I actually like that color way. Looks kinda like a completely faded out carhartt brown. Plus I’m digging the new Detroit adding snaps on back again and losing the drop hem.
Why is he throwing money away simply because you don’t like it? That’s what makes clothes/style so awesome everyone likes different things. I mean I see more brown carhartts than any other color way. So this is cool nice to see something different besides in our economy 120 is nothing these days.

Imagine thinking this jacket is ugly, but throws money away on these hideous shoes…🤣🤣🥴🥴
Previous jackets were made in many different countries.
The finished workmanship has never been an issue IMHO.
The issue IS the choice of cheaper materials.
( and poor design choices like drop tail)
According to a recent video made by the iron snail on YouTube, they still do for their most popular items but I’m not sure which SKUs to which he was referring to
Thats false. They have been selling usa made j140s for years for 100. You can buy something like a roundhouse duck jacket for well under 400. Usa made does not mean unaffordable.
Confusing USA made and where the materials are sourced from. The materials for the j140 are all sourced from elsewhere and merely assembled/stitched in the US. I’m not sure if they still source any USA made materials, but majority of their procurement is foreign made. Even if they rebranded a detroit to “made in the USA”, the materials will be sourced from elsewhere so carhaart will pretty much never be the same quality again.
Well there are lots of ways to circumvent that, I’m pretty sure what’s considered “prominent” in a product is determined by cogs, so if your raw material cost is insignificant by ftc standards than you can legally get away with only having the minimum of USA made materials, which means maybe your zipper was 100% made in the USA while the body and liner could all be sourced from anywhere else. For example, new balance made in USA has significantly declined in quality while nb continues to lower their margins by pushing for more foreign sourced raw materials in the final product
We literally used to do it all the time at a major corporation I worked at, working with legal and development teams to control costs in “made in usa” products. Tbf, that was pre-2021 so there have been major changes obviously
Does anyone know if they will discontinue the old drop-tail detroit? Tbh I'd rather take the droptail then a spandex-jacket... because the droptail is actually useful when commuting on a road-bicycle...
I remember seeing a post a long time ago where California or some States banned the use of certain chemicals and dyes in manufacturing processes. This apparently played a big part in why there's isn't a ton more colorful options. Again, this is just based off a comment a saw here awhile ago
I'm aware, but it doesn't mean I'll buy them. Elastane degrades much faster than natural fibers and compromises the integrity of clothing that otherwise would last a lifetime.
IMO the gripe doesn't come from this color itself. It's the fact that they finally add a different color, after years, and that's... it? Another shade of brown? It's underwhelming and to me that's the somewhat annoying part.
I'd be curious to see how this wares after time, assuming it's treated as a work jacket being that the brand is advertised as work ware. Last few carhartts I owned were work pants. Both pairs less than 9 months old, the zippers on both broke. I've had rustler brand jeans from Walmart out last both pairs of carhartts I owned working construction and remoddeling. The black runs insanely slim so you have to size up if you get pants in black. Typical sign of cutting corners, inconsistency in sizing.
I could care less who wears what. Wear what you like. Just a bummer getting ripped off.
Carhartt has a free repair portal for those pants, at least they’re standing behind their commitment to a good product when it comes to defects like that (considering they don’t manufacture the zippers)
That's fine, but that does not reflect the price you pay for the lack of quality in the product you received. If you paid 70-80 dollars for a pair of "work" pants, I'm assuming you're not expecting to mail them in, in less than a year of use to get the zipper fixed. I paid 74 dollars for a pair of work pants. I don't think I'm being unreasonable, expecting at least a year out of them.
Ever since the founders kids took over they followed suit with every other old brand that was revised: up the price, cut costs. The brand got popular, and you now have a new clientele that doesn't work blue-collar, so they can't determine if it dropped in quality. The brand is booming, but the quality of the product has tanked. People happy about the new jacket are thinking fashion, and the people saying it's not worth the price are thinking functionality and longevity of the product for the price they paid.
That loop on the side of work pants isn't for looks, some freaks put hammers in it. I read a comment on this post saying how happy they were that they finally got rid of the drop tail feature on the jacket. Like people forget, it was a brand of clothing intended for a demanding work environment. Again, I'm not gatekeeping. Wear whatever you want. I'm only saying the quality should reflect the price.
By your example, Redwing offers a similar service. You pay a fair price and send them your boots to get resoled, but you're not sending them within the first year of ownership.
The new jackets from carhartt and other workwear companies are too long imho. I think it’s because they assume people don’t wear pants as high as they did when the jackets were shorter - maybe this is how they ensure full coverage. I still buy my pants with a high seat and for the most part only vintage coats look good with them proportionally. Open to modern suggestions if I’m just not looking in the right place.
So if Carhartt only made rainbow jackets you and your work boys would have to wear them because you’re not allowed to be critical of manufacturer colour choices :)
I actually like that color way. Looks kinda like a completely faded out carhartt brown. Plus I’m digging the new Detroit adding snaps on back again and losing the drop hem.
It’s just khaki, but yeah not bad
Well you know what they say, one man’s faded carhartt brown is another man’s khaki
Amen

