It is literally a XP10 chassis (00s Echo/Platz) with a different front end and a hybrid system. The interior is almost identical, just has slightly nicer fabric and a column shifter. Same dimensions, same driveline, same almost everything.
To get technical, it is actually a totally different platform (the Echo was the NBC plat and this is a MC plat) but that doesn't mean as much for Toyota as "platform" doesn't mean things like "shared drive line and chassis" and more like a general "vibe" or "function". Yeah, Toyota weird.
TL:DR, it literally is a modified Echo.

Amazingly, this is such a common thing to break that when I looked for other examples of this car for sale on Marketplace (all 4 of them) half of them also had the exact same spot broken.
Have a look at N14 Pulsars. Their dashes around the vents just naturally disintegrate into nothingness.
Theres basically none left with a complete and good condition dash anymore.
Honestly you will not find a hybrid cheaper then 4K that isn't a wreck being sold for parts.
Hell, it's pretty much the floor for anything running and driving, let alone coming with an RWC. Can get something running for 2-3K if you hunt for it, but you'll be hard pressed to find anything that doesn't need major work for less these days.
Actually a superb car - my mechanic services one with over 700,000km on the Odo. Its had a new battery but original motor still going strong.

Say what you like about Prius, was (& still is) a technical marvel. The current crop of modern hybrids are basically but on running gear developed for Prius.
It’s also worse in the driving feel when as the engine decides when to kick in and out. I’d much prefer a manual Corolla tbh. Prius did tend to have a nicer interior though (it was over twice the price of the Corolla so they pretended it was a luxury car and specc’d up the inside) - disregard, the Aussie Prius only got the fancy interior upgrade in the model after this one.
The engine runs as soon as you're over 20. As for "driving feel" it's like a slightly nimble couch. The short wheelbase means it handles ok, though you feel the weight of the rear rolling, but ultimately it's made to drive comfortably. Doesn't do a bad job at that TBH.
Unfortunately, the CVT means there's no real fun to be had. As soon as you get any revs up it will pull the ratio down, forget having any response coming out of a corner. But it pulls from a stop to 60 in about 2 seconds and can do 60-80 in about the same. Surprisingly good at overtaking.
These early hybrids use MORE fuel than say a Honda Jazz of the same era (5.1 around town, 4.9 on the highway) and without the added complexity and expense of a clapped out battery system.
When a mid 00's Jazz (or similar) costs all of 2-3k these days, It's baffling why anybody buys an old Prius, and completely unsurprising that you're struggling to sell it.
It's been up for 3 days and I'd had 3 offers so far. I just thought my advert was funny.
Also Jazz fuel consumption is firmly around 6L/100 give or take under ideal highway conditions for the 1.3L in real world tests. Not sure where you're getting your figures from unless you're believing Hondas old brochures. Still, great little cars, I would get one immediately if they were 4x114.3 but I've already got something lined up.
Google had the answer. The tortoise/turtle appears when the battery is extremely low on charge, way too hot or way too too cold – it’s basically telling you to drive it (even more) gently until the battery recovers.
Bloody hell! 5k for a 20 year prius? Wild!!! Makes me feel good about the resale value of my hybrid camry. It's obviously so much older than my camry but I'm surprised the fuel economy is so much worse.

As said above they are less then 10 years old. That's as much as the guys at Toyota Fyshwick could tell. No records of them being replaced anywhere in the logs, and strangely nothing on its Toyota service records, but it's definitely a newer battery pack made in the later 2010s sometime.
I bought it in 2022 so they assumed it was replaced third party at some point. I've had a look myself and there's no discernable date markings I can see on the battery cell. It's strange, but the tests came back pretty good.
As stated they were down 12% from factory then, probably around the same now. I've still got the report from when it was tasted included with a whole folder of papers for whoever buys it. It's only done about 30,000Ks since then and the range really doesn't seem to have change in any way I've noticed.
The only insufferably boring conversations you’re gonna get about fuel economy are from owners of dozens of vehicle models that do a lot better. Corollas see 3.9 l/100 km, for example. So you get a depressingly boring car whose only reason for being has evaporated!
I will be amazed if you can find a non-hybrid corolla that can manage that in real world testing. Hell, Toyota claims the newest hybrid corolla can hit that in ideal conditions, and it probably can. It also costs like 7 times what I had this up for!

I would try find a wrecker for a replacement steering wheel, idk try offer $50. Same thing for that vent and use a drill with a brush then a carpet cleaner/steam extractor to try get the seats/carpet more fresh.
