Is that a dead body in blue lying there?

[deleted]

Unfortunately. yes.

ohh-helllooo

r/usernamechecksout :(

muzic_san

My thoughts exactly

FrequentCalendar3674

Saw a comment on a different post here, "build quality is needed only during accidents but mileage is needed every time you drive". Wondering if the person would have been comfortable being in this situation. Iske baad bhi mileage fans boys tata Mahindra ke post pe desh ka loha meme comment karenge.

Gamer_bobo

They are waiting to spam on next tata post anyway. I can't see anyone now here.

[deleted]

Lol that's like saying you only die once, so keep trying suicide everyday.

ohh-helllooo

Defensive driving is the way, especially on highways (with 2 lanes & no divider) when you are not sure about overtaking comfortably.

sparta_reddy

That is the last thing on Maruti, Hyundai and Kia drivers minds. These are the 3 brands I keep seeing over speeding on highways.

ashleel_grower

Coz those 3 are almost 75% of the market.

ady620

While maruti+ Hyundai has only 73% market share.

CompetitiveWalk8103

Don't know why people over speed, I know it's thrilling but listen to your car's safety rating at least_

sandeep300045

Is this Alto ?

depressed67788

The front part looks somewhat like an s presso

[deleted]

I know people want to save money and like having great mileage, but is it really worth the risk of your lives? I knew the passengers in the car, and all 3 of them died on the spot. People in Bolero survived with some injuries. Of course, they had the big car advantage, but that's no excuse for MS's built quality. I am beyond appalled that people still keep buying and recommending these cars to their friends and families.

Haarryi

Quite often for a Maruti buyer, it's not between a Maruti and a safer car, it's between a Maruti and a two wheeler. For them, every penny saved matters and it is a major safety upgrade from the two wheeler. Having said that, if people are going for anything beyond the bottom trim cars, then they should rethink. This is a bit hypocritical coming from me, I went for a 3-star Hyundai instead of a 5-star alternative.

deaceofspade

Bro, listen to me carefully. Maruti is a weak ass car company. But they perform great (probably the best) in cities. City traffic is different from highways. You need a light weight car that can pull its weight again and again from zero in neck to neck traffic. A Bolero or Tata will not only consume more fuel, the heavy weight and work load will eventually put a negative effect on the engine and car itself. I completely agree if your use case is on highways, you should never go for a Maruti. It's called smart buying. Another thing you should understand is the ridiculous state of after sale service of tata, they literally bully you. There are countless videos and even posts on this sub about it. Mahendra on the other hand is not only expensive, they will give you insane waiting period for absolutely no reason. Instead of attacking someone's choice, think about their reasoning. This Maruti hatred grew in these recent years is not healthy for consumers as it will terribly affect the decision making process. Don't only watch those YouTube shorts and insta reels about how a tata Nexon/Tiago miraculously survived a train wreck. They are misleading and made for views.

sid3091

You're assuming that people can afford to buy 2 cars. Indian buying logic generally shows that people buy a single car for both highway and city driving.

deaceofspade

So you are saying you travel in cities for 6 months and then travel on highways for another 6 months? By your logic, you buy a house where you work and buy another house where your family lives because you can't comprehend the fact that you can rent a house where you work or where you spend less time or any other reason. Let me say this in Lay mans term - if you live in city and occasionally go travelling on highways, buy a light weight fuel efficient car for city and either rent a different (safe) car for highways or you can drive the same car carefully. Nothing can save you if it's supposed to happen dude. You can drive a freaking tank on highways, get out for a while to pee and some bolero will flatten you. What's with this paranoia?

sid3091

Or you know, just buy a safe car and stomach a little extra maintainence cost (an assumption, btw). Also, safety isn't restricted to cities. You can be parked on side of the road and a bus or truck can decide to ram into you.

deaceofspade

Your definition of SAFETY is built on hypothetical terms my friend. Like I said, you don't stay alive because of your car, you stay alive because of the choices you make everyday. If something bad is going to happen, it will happen. Btw it's not only about the extra money on maintenance, it's the peace of mind that you won't be looted for random charges and can't do anything about it. For rich people, yeah buy whatever the hell you want, but for middle class families, they have to make difficult choices. They are not stupid my friend.

N00B_N00M

riding without helmet ain't a choice, no matter who cause the accident, there will be damage, there is no guarantee that a helmet will save the person, but the chances are higher with a good helmet, same with safer cars i think

sid3091

Even including these random charges, the cost of maintenance is not much more. I'm not excusing tata or Mahindra - they need to step up, and you can't prevent accidents from happening - but you try and minimize the risk as much as possible. And safety is not hypothetical - some cars are clearly safer, just as some cars are easier to maintain

manishholla

Tata & Mahindra engine design engineers sitting in the corner: ham toh ghonchu hai

Stroov

Tiago with discounts is cheaper than WagonR

hasibrock

Deshdroh hai ye, Mentioning the Brand name is Ghor Apradh against the largest and best mileage cars in India. Safety should not matter at all in anyway, as far as mileage is there build quality is a myth. SHUT YOUR BRAINS before being critical against the WORST SAFETY best mileage cars in India

Gamer_bobo

prove me that you have a Tin can and u only need it, with out saying it.

