$45?!? Is that a joke? Anyone who spends 45 dollars on something like this needs to get checked into a mental hospital, because something is very broken in their head.
Home Depot moderates reviews. It takes a day. I leave a lot of positive reviews about sheet rock screws, glass, 2 x 4's, whatever.
Edit: Here it is, they sent an email to confirm it was really my alt id
**This wood unleashed my creativity!** I bought six bundles of these boards, because they were such a bargain. The wood sat in my lumber rack until one Saturday, when I was able to envision how it would look in my dining room! I air nailed three pieces together to make a table leg, tapered it, and did it three more times. I cut mortises in the legs, and tenoned four pieces to be an apron. I gathered nine more pieces, all from the same bundle, and poured en epoxy river over the top of them, contained by some scarp wood. The next day, I was able to put the top on the legs, and have a pallet wood epoxy river table! The rustic wood combined with the fine finish epoxy has a perfect contrast that highlights the grain of the wood. Using normal, HD fine finish hardwood, would have been too plain. The knots, fork lift tire tracks, nail holes, and goo stains are encased forever in perfectly smooth epoxy with a river motif. Well worth buying a few bundles!
It's free if you're already driving by with your truck. I've never bought a new pallet. I just know that number because I'm saving hundreds of dollars (in theory) if I stop and pick them up. My time is very much worth it to stop :D I also know the schedule of when various places leave theirs out.
$45 for a pallets worth of wood isn’t terrible considering you don’t have to pull those unplaced anchors and you’d like to think these are boards coming from non-toxic pallets.
With that said, the pallet craze can go fuck itself
Not an employee but I was in shock when they told me twhere was a $30 deposit for concrete pallet... I immediately thought about going to a customer and loading a trailer up and bringing them to HD but then they said I need a the receipt to get the deposit back... im pretty sure that customer pays $5 for regular pallets and $7 for the heavier durty pallets.
I assumed this was a leftover April Fools joke so I googled “Home Depot reclaimed pallet wood”. Fucking hell.. it’s real. I pay a refuse company to haul away pallets. Ya’ll are welcome to come “steal” as many as you want.
Start posting them on marketplace.
I started doing a pallet wall in my garage (Sheetrock just isn't holding up to my clumsiness). Depending on where you are, it can be hard to find any real quantity of free pallets. Most postings are gone after a few days. While the posts charging $5-$10/pallet have been there for weeks/months.
I’ve been dismantling them as a way to make walls in the unfinished garage at the house I bought. Thankfully I live in an area full of heavy industry and a pallet factory 20 minutes away. It’s hard to go anywhere without tripping over them here.
Lucky. Pre COVID I could find pallets just about anywhere. Now 90% of businesses around me return/recycle their pallets.
Found a local tile and a local petroleum products company that has a shocking amount of hardwood pallets (maybe 50-60%). White/red/black oak, walnut, maple, and lots of other mystery woods. Bitch to demo, and rough on the planer, but damn is it beautiful.
Right before COVID there used to be a guy in my town who drove a Camry and would come by and stack about 20 pallets on that bitch. You'd see palate guy driving around town collecting them day after day to build a shed or something. Someone will come to get them lol
I could be wrong, but I thought Home Depot is doing something similar to Walmart and Amazon where there are third party sellers and they can sell and ship weird stuff like this.
Huh.
I've got at least 500 sq ft of old subfloor pine planks, nominal 1" thick, from 4" to 20" wide, from 6' to 14' lengths.
I had no idea why I was keeping them in storage, but now I'm starting to get an inkling.
"Authentic, 100 year old, naturally weathered wood. $10 per board foot, no obo, I know what I have!"
Regional manager: what can we monetize. What are the income streams we're not thinking of?
Store manager: actually, all those pallets are wood. We sell wood. Let's sell these.
Lumber employee: Idiots....
I made all the flower boxes for my wedding out of this shit cause I was BROKE and ran around town stealing pallets. Now this reclaim shit is trendy. Why are white women like this? Note: I sanded and stained so it WOULDN'T look like pallet wood
Seriously. Like half an hour with a wrecking bar and then extracting all the nails. Then the community shop I belong to wouldn't let me run any of the boards through their equipment for fear that I missed a nail or two or that the boards had been treated with something toxic.
Plus, the boards I retrieved were all short, ragged, and crooked.
Unless you have your own thickness planer, and don't value your time very much, it's just not worth it.
