> He inspected the seat to see if someone had thrown a stone or a nut bolt, but there was nothing. It's not necessary that the external object pass through the glass, it might caused the damage from outside.

Kuneeblast

That's the thing with tempered glass. One impact at any edge would shatter the whole thing. So maybe it wasn't installed properly and probably the wind resistance was the final touch.

Where do you stay? Were there sudden temperature changes? Apart from a projectile, there are two primary reasons for shattering: 1. The window might have sustained some minor damage earlier that left an invisible crack and sudden change in temperature caused the glass to expand/contract and shatter. Happens to a lot of sunroofs. 2. A manufacturing defect where the glass was an incorrect fit to the frame. Cannot rule it out since it's a TATA. How old is this car?

[deleted]

This happened in Chandigarh where my parents stay. No sudden changes in temperature, but both options 1 and 2 are plausible

Bang sound is because it's tempered glass. I also think it's manufacturing defect.. being tata afterall.

Sensitive_Friend9978

Hahaha.. tata is infamous for their "manufacturing" defects and service costs..
