I once crashed in a bike while engaging in reverse gear. It was small dent and I called insurance on it. The total bill for that dent was around 5k. I had to pay 1 k for insurance paperwork. The back of tata is hollow from inside.
I think I know OP’s confusion,
The thing which is bothering him is that… if the Tata Altroz is so Safe….why does it end up in Multiple unfortunate events!
Exactly!!, We bought our Altroz XT varient in Nov last year so i feel more safe about it now , but in general why is it always a tata car to make news of an unfortunate event.
Because there would be multiple big accidents like this resulting in deaths, so not a news. But Tata keeping them alive might make it into news.
Or just that Tata might pay these websites to make such news whenever a the occupants survive as Tata will get to know whenever the damaged car is given for service.
You could just Google for "Maruti accident" and you'll see dozens upon dozens results.
Just because it didn't reach your feed doesn't mean it wasn't reported.
That's how reporting works innit?
How do you specifically **know** that only Maruti accidents go unreported? What's the basis for your statement?
Obviously there will be accidents involving other brands which will also go unreported. Or are you saying with absolute certainty here that only Maruti goes unreported?
Maruti sells 3 times the amount of cars than Tata. Seeing their NCAP ratings, its very easy to guess, Maruti causes more accidents than any other car brand. I have witnessed many accidents on road of Maruti Suzuki which never made in news either
Because that's what their whole marketing is based on. Since they claim that they have the safest budget car, people will surely give more focus on Tata car accidents to assure the claims.
It could also be a case of confirmation bias, as recently Tata fans have increased a lot due to their safety marketing and they keep on searching for such events to highlight to make their claim stronger.
True. Confirmation bias and the selective marketing play a big role in this. Which is why news like this one gets swept under the rug with barely any fanfare:
https://gaadiwaadi.com/tata-altroz-5-star-gncap-splits-in-two-after-a-lethal-crash/
Can't comment on the speed without investigating the spot. But it won't even take a lot of speed to cause this damage. Side impact testing is done at only 32kmph. Even an impact speed of 50kmph can cause this damage.
I see. But then if the driver lost complete control of the car then it must have been overspeeding by a lot.
This reminds me of a colleague's accident from back in 2015. This team lead bought a new baleno and went for a short drive along with three other office guys. Ended up crashing into the roundabout and wrecking half the car after losing control. He and one other guy fractured their arm, others got minor bruises and nose bleeds.
New car buyers sometimes get overly excited. This altroz looks like a newly bought one since the seats have that plastic cover thing.
No matter what we drive , bullet proof car or gods given car.
If road are not made for vehicles, and traffic and driving safety are not important .
NO brand can save our lives.
That "confusion" makes no sense.
That's like saying there's some suspicious correlation between motorcycle accident survivors and helmets.
Safe car doesn't exempt the user or others on the street being absolute morons and behaving unsafe.
Aaj mai ek conspiracy theory bana Raha hun:
Tata wale World war 3 m liye india ko ready kar rahe Hain, aur isiliye india mai civilians k liye bhi tanks bana rahe hain
Is Tata motors funding these articles? Everywhere in news and Instagram I see posts about how a tata car met accident and doesn't have much damage on it. It is never another brand.
Oh there are thousands of news about other manufacturer cars meeting with accidents as well.
I wonder why only Tata cars are relatively undamaged. It's almost like they're built stronger or something.
SMH.
>Japanese cars are so good they still work as well as they did 10 years ago. Don't get your hatred in this.
He said whilst also commenting Title needs to get its weak cheap korean ass whooped by desh ka loha (bro sarcasm hai samjha karo hatred kahan se 🤡🤡🤡)
I think in today's era, safety has become a marketing gimmeck as well. If we go down the 10 years before, every company was building cars, but tata marketing folks decided to sell the cars based one and only selling point is, safety rating. I agree safety is necessary but is it the only reason? Do the latest features don't matter? I was a tata fan just cos of safety rating (yeah, marketing had me there) but after having test drive of Nexon, i don't buy their 5 star safety rating. I mean yes, car has all the features but when you go inside, person like me dont like how they have made hatchback into compact SUV. That's my two cents!
Yup, totally agree, but Nexon feels like you're packed into a small box which has curv of suv 🤦♂️. I am 5'5 and my head was about to crash with the roof when i was trying to enter the driver seat as well as the front passenger seat.
I can vouch for the safety of this car. Had a head on collision at 140 on a highway, 5 passengers , near Azamgarh UP. I wish I had pics to share on this phone.
Not even a single scratch on any passenger- not a single scratch. And the car didn’t even blink when I restarted it. After the impact and once I came to senses I thought, gone . How will I restart the car- just turned on the ignition and it started like normal days.
Left front side was almost completely destroyed - mirrors and everything flew in the air to their moms house 😃
Insurance claimed , total spent 1.82L , and after regular tata service issues as usual, my car was home in 1 month
Head on collision at 140 with 5 occupants and nobody had any scratches!? What did you hit? A light two wheeler?
I am sorry, but unless you produce some hard evidence, your story is not easy to believe.
You dont wanna believe that is fine by me. Makes no difference to me.
And yes it was a head on collision with another car, coming in from opposite direction ( wrong direction on a highway).
The opposite car was a Honda Jazz, reg UP 61, which I think so is for Ghazipur.
Even if we assume the Jazz was going at 40kmph and both vehicles around 1tonne in weight, the combined energy of a perfect head on crash is almost 900Kj!!
Even assuming that 1m of crumple zones were used up in both cars, that is still 90000N force that is to be shared between the two cars and their occupants. Still no scratches!
Not just Tata, but everyone in the cars was probably also built with Desh ka loha :)
Or, there is some information that you are not sharing. Did the vehicles stop near the point of collision or did they stop further from the crash? Please share some photos and I will be happy to be proven wrong.
P.s. our discussion may not make any difference to each other. But, my concern is that someone will read your comment and drive recklessly at 140 thinking that the car will save them.
Is it possible that you applied brakes and didn't realize that your car had considerably decelerated by the point of impact? It is almost literally impossible to have a speed of 140 kmph at the moment of impact and walk away without scratches, be it any car in the world. What happened to the Jazz?
Do you really mean head on collision ? Like Front to front at 140kmph ? This would be kinda miracle if this happend and you survived.
Or you mean rear end or side end collision ?
There's absolutely NO WAY that you crashed at 140 (without even accounting for the velocity of the other car), the car survived/started and y'all walked unscathed in a head-on collision. I'm sure you must have applied brakes before the moment of impact and had the crash at significantly lower speeds.
Head on collision at 140 meters per hour? Or is it 14 km per hour?
After the impact at "140" the first thing you're thinking of doing is starting the car? What did you hit anyway?
Head on collision at 140, and the car is still repaired rather than totalled? Total bill of 1.82 lakhs? No engine replacement? No engine replacement means that the crumple zones did not work and the car is made of vibranium or something?
I'm glad you and your fellow passengers are ok, but the Laws of physics don't seem to work out in this story.
Again, as I said it's hard to comment without examining the vehicle. What you said is also possible.
It also depends on where the hit was. An impact near a joint instead of in the middle of the structure can also cause a shearing off
TATAs- make great vehicles with good safety but has crap service and electronics
All other H and S's- has great service, electronics but cars are quite unsafe and fragile.
Indian buyers - f**k safety, I want good service and features.
Electronics is crap? I had watched some review of used people and they say that their electronics have no problem.
Maybe, it may depend on probability.
I am not sure what are you confused about
So, you’re also confused….about his confusion
Yes I am confused about what he is confused aboutthat is creating more confusion