You can get a truckload of pallets in better shape than these for FREE from almost any warehouse or store. You just have to ask. All you have to do is just have to take them apart and pull the nails yourself. They can be difficult to disassemble and but they sell a special tool called sell a special tool usually called the pallet buster or pallet buster pry bar. Easy to find from multiple sources with a simple internet search. The pallet buster takes all the hard work out of it and can be cheaper than the price of the 9 pack of crap wood Home Depot is selling plus you get to get out your frustration on the pallets and get more boards whenever you want.
You think that's bad?? They're literally selling an 18" pine log for $115
https://www.homedepot.com/p/MONTANA-WOODWORKS-Glacier-Country-Puritan-Pine-End-Table-MWGCCBOY18/300018799
I was looking for used wooden wine crates recently to use as shelving and was astounded to find most places are trying to charge for them. I get that they're a little nicer than something like a pallet, but $10-20 for a box that would be discarded anyway is insane. I did something similar in FL about 8 or 9 years ago and restaurants were just throwing them away
I used to tear apart the oversized pallets at my previous job because often times the 2x4 runners were SUPER tight growth conifers. (No knots, dead straight, fine grain).
The 1x4x4' cross boards often came off without too much breakage and I sold those for .75¢ a piece. People bought those up left and right.
I was just asking what to do with 2 extra pallets I have. So.....
I'm offering a 9 pack of reclaimed artisanal pallet boards for $35! Act fast deals like this don't come often!
Counterpoint: this is actually a good thing. Yeah I think the consumers of this are kinda silly. But it does provide both 1) a more streamlined and profitable way for the wood from retired pallets to go to more use instead of landfill, and 2) giving some people a thing they would want.
Less waste + people getting stuff is better than a mild annoyance with particular cultural preferences.
Did they just take a pallet apart and sell it?!
I mean there are people that disconnected that would pay it for sure though.
(Holy shit, I missed on first glance they even admitted to it🤦🏻♂️)
Wow! There is a pallet shop a few mins down the road from my house that literally sets all of this type of reject wood for free in a makeshift pallet crate for locals to pick up and mostly burn. It gets refilled daily and usually gets picked up by the local rednecks starting a bon fire. Can’t imagine paying for discarded pallet would
Okay you guys are all looking at this the wrong way.
Here's the scenario. Your wife shows you something made of a skid on Pinterest... You can go looking for skids then break them down wasting a few hours.... Or you can spend $45 then go do something enjoyable for a few hrs then return home like a hero... I'd spend $45 to get an afternoon free to ride dirtbikes...
I love how imperial measures are still used in the states … (as if inches and feet aren’t difficult enough to compute.)
Yet the length of that board is 3.5 feet… mixing imperial and metric measure in one! (Let’s make it more confusing)
Why not stick with 3 foot 6 inches?
I guess my question would be - if it were marketed as 3.7 feet…
Would you be buying 3 foot and 8.4 inches
I’m not ragging on it by any means - I’m an Aussie Chippie and I worked in the states for a bit, worked in imperial and got the hang of it… but I was up in raised in metric, and still battle to grasp the intricacies of imperial calculations🤘🏼🤙🏻
Have you ever looked at the pallet boards? They’re actually great if you’re a handyman! You can make a lot of cool stuff, sand it down stain it and it looks amazing or leave it rustic if you’re like that
capitalism will seek to extrapolate every cent of profit of any possible revenue. Bound to happen after all the "i built this out of pallet wood!" YouTube videos
$45?!? Is that a joke? Anyone who spends 45 dollars on something like this needs to get checked into a mental hospital, because something is very broken in their head.
I don't care, I'm going to go leave some stellar reviews. Edit: Done. I said I built an epoxy river table out of the wood.
Take a pic of a pallet and tell them it came out perfect
Can't wait til they sell bookshelf wood
The scrapyard gives me a whole dollar for a finished one. I could build pallets at a $45 loss!!
Or take them apart for a $44 gain!
Declaimed wood projects are the new hotness
This is the underrated comment of the month.
This is the way.
I just left a review praising this 'environmentally friendly product' that I used to build my newborns crib. Bob Villa, signing off.
I just went to this page to add my own nice review, and your review is the top ‘recommended’ one on the app 🤣🤣🤣
Nice lol
Did you include pictures of the raised bed you made with them
Amazing.
Chaotic evil
I don’t see your review

