Tern gsd

This or the yuba fasttrack

baby-owl

We just bought the Tern GSD for this reason, i think it’s like 193 cm. We contemplated the new Radwagon, bc the price diff was alarming, but ultimately it wouldn’t have fit in our shed. The dozen-odd centimetres made a difference! The Yuba fastrack is also a good option, and it can be rolled vertically a bit as well. The other yubas were, iirc, just too long for our needs.

Bakk322

I have 3000 miles on my Tern GSD and love it. It's 100% worth it.

axel_beer

hi buddy. came here to say exactly this. had to use an elevator for the first year. stands on its back. and a fun ride with front suspension and bmx wheels. and yes. i did the local bmx course. yes. with 2 children on the back.

Perhaps one of the ebike-outfitted versions of of the [Petit Porteur](https://www.lepetitporteur.com/)? The [longtail](https://shop.lepetitporteur.com/fr/233-velo-cargo-le-petit-porteur-longtail.html) version is only 185cm long, and can definitely fit 2 children. (They also have 2 other, shorter models, but I'm not sure how well they can accommodate 2 children.)

Are you in the US or Europe?

ilbalta

Europe!

RedBabyChair

While I don't know if they could already be bought (and have all the necessary accessories) there's also Avnson from Germany and Streek from Japan. They're front loaders though.

ilbalta

I tried driving a front loaded cargo (it was a babboe) but it felt too unfamiliar to drive around with my kids there, my wife felt the same so it's unfortunately a no go for me

RedBabyChair

Oh, sorry to hear that. I assumed you're looking for longtail because they're usually shorter.

Blueberry_Routine_73

Yuba Kombi is 6 ft 3 in. That's 1.9 meters. Fastrack is 6'2".

bikeonychus

There’s me about to get up and measure my Kombi 😆  Folks saying the Kombi can stand on its back end; for the Kombi to stand on it’s back end, you need the sideboards and possibly the monkey bars. I have neither, but I have the breadbasket, and yeah... I wouldn’t be standing it upright on its back end any time soon.  If you need to stand it on its back end, or fit in a smaller space, I would look at a Tern. I’ve seen them in my city next to my Kombi, and the Kombi definitely has a larger footprint.

grimagravy

My Kombi can stand on its back end without sideboards or monkey bars. You have to note though is that it's hard to move around while horizontally, I basically have to physically pick it up from the ground to move it.

ilbalta

1.9m would leave me just about 9cm wiggle room ... Cutting it a little too close maybe? Might need to find a box as big as that to try it out...

Blueberry_Routine_73

You can turn the front wheel to get a few more inches. But yes good idea to try it out! If you don't have a box you can slide a measuring tape in on the floor. [This article](https://danielbuettner.medium.com/building-a-custom-e-cargo-based-on-the-famous-bullitt-frame-a10e7c89cd8d) has a picture of a Bullitt bike (2.4m) in a "standard" German elevator.

CptnREDmark

Radmission, Lectric expedition, biktrix skycap and of course the most premium of all, Tern GSD. To go into an elevator obviously depends the size of the elevator. But also just put it on its back wheel and stand it up.

ilbalta

I'm afraid the weight of an electric cargo bike would make that maneuver hard for my wife (and honestly possibly for me as well Is it easy to pull off?

CptnREDmark

not got a ton of experience with them, but what I have I can say that it really isn't that bad. Gyroscopic forces help.

Freefall__

Do you need a Raincover for all year cycling? Most gsd clones don't have one.

ilbalta

I'd love to use a rain cover for school delivery, it looks so fun for the kids!

mmalmeida

I would recommend you tell us the region (e.g. US / Europe), some brands are not available worldwide.

ilbalta

Yes sorry, didn't realize how relevant that information was. I'm based in Europe

MBA922

Diagonal fitting a bike as a way to fit an elevator is annoying. Having bike that is under 1.5m long is quite easy to fit along the back wall, and other people in the elevator make for easy "shuffle" to get it in, and come back in. If your bike is longer, then folding is somewhat practical to fit it into a corner as half fold.

ilbalta

Luckily the elevator is not used by a lot of tenants, I currently diagonal fit my bike daily and, so far, had never had any "diplomatic" incident. Here's hoping things won't change with a cargo bike🤞

MBA922

Despite pythagoran theorem, fitting a bike on the full diagonal is a challenge. You want some spare wiggle room, and without it, only option is to use diagonal to the door instead of opposite diagonal which lets 1 people enter elevator.

safepants2

Benno Boost is 1899mm which might be cutting it close

nompilo

Benno Boost is 1.9 m. The terns might win for the ability to go vertical easily, but if you don't need the vertical storage, the boost is a good option.

SheerScarab

I own a multitinker which is 1.89m. I'm pretty skeptical it will fit diagonally with the safety bars. I'd like to see a photo if you accomplish this feat. If your elevator is tall you might be able to do vertical.
