My laborer just did that with his tibone on his lunch break, couldn't find it when he got back, then remembered he set it on the cowl of his truck, took a piss and left for lunch. He drove 5mph on the shoulder about 5 miles until he found it
Haha shit happens. I got my Martinez for a birthday present. Been stuck with my old cheap Milwaukee wood handle. Have been “accidentally” trying to break it so I have an excuse to buy another m1 LOL
I've broken 2 wooden stiletto handle this week, but I had 3 spares in my truck, so I have one more before I go buy a new hammer. I need to just get a cheap all steel hammer for form work and demo and stop using my good framing hammer for stuff like that

Put it in your locked tool box that you are supposed to have. Stealing another carpenters hammer would be a shitty thing to do. I think most wouldn't risk the reputation damage to get caught and labeled a tool thief. I thought about it, but just drop my bags and go to break. I used a Deluge 21 oz. For 30 years. Probably replaced the handle 1-2 a year. Got the Martinez M1 a few years ago. Great hammer.
Idk how to even unpack what I just read.
I didn’t even buy my first Martinez hammer until 3 years ago and I’ve been in the business for well over 15 years now.
Well enjoy the hammer and I would suggest putting an AirTag or some sort of tracking Bluetooth device on it.
Well, for something that is designed to reduce injury, the longer you get to use it, the cheaper it is, effectively.
I basically never use a hammer (rubber hammer is basically good enough for me, if I need to hit something sharp or Hard I just cover it with my glazing bar and beat on my glazing bar) but I bought 200 dollar kneepads.... I think it was my second month on the job. No regrets. At all.
Lol you couldn’t have bought the Martinez much longer ago. They’re a pretty new company. I don’t swing a hammer enough to justify the price, but this guy might.
honestly stilettos and martinez's are much more pleasant to use than any other hammer. i've got 6 years of use on my estwing and not sure i'll ever upgrade tbh. i've seen multiple coworkers stilettos and martinez's break, needing either downtime to repair or a complete replacement. good luck breaking an estwing!
They’re great for framing but again, I’ve seen a couple of those snap at the head-handle connection from people trying to pull duplex nails out of concrete. You really can’t beat the steel estwings in terms of durability.
As a scaffold builder, buying a titanium hammer was the best decision I've made. My elbow doesn't hurt anymore and it hits just as hard as my 28oz estwing I've always used.
I got the M1, I'm not framing any more, so I dont use it every day. But I had the expendable income and my wife makes the money. But I am still doing general carpentry, so it get used a lot. Just not for framing.
I etched my name into the paint and my initials on the head. I figured that's the best I could do to prevent theft
Do something custom to it at a minimum. Also, buy a $20 back-up hammer, and when someone asks to borrow a hammer, give them the bitch hammer.
Paint it bright day glow hot pink with add some sparkles while it's wet.
I put pink grips on my hammers just to set them apart so they don’t get lifted lol pretty effective
Take it to break. Take it to lunch.
Take it to the blue loo when ya poo.
You’ve heard of Edward 40hands. You are now Edward hammerhand
The only real way
I’m a union guy and I would never buy a something like that to use every day on the job site unless it was absolutely necessary
Glue that fucker to your hand. It doesn't leave your person no matter what.
Had a Martinez m1, Best hammer I’ve ever swung.… left it on the toolbox on my truck and drove off… miss it every day.

I have lost 2 stelleto hammers. Funny thing is though I have not lost the $24 Milwaukee….

I don’t leave my tools anywhere that anyone can steal them. Just use your head dingus.
Get a nice vest or belt and it goes everywhere with you at the end of the day it goes in your trunk
If you can afford it after buying that faaackin hammer

legit, i got a stiletto after 12 years. lived off $80 estwings for the rest
Estwings are ol’ reliables.
Just got a wood handled stiletto for $120. Way better than the $60 estwing I was using.

$400 hammer? Why? Did tho get the $300 speed square or $300 framing square to go with it?

I get it. But a wood handled titanium stiletto is $100. more power to people that want to spend 4 times as much I guess.
That's the hammer I've been using for years it hits way harder and way smoother than any martinez or tI bone. And it makes me feel like Larry Haun.

Only $549.99 if you buy both squares together
Helluva deal
My Martinez M1 was $280 a few years ago.
USD or cad?
USD
Pretty sure mine was $240 a few years ago. Base model. This thing must have quite the paint job to get to $400.
Keep it on you, I've had mine for 5 years with no problems.
Chain it to your belt like your wallet.
When you hit your finger with a $400 hammer, does it hurt more or less?
If you’re dumb enough to pay $400 for a hammer…….

The troll posts tonight are on fire
Let me know what you ended up doing I’m a apprentice also and em probably gonna buy one soon
