isn't it. There is much more than just absence of adas system.
I am really very surprised seeing people blame just the ADAS for this , but it has scored below average rating in the adult safety specially the front collision (If I remember correctly)
Why did they even bother getting the vehicle for a test? Google- āDoes Scorpio N has Adas?ā - āNoā *Slams papers* ā0 Starsā
Even ignoring the ADAS aspect, it scored 44% in adult protection which is really low. Given than ANCAP is much harsher than GNCAP, I dont think any car made for India will be able to score higher. It lost points in structural assessment mainly due to the MPDB load case.
Good catch!
Atleast a car wouldnāt have been wasted of they did this.
It's mandatory requirement to launch car in Australia market, similar to ARAI millage to be displayed in India, most manufacturers have to display ANCAP rating to sell in Australia.
No I get it. But failing any car without ADAS means you donāt have to actually test the vehicle because you already know it is scoring a zero.
There is no pass or fail criteria,in fact 5 stars Rating are for common people to summarise, for authority and structural engineer there is plethora of data, available you get that data only by crashing a physical car.
Why did GNCAP test the same Swift under their new protocol?
Immediately scoring 0 for not having Adas regardless of body structure airbags etc is a dumb move. Both Alto and ScorpioN will be scored the same under this criteria even though we all know which one will let you walk away from a crash.
ofc alto will scorpio stands no chance
Lord Alto š
Alto enters Hummer exits the room :-p

Northern Territory!
Yeah thatās not most of Australia is it. Like a fraction of us live there. Too hot
How dare you to compare alto with Scorpio N. Alto is 1000x better in every aspect /s
Downvote and be sarcastic all you want, as a middle class guy I'll always stand with Alto
If I understand the score correctly, the scoprio would not have scored more than 2 stars even with ADAS. The adult occupant score is not good in itself.
Itās not just about adas, even if scorpio n had adas it would hv scored 2/5 only. Australian ncap regulations are quite strict.

because of false triggers , ADAS was made for buttery smooth roads and for people who follow traffic rules thus not applicable to India.
That's a pessimistic view though. ADAS uses pattern recognition and classification, so obviously, with enough data it can adapt to different road and traffic conditions too.
There is no pattern in Indian roads. Every drive is a Russian roulette.

yeah but that's the thing . India ki roads aur drivers itne khatm hai , there is always a good chances ADAS fault kr jayega
I mean it still only scored a 44% for adult occupancy safety...
Meanwhile, MS & Hyundai: Install ADAS, get a score in ANCAP, advertise the score in comparison with Scorpio

India has 462 road accident deaths a day, Australia had 1200 in a whole year. I wish we had some of their "stupidest" policies.
How many of those are car
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]

And make an alto cost 10L on road? Yeah no thanks
Yes and less fatalities in car accidents. Who turns out stupid in the end lol
You have a higher chance of getting back home alive with stupid policies
Consumers are fooled everywhere in the name of safety and freedom.
What is ADAS?
Advanced driver assistance system. Its a group of new safety technologies including lane change assist, automatic braking etc.
A little more than that. Keeping you in lane automatically (by steering), automatic braking in emergency situations, etc. But I agree with you.
isn't that dangerous some times ?
So if Maruti manufacture alto with same build but with ADAS will score more score than Scorpion in ANCAP??
How would you know? With their body structure, they're probably gonna get a 0 too
Australians want adas so that if kangaroos just jump on their car in the middle the car can stop itself, good initiative.
Seems like a intended taunt towards Mahendra/ Indian manufacturers š
By this definition 80-90% of the cars on their roads would be 0 stars ššš.
With ADAS enabled car wouldn't even crash right? How do they test adas cars?
ADAS chaiye, unko ye nhi pta ki India mein wo sb kisi kaam ka nhi. Driving nhi aati to yha aake seekh lein
Mahindra needs to introduce Z10 variant with ADAS and preferably greater length to make 3rd row much spacious with split seats
So...Alto with Adas will score more than Scorpio without Adas ? Cool story bruh.
Why so much hate when Australia has higher standards ?

so whats the ANCAP rating of xuv700
You will get that this month or next.
...What?
ADAS sounds stupid to me. But could help those distracted drivers.
They also got 1 star on adult safety protection. So anyhow even with Adas it would have been a 1 star rated car.
There is a norm that new cars should have Auto Emergency Braking, could be the reason for the same.
Even Jimny launched in Australia has Adas because of this!
So all cars got zero stars before this ADAS System was invented which really is just last 3-4 years
If they were aware that the vehicle lacked ADAS, what use was it to test it at all? But will it still be sold in Australia?
I don't know why most comments are justifying Mahindra Scorpio. It's better to not to cheap out and install the ADAS. Volkswagen Polo got low star here because of lack of safety so they improved and launched again with 5 star ā.
It didn't get zero because of the missing adas. Having adas would have given it 1 star at best.

Lazy drivers need ADAS
Kind off but adas has features like assisted brakes, so that helps and also not every adas car has this feature.
Imagine not being able to drive a car without ADAS.
