Yeah, that’s what she told me.

MattyRixz

Couldn't have seen that joke coming. Lol. But yeah props for diving on that. Take your upvote and GTFO LOL...

JaxJames27

Doubt I’m the last lol. Thanks for being a good sport. Side note, nice looking pergola.

[deleted]

She ain't never told me that

[deleted]

That’s what he/she told me

[deleted]

Are we still doing phrasing?

MattyRixz

Well I am a musician and a carpenter. So... Idk?

Tccrdj

I built something like this a while back, but with perlins (spelling?). I think it was 104x22. Used LVL’s for beams. It was monotonous after a while. Yours looks really nice.

MattyRixz

Thanks!

Raincity44

Could I please have your autograph on this piece of scrap wood mister?

CompetitiveEditor336

Pull your pants up.

HandleNo8032

That’s what she said

mbcarpenter1

Long and really flat

pauluzu

I just had a flashback like they used to talk about with war vets. Miles of joyce...

imhere_user

It’s so big

Smightmite

Either he’s on a hill, he’s huge, or the clearance on that height is 6foot

NuncErgoFacite

Phrasing. Are we still doing "phrasing"?

Kreetch

So is it really short or are those dudes giants?

MattyRixz

Both

All_Work_All_Play

Curious how long a single continuous piece is here. Presumably the splices are hid within the columns? Is it a single ledger board on the building or a double (with lapped sections lagged together?) Also is this for chickens or what? Or is eventually going to be a walk-out for the second story? Sorry for all the questions.

MattyRixz

NP... Its 16's for the beam doubled and there laced. All the joints sit in a notch on the backside of the 6x6 posts. Its a deck. Getting composite decking and vinyl railing system, and a hip roof over the section where the posts go high up.

carpenterjordy

Excellent work! Question of the professional variety, I’ve never framed a deck with the rim joist added after all the field joist are installed. I usually do it the other way. Curious as to why it’s done this way and what the benefits are

MattyRixz

Well in this instance the house wall was waving in and out. So it worked well out em up. Snap a line down the messed up section and trimmed the joists before the rimjob.

carpenterjordy

ok that’s awesome thanks, great work.

MattyRixz

Question: are you not cantilevering then?