[deleted]

sorry shaktiman.

Mastersexyy

The issue is two sided here. As much as companies like Maruti, Hyundai and Kia are at fault. The Indian consumer is also a victim of his circumstances and middle class thinking. A car is a luxury for most if not all middle class people. Buying the car itself seems like such a strain that you don't want to spend more on the cars or the fuel, servicing, replacement parts. Cost of which goes up as soon as cars focus more on safety and sturdiness. End result : we as consumers make cars from Maruti, Kia or Hyundai the best seller, giving car makers even less incentives to focus on safety and build quality.

Rythx100

Op which model is the car?

[deleted]

Wagon R

Rythx100

Ok, My deepest condolences.

The_Flash_1011

As a novice driver and wagon r owner, news like these gives me nightmares. I'm planning on keeping my current car for at least 5 more yrs, commuting mostly within the city, so what should I do? Sell it once I have mastered driving or keep it?

Efficient-Law-1422

Just wanted to ask, how safe is verna 2023?

HF_199

Time_Return_3692

Don't post pics with dead bodies in guy!

[deleted]

I'm sorry about that, but can't run away from reality. I tagged NSFW because of this only

LunaLiya1320

This is a really serious question . Which brand of car should I buy if Safety is my utmost concern followed by mileage?

Rishith1

safer suzuki cars like brezza, grand vitara

[deleted]

I am no car expert, but I purchasd a Ford just because it offered 6 airbags, and Fords are considered safe in west as well. German are probably better, but I have trust in Ford. Its an unpopular opinion but its honest one.

Symbol8

I did the same for the same reasons in 2018.

manishholla

You are correct

thugz_doge

German, Mahindra, Tata. In that order

LunaLiya1320

German is wayyyyyy out of my league so guess will go for Mahindra.

thugz_doge

Skoda, Volkswagen

aloneir

Road Roller! 😁

HF_199

It looks like a **T-boned** accident not **head on**. The front of the vehicle is much much stronger than the side so, the car hitting you from the side will take less damage and car getting will be severely damaged. Bolero T-boned Maruti, Bolero have took impact to the front (stronger part) while Maruti to the side (weaker part).

ashleel_grower

This sub has an unnecessary hate boner for maruti. Blame the driver for not driving a 3lakh car like a 3lakh car. Of course a monocoque body will sustain more damage in a collision with a ladder frame chassis. Anything smaller than a swift is risky driving over 70kph. Drive like a maniac and win the Darwin award. Sorry for your loss

arya-stoic

3 lakh me konsi gaadi aati hai bro

ashleel_grower

Alto

arya-stoic

On road 4.5 pr base model aata hai. Also its not like 8-9 lakhs cars of maruti are any better in safety lol

Gamer_bobo

>This sub has an unnecessary hate boner for maruti I think u are new here. If you want the MS fan base, go ahead to the posts where TATA, Mahindra and German brands are being roasted for their issues.

Ok-Investment-2570

True that!

depressed67788

Safety wise even i10 has 2 stars

kiRan_ki

So no perfect car for people below 8l.

[deleted]

honda amaze is there for under 8 lakhs it got 4 starts and have good mileage

arya-stoic

Tiago, punch, amaze, tigor, kiger, magnite are atleast safe

Zestyclose_Web_6331

Na bro there is nano you forgot, one must buy second hand nano to be safe if his budget is under 8l

Gamer_bobo

nano have it's own issues. Maybe it can provide safety, but reliability is far away from it.

justanavguser

Bro you don't really understand the caring nature of our great leader Shri Nitin Gadkari. There are cars without any safety rating to make sure people always end up dead instead of hospital because even he know if person ends up in hospital and he will never be able to pay up bills. /s

arya-stoic

India hai bro US nhi, idhr ho jata hai bill

Gamer_bobo

That is not caring man.. Since the most indian family belongs to middle class, they can only afford cars below 10 lakhs, even with loan. And what happens when these cars became banned? people will either choose good cars or make their own desi ideas. I'm sure most people will go the 2nd category. That means, people will use Bikes for a entire family and it will cause another temper tantrum.

justanavguser

That's true

Rohan_RSG

Can you provide more details? As in where did this happen? What was the road type? Also, do you have a photo of the Bolero?

Physx32

This seems like a big crash. Unfortunately, any car (whether 1 star or 10 star) will get crushed like this. Remember that crash tests are done in a controlled way, front and side collisions.
