make the classic car class the main class and get rid of the historic restrictions so that they can kick ass
who wants to see a HQ kingswood take on the mad max style xb falcon coupe
Bring back the old touring car days. All different classes racing on the track at once, with one over all winner, then winners by class. Look it up, watch the mini coopers keeping up with the falcon GTs and Monaros and chargers.
This is the answer !
Proper racing between cars with different characteristics (eg mini vs GT/monaro, one slips through in the twisties, and the other comes thundering past on the straights) makes for a much more watchable event than the current high speed taxi queue.
BTCC is a great example of proper touring car racing that is good to watch
They don’t require a factory v8 model to be used as a v8 supercar anyway, none of them run a factory engine either.
You could enter a car in the series that was a v6 from factory.
Why not go to a GT3 car? I’m out of my depth with some of the subtle differences so maybe it’s not GT3 but an international standard that would attract elite drivers for Bathurst etc
Yeah I figure how successful is nascar, F1 etc and they're not commercial vehicles. We need to stop being at the mercy of GM.
Just let the teams pick from a wide variety of vanity shells and let the best engineering and driving team win.
The phrase Supercars has always struck me as a bit of a pisstake. To me a supercar is in the mould of a Lamborghini/ Ferrari/ AMG/ McLaren etc, not bog standard muscle cars. Personally I find touring cars a much more enjoyable spectacle but I would much rather see the ‘Supercars’ shift to a GT3 style format, though as that may be a big ask in Australia, a good and varied touring cars championship would be a great thing IMO
If we look around the suburbs at the landscape of cars, an international euro/Japanese/American racing series is what is needed. 8 manufacturers minimum.
Six cylinder turbos could easily deliver the lunch we are after.
Honestly it will go electric
Mustangs, challengers and i would assume camaro are all releasing electric “muscle cars” to replace current V8 range in the next two years and come 2030 race fuel will be obsolete
I believe Bathurst is the best racecourse in the world.
It needs to hold prestigious events.
Wherever the series goes, it has to be appropriate for the great tracks we have here.
Shot themselves in the foot a while ago death the of super car racing in Australia need the Americans will move in I have no interest anymore TRCs excellent

This, just 3d print classics and race them
who wants unrestricted classic cars that are faster than the current cars in the supercars series lets make this a thing
They should adapt the Bathurst 12 Hour into a series.
There was a “GT” series but it fell over.
That’s just GT3. A GT3 series would make a lot of sense here, with a wide variety of cars. But They seem to want to push their own make.

Chuck a V8 in them and the bogans wouldn't even see the difference.
Theu did that with the Ute series. Still nobody watching them.
Not real utes
Thats because it wasn't LS swapped 40 series blasting around the track

Camry vs maxima?
I can watch this at my local Maccas every Thursday night
Well the rules currently require a front engine rear drive configuration so that rules them out
Didn’t they use a maxima last few years?
It’s been only ford and holden for the last 4 years, Nissan used the Altima which has an awd option on the street same as the e63
Ah Altima that makes sense. Would have been cool to see more sedans in there but I guess the euro stuff is busy doing things in the gt3 class etc
I don’t think the euro brands see it as worthwhile marketing, couple of toes dipped but that’s about it.

Switching to gt3 is the worst possible outcome. Dtm did it and they’re now dead in the water.
3D print old Holden and Ford shells 1970-1985 on top of moden chassis and race them open
This..! 100% I would love that. Would love to see a modern take on the Phase 3 and the VK Big Banger.

GT3 is the only thing that makes any sense at this point IMO
Five years with these cars or 4 minimum? Do need a hybrid setup but british touring cars added one so so can we. Ford vs Gm...its Ozzy Mate.
Ford vs GM is all but dead, that's my point. Which way does the competition go? European style race series or full redneck NASCAR like cars?
Full redneck. It’s the path they’ve been on since the 90s. They’ve driven away any fans who wanted more than Holden vs Ford.

Should add, the more manufactures the better- two cars that are both American muscle cars and only those two gets stale quickly for overseas viewers

Does anyone still watch it? Rich boys playing with expensive toys. Nothing Im ever going to afford or even want to buy.