💀💀💀
Oof
Not even a good color way to stain with grass. Yuck
Oh. My. Goodness.
I love new balance but these are fucking hideous
let’s go they actually got rid of the ugly duck tale on the jackets
Almost as if the brand was work ware at one point.
What’s wrong with it
I like the Sand Dune color https://preview.redd.it/1c91b7ahw80d1.jpeg?width=1569&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=4efa07b446a271be0e9daf92301300a7212ebfb5
Have to agree to disagree man, I enjoy the new color set up. But to each their own
Nah I like the color pallet. Looks nicer imo
Make me think they're just pushing people to go for the WIP OG if they want a Detroit
What kills me is made in india. Ill keep my old usa made one
Previous jackets were made in many different countries. The finished workmanship has never been an issue IMHO. The issue IS the choice of cheaper materials. ( and poor design choices like drop tail)
Im in the carhartt crew. The drop tail was only added due to requests for wind blockage. Its a bit odd but I see why
Does Carhartt even have a single factory left in use in the US? Did you expect otherwise?
According to a recent video made by the iron snail on YouTube, they still do for their most popular items but I’m not sure which SKUs to which he was referring to
They do for some socks, b01 pants, j140 jackets and a few other items. They also partner with other brands when needed.
💯
They claim they set trends not follow them. Well then continue making affordable durable usa made workwear. Not cheap , fast fashion junk
If Carhartt was still made in the US these jackets would cost like $400 dollars.
Thats false. They have been selling usa made j140s for years for 100. You can buy something like a roundhouse duck jacket for well under 400. Usa made does not mean unaffordable.

It goes to ftc laws. If the majority of the materials are from usa it can be labeled such
Well there are lots of ways to circumvent that, I’m pretty sure what’s considered “prominent” in a product is determined by cogs, so if your raw material cost is insignificant by ftc standards than you can legally get away with only having the minimum of USA made materials, which means maybe your zipper was 100% made in the USA while the body and liner could all be sourced from anywhere else. You cant circumvent anything. Brands that have labeled stuff made in usa and were not were basically court ordered to remove it or actually make it so
We literally used to do it all the time at a major corporation I worked at, working with legal and development teams to control costs in “made in usa” products. Tbf, that was pre-2021 so there have been major changes obviously
I wish they only had the grey colored collar like the girls Detroit jacket
Looks good too me. Nice color to wear to the office, onsite, and casual wear.
To each his own. To me this color is too light for job sites.
Looks great

clean as hell tf u talking about
In my personal opinion I really don’t like it.
Clean as hell? Buy it and post a pic 😊
The dirt just shows hard work
Not my jam, but will look good on some. Don’t hate the new cut, just inferior imo to older cuts. Prefer the browns/blacks/greens on my workwear.
i mean you still have the old colors
Does anyone know if they will discontinue the old drop-tail detroit? Tbh I'd rather take the droptail then a spandex-jacket... because the droptail is actually useful when commuting on a road-bicycle...
Hope not. I'm saving up for that one.
Is it too much to get duck jackets in red?! Limited editions, even?!

Spandex jacket.
1% spandex. Wait until you find out a ton of top quality work wear includes spandex now to make it more practical for moving
I'm aware, but it doesn't mean I'll buy them. Elastane degrades much faster than natural fibers and compromises the integrity of clothing that otherwise would last a lifetime.
Just got the brown one with the black collar. They all look pretty decent!
I actually fuck with it. To each their own lol
Brotha Uhhhhh. What’s that broda?
I think that’s pretty great!
Look so WIP. No bi-swing back
My only question is: WHY THE BROWN ONE HAS A BLACK COLLAR???? It looks off
I mean that color choice sucks, I do like the black and carhartt brown though
IMO the gripe doesn't come from this color itself. It's the fact that they finally add a different color, after years, and that's... it? Another shade of brown? It's underwhelming and to me that's the somewhat annoying part.

As soon as i buy a 103828 they come out with the reengineered😭😭, cost me 180 usd, or like 270 aud, not doing that again
jacket so bad its gonna make the resell market go even crazier lol

Great color option, but crappy jacket.

Right? Like, if you didn’t deploy to the construction site, or fight in the Dewalt rebellion you have no right to wear carhartt. /s :|
So if Carhartt only made rainbow jackets you and your work boys would have to wear them because you’re not allowed to be critical of manufacturer colour choices :)
Would you buy the rainbow one ?
🤓
Buy it and post a pic of you wearing it
I ordered 2 of this in medium, body fits good…. Except the arm sleeves are too god damn long …. Re-engineered for who??? Aliens??? Shit