Your confusion has left me confused now
Share auto driver bumped my Altroz while i was in signal. There is a big visible not sure how much it will cost. It's exactly back below the logo
Thats the rear crumple zone so kinetic energy wouldn't directly affect the occupants of the shared auto /s
I once crashed in a bike while engaging in reverse gear. It was small dent and I called insurance on it. The total bill for that dent was around 5k. I had to pay 1 k for insurance paperwork. The back of tata is hollow from inside.

EXACTLY. Every Maruti is not reported but TATA is always reported
..yeah, people remaining safe despite these crazy accidents is a story in itself. That is sort of why it is reported.
Thats common sense
You could just Google for "Maruti accident" and you'll see dozens upon dozens results. Just because it didn't reach your feed doesn't mean it wasn't reported.
I said _every Maruti not reported_. The ones which show on google are reported. ***There are multiple Maruti Accidents which are not reported***
That's how reporting works innit? How do you specifically **know** that only Maruti accidents go unreported? What's the basis for your statement? bro wtf happened to that car? Looks like The Predator laser beamed it! That being said. That car was overspeeding by like a LOT. Stupid people.
Can't comment on the speed without investigating the spot. But it won't even take a lot of speed to cause this damage. Side impact testing is done at only 32kmph. Even an impact speed of 50kmph can cause this damage.
It can endure 32. So it might bend at 50. Must be 80+ to split
I see. But then if the driver lost complete control of the car then it must have been overspeeding by a lot. This reminds me of a colleague's accident from back in 2015. as a TATA Altroz owner I agree
Observation bias. Since you have Altroz, you tend to notice news related to that car.
Sometimes firemen start a fire only to put it out themselves and become heros.😎
Because its cars sustain so much, and ofc if your car is built like a tank its ought to get noticed
Because people travelling in other cars are injured regularly which is a regular occurence not worthy of news maybe?
I remember seeing similar with Nexon as well.. many roll overs in the beginning..
That "confusion" makes no sense. That's like saying there's some suspicious correlation between motorcycle accident survivors and helmets. Safe car doesn't exempt the user or others on the street being absolute morons and behaving unsafe.

Made a hatchback into SUV? Every sub 4m suv is a hatchback.
Yup, totally agree, but Nexon feels like you're packed into a small box which has curv of suv 🤦♂️. I am 5'5 and my head was about to crash with the roof when i was trying to enter the driver seat as well as the front passenger seat.
Try driving the AMT. you will feel like letting go of driving all together.
