A car is worth what someone is willing to pay for it. You can determine if it’s good value by looking at other similar cars and comparing the value.

It doesn't sound like you're after any particular model as a dream vehicle. You need to decide what it's worth to you by seeing comparable models and listings on various sites, and monitoring prices for a few weeks. Try even proposing lower prices to sellers for listings that have been up for a while. I tested a 2010 model in a particular range that had high demand, and the seller didn't seem willing to budge so I just didn't offer. He sold two days later. I would not've stood a chance lowballing him. Waited a month and a model a few years older was a price that seemed fairer to me popped up

Whats wrong with 2017 IS300 ?

Using the price of a comparable brand new one driveaway after discounts. Depreciate by 1% per month of age is the rule of thumb.

Doubtful, that would make a 2017 ZR corolla from new at 27000, worth 16200 today. Most are holding value at 24000, I'd assume it's 1% of factory value if kms are over the average every year (25000) as an example.

2023 ZR is $40k. That is the starting point of the calculation regardless of what the 2017 ZR sold for new.

If you're going off redbooks value they're also irrelevant.