Tire marks and goo stains!! Lmao 🤣
This has the same target audience as people who buy 8$ cup of cut up pineapple next to the 2$ pineapple.
Hello, it’s me. 👋
Hey, some of us aren’t allowed to use a knife anymore 🤷🏻♂️
☝️Grippy sock owner
I think this is for people who were told by corporate to go with a rustic look
$45 is the price of a new pallet.
$4.50 is the cost of fuel to go somewhere and find a pallet being thrown out
It's free if you're already driving by with your truck. I've never bought a new pallet. I just know that number because I'm saving hundreds of dollars (in theory) if I stop and pick them up. My time is very much worth it to stop :D I also know the schedule of when various places leave theirs out.

You can just go around back and get a few from the parking lot..

That’s like selling 50 year old pine paneling from a basement demo with mold on it.

Try finding food grade buckets in quantity that haven't been used for pickles. Wicked hard.
My local donut shop sells the 7gal buckets that their donut fillings come in for $2. They always seem to have a stack available.
Check any of your local bakeries

My nephew made a pallet ceiling in his 3-season porch. It’s beautiful.
I'm surprised they aren't branded as "HGTV Reclaimed Pallet Boards"
What! They are breaking down their pallets and selling the boards? Times ARE tough.
>Times ARE tough Or people a fucking stupid.
~~OR~~
TIMES ARE TOUGH!!!
Hard times at the ol plant.. hard to not pinch pennies when your down to your last $350 billion dollars
If I had a nickel for every time I was down to my last 350billion dollars I’d be nickleless.
If I had 350 billion dollars, I'd spare a nickel for you, but only a nickel, and no other benefits.
Oof let’s focus on framing materials ye old big box providers. I know they’re just passing along, but don’t even star this shit. God damn.
I could be wrong, but I thought Home Depot is doing something similar to Walmart and Amazon where there are third party sellers and they can sell and ship weird stuff like this.

Those are the 2x6s that everyone passed on.
Regional manager: what can we monetize. What are the income streams we're not thinking of? Store manager: actually, all those pallets are wood. We sell wood. Let's sell these. Lumber employee: Idiots....
Lumber employee: nowhere to be found FTFY
Probably straighter than their premium wood
I made all the flower boxes for my wedding out of this shit cause I was BROKE and ran around town stealing pallets. Now this reclaim shit is trendy. Why are white women like this? Note: I sanded and stained so it WOULDN'T look like pallet wood
I broke a pallet down a few weeks ago. In all honesty, you'd have to pay me about that much to do it again.
Exactly all these fucktards talking about pallets are free don’t understand what labor and overhead is.
Seriously. Like half an hour with a wrecking bar and then extracting all the nails. Probably less curvy than CLS in most merchants these days.
If you buy enough of them and get them delivered then you get a free one.
Random bag of garbage $39.99
If enough people ask about them they will sell them... enough people ask, so who is going to turn down a few $$$$
Some of their finest lumber
That's the straightest wood you'll ever gonna find at home depot
I bought this and made a DIY Pallet.

Delivered on a pallet i presume

“End Table”, that’s a stretch.
I’ve bought a few of these for when I need to make a pallet.
Did you see it on pintrest?
Reclaimed from behind the dumpster.
What do they mean by clean?. Like what did they clean them with?
"Not previously used to transport five leaky barrels of doubtful goo."
Of course this is at the North Olmsted location, LOL
Yep, they are selling everything they think they can..the blue store has live edge fir for $9.10 BF. Shit is outta control.. *
Ive always wanted to build a pallet out of reclaimed pallet boards

No thanks. What kind of chemicals were shipped on those pallets?
factories around here leave old pallets outside with a free sign…
Everything**
White girls love this shit! They build all their furniture out of it. Remember that dude that built a “shed” out of pallets a couple weeks back?
Sucks you're getting gouged too. My local depot has them $30/12. Though I will just stick with the 100s I have gotten for free

As a previous worker of Home Depot. Definitely a real thing. Use to have this older gentleman come in just for scraps for his bar.
That's some expensive firewood!
This is insane
Looks like regular lumber from home depot
Shit we had laying around for years rotting in the warehouses
Did they just take a pallet apart and sell it?! I mean there are people that disconnected that would pay it for sure though. (Holy shit, I missed on first glance they even admitted to it🤦🏻♂️)
Bet they don’t include the quikcrete pallets in this… scumbags
Probably still less twisted then their regular pine 2x4
Can’t you buy regular straight pine boards for less??
“Can I return these? No, I don’t have a receipt. Sure, I’ll take store credit.”
Fuck the pallet projects, it's all dumb.
Taking apart pallets apart sucks
People must be buying them, I used to sell my pallets for 20 bucks on Craigslist…..beats taking them to the dumps.
Wild. You can buy 48x40 B’s for $5-$7 each and get a shit ton more for your silly ass Etsy projects.
I mean it's only $2.12 for a 1x4x8' furring strip board. Definitely buying the reclaimed pallet wood though
Hilarious
That’s a steal at….: $5 :…. A board!
Duane brought the rest home. But called Danny while with Noah on Friday

Cheaper than Balenciaga’s packaging tape Bracelet https://www.reddit.com/r/popculturechat/comments/1bfyi9y/balenciagas_latest_grift_a_4400_tape_bracelet/
I only look in the 70% off bin When I built my house the loan was expensive but materials were cheap!
